"Oh why must a man like that be made unhappy when there are lots of girls about who would worship the very ground he trod on?"
■●•~Bram Stocker~•●■
Electric pulses ran through my whole body on his touch.
His hands were big and warm like a bear and my whole hand got vanished into his hand as he give mine a squeeze.
I gasped and open my eyes.
"Hi!". He greeted me with a smile.
I looked at him and that was all I could only do. I was deeply intimidated by his looks. He was looking ravishing. He smelled of fresh cologne and sandalwood.
His dress shirt was hardly containing his macular body.
I tried to get up and sit. He rose from the seat and helped me.
"How are you Tasha?" He sat near me again.
"I am feeling good. Much better now. Thank you August for saving my life." I replied with a weakened voice.
"I cannot imagine what would have happened if you weren't there." I looked into his eyes.
"I guess you were lucky then." He smiled.
"I am forever grateful to you August. You saved my life and brought me here. You did a lot for me. I don't know how to pay you back." I said in a grateful tone.
"You can pay me back by joining CIA." He chuckled.
"Really! Am I hired?" I became overwhelmed with joy.
"Yes! Kind of. I am convincing Sloane into hiring you. Don't worry you will be a part of it soon." He said.
"Thank you so much August. Again." I said. I was kind of feeling embarrassed on how much he did for me.
"Anyways. Did you eat anything? Are you taking proper meals?" He asked.
"Yes. They are taking really good care of me." I replied.
"I couldn't come to see you early because of my regime. I was too busy. Here is your cell phone." He took out my cell phone from his pocket and handed it over to me.

"I found it in your purse. It was with me the whole time. I guess its time to return it." He said with a grin.
"Oh thank you. I was wondering if I lost it." I smiled while switching it on.
"I got to go now. I'll come again to take you. Take good care of yourself." He stood up and turned around to go.
"August!" I called him.
He turned around to face me.
"Thanks again."
"I was wondering why are you doing so much for me. I- I know it doesn't sound good to ask you but why me? I mean I am just an ordinary girl." I stammered.
"I don't have any answer to that. Some things must remain un- answerable." He put his hands into the pockets of his dress pant.
I could just look at him like a question mark on my face.
"You suffered a lot already and I think its time for you to be at peace now Tasha." He explained.
"Goodbye and take care." He said and left the room.
I could just stare at him going away. I really didn't know this man and the deep secrets he possessed inside of him.

The next day I was discharged from the hospital.
I was ready and waiting for August to take me.
He showed up claded in cargo pants, boots and a plaid shirt like he was on some kind of a mission.
His lips spread into a smile as he saw me standing on the door of my room.
I butterfly fluttered inside my belly as I smiled back.
"Follow me!" He said like he was taking me on a mission.
I followed him through the corridor. Looking behind him and observing him. Gosh! This man was like a huge teddy bear so big I was nowhere near his height.
Everybody in the corridor looked intimidated by his presence.
I followed him towards his SUV in the parking lot. He opened the passenger seat door for me. I sat inside and he drove.

"Natasha!" You want something to eat?
I, who was looking at him throughout the journey just jumped on his voice.
"I Umm. No thanks." I replied.
I am taking you to your hostel. Gather your stuff and do your packing because I have found a temporary residence for you.
"What? But why? You have already done a lot for me." I was flabbergasted.
"You are going to be a part of CIA and I don't want anybody to know it. We remain low key you know and we have our own hostels where we live." He explained while looking straight on the road.
"But what will I say to my ma'am?" I muttered.
"You don't have to worry. I'll handle everything." He said.
We finally reached the hostel. I climbed down the SUV and saw Emily and ma'am standing on the entrance.
"Oh dear! I miss you so much. How are you Natasha? What happened to you?" Emily hugged me and attacked me with tons of questions.
"Ouch! Emily! Watch out. My arm is injured." I tried to push her back.
"I am so sorry but what happened to you? You just vanished on that day. Icouldn't contact you on your cell either. What is your friend doing here?" She pointed towards August.
"I am leaving Emily. I have found a new place to live." I said while heading towards the elevator.
"What! Are you moving in with him? Is he you new boyfriend? Aww! It must be amazing for you. Tell me is he your new found love? Tello tello!" She nudged me with her elbow.
"Stop this drama Emily! We are just friends. He found me this new place because I just can't live here anymore. I have found a better place for myself." I tried to explain.
"Oh! I understand. But you are leaving so soon. I will miss you a lot." She said while following me to our dorm.
I entered my dorm and hurriedly started to pack my stuff. Emily sat on the chair straddling it and put her chin on the back of it. She started revolving on the chair.
"Where is my macbook?" I asked her while searching the table.
"Below the pillow." She pointed towards my pillow."
"Why did you put it here? The screen would have been crushed if someone had sit on it." I pushed on her forehead with my fingers. "You are so dumb."
I took my backpack and my macbook and my suitcase and opened the door.
"Aren't you coming to see me off Emily?" I turned around and saw her getting up from her seat.
"Ofcourse bish! Why wouldn't I?" She said and took my suitcase from my hand. "After you. Ma'am." She said.
I went downstairs and saw my madam waiting on the entrance.
"Ma'am! I am leaving- Yes I know, she interrupted.
"Mr Walker told me everything. It was a pleasure having you here Natasha." She opened her arms to give me a hug.
I hugged her and Emily. Throwing my lugguage onto the backseat of August's SUV sat on the passenger seat and waved Emily goodbye.
She waved me back.
August drove towards Manhattan.
It was a posh area where the SUV pulled over. It stopped near a building.
"Is this the place?" I asked looking out the window and taking a look at the building.
"Yes it is." He came out of the car and started to take out my suitcase.
I followed him towards the elevator.
We reached the second floor and my apartment was the last one into the right corridor.
He opened the door for me and I entered into the apartment.
It was a small apartment with a sitting space in front of the main entrance. A kitchen to the right and a bathroom door beside it. In front of the sitting area was a bedroom door.
"You like it?" I heard him asking.

Phantom Storm
"Have you heard, the entire Bonanno crew was brutally murdered!" Exclaimed a youth in his early teens. "What? you're lying, again!" Another similarly aged child responded with crisp denial in his tone. After all, the crew was infamous for their ruthlessness. An eery silence passed between them. Soon enough, the teens' curiosity trumped his ego, and he found himself inquiring in a meek voice. "So...Who did it?" "I heard my father talking about it while he was drunk. Guess what he said?..." The child responded, he was a natural-born storyteller. Listening intently, the other teen urged him on. "It was done by a single person. When the police arrived, the bodies were charred black, likely the work of an electro mage. Most had an arrow or two lodged in their body, and a few were even chopped into neat little slices by a sharp blade." He paused, inhaling sharply. "All the victims had shocked expressions on their faces. As if the enemy was invisible or something. That's why they call that person the Phantom Storm!" concluded the adolescent with an excited glint in his eyes. 2 CHAPTERS PER WEEK (Canada time) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] -------------------------------------------- Follow Itsuki as he is reincarnated in an unfamiliar world, left to discover where he belongs in such a place. The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com
