《Namasté (Jerrie)》Chapter 5

Jesy turned the simmering curry off the heat as they all gave Perrie their full attention. Leigh looked at her with a confused expression and Jesy simply shrugged, having no clue in what was happening. Jade carefully stood next to Perrie and placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Perrie, what is it? Is something wrong?" She asked her tentatively, not wanting to pry too much. She simply received a shake of blonde hair, a no to something being wrong.
"It'll be 13 years in August since my Dad died... I never imagined that he would do something so sweet and thoughtful..."
Jade swiveled the bar stool round, standing between Perrie's legs as she put the letter on the side, letting her focus land of Jade's worried expression. Jade's hand was on her knee as she smiled to herself. Just a small smile. She let her hands take Jade's hand on her knee and she started to play with her fingers, obsessed with how petite and smooth they were but how her fingers were longer that you'd imagine. Slender like her own.
"My Dad... He left me money... I didn't even know he had that much... We never had a life like you'd live if you had that amount of money..."
The three girls smiled sweetly, knowing this was going to be a happy moment for Perrie. Leigh placed a hand on Perrie's back and Jesy tilted her head as they waited patiently. Perrie giggled as she let a tear slide and Jade was quick to wipe it.
"Girls... He left me £462.7 Billion..."
The three of them choked on thin air, eyes widening as they tried to fathom and process Perrie's words.
"Pez... Are you sure?"
Perrie smiled up and Jade and answered her with a nod, taking the letter and passing it to Jade, a cheque attatched to it with the exact amount that Perrie had said, plus a few odd pence. She looked down at Perrie and grinned at her.
"Well, looks like you didn't need that shit job after all..."

It'd been nearly two weeks since the cheque had cleared, a month since she'd received it which marked 2 months since she'd moved in with Jade. After everthing that Jade had done for her, including agreeing to be her accountant too, she felt that she needed to do something back to thank her and she knew exactly what to do. She'd rallied Jesy and Leigh together and was on her way to meet them at a cafe not far from the three of them. She pulleed into the car park and struggled to get the old Camero out of gear and into Neutral, reminding herself to talk to Jade about going car shopping. She grabbed her keys, phone and handbag, locking the car as she walked into the cafe, noticing the girls in the queue, right infront of her. She rested her chin on Jesy's shoulder and grinned at Leigh.
"Perrie, what do you want to drink babes? I'm buying." Jesy asked as she wrapped an arm round the blonde.
"Oh, um can I have a caramel latte with cream please Jes? Ooh and a brownie!"
"Course you can, kiddo."
Leigh giggled at their antics, loving how they had an almost mother-daughter relationship due to being the eldest and youngest of the four. They grabbed the drinks and cakes before sitting in the window of the cafe, each nibbling at their cakes as they sipped the coffees. Leigh looked up at Perrie and raised her eyebrows expectantly.
"Come on then, Pezza. What is it you have in mind?"
"Well, it's actually for the four of us... not just Jadey and I... When was the last time the three of you went on holiday? As in abroad?"
Jesy frowned and shook her head slightly.
"The three of us went to Marbella about three years ago but nothing since."
"Then how to you two feel about us going to Florida?"
Leigh piped up first, her eyes full of excitement, Jesy with a wary grin because she loved the idea but knew what Perrie wanted to suggest.

"You are serious, right? I mean I'm definitely in!"
"Me too, there is more though isn't there Pez?"
She smiled a cheeky smile at her two friends and giggled at how well Jesy knew her already.
"I might have put a deposit down on DisneyWorld, Orlando..."
"Jade is going to flip, you know that right? She'll love the thought but she'll tell you off for how much it costs, like I'd tell you off if I didn't need to get away from this place so desperately."
Jesy gave her a stern look but Perrie scrunched her nose up cutely, making her smile. Leigh simply sat there dreamily, wondering wich of her bikinis to pack or if she should buy more.
"I'm actually using my savings I had before my inheritance for this... It's in an account seperate from the rest so she won't actually find out unless one of you tell her. What I need help with is finding her passport...?"
Leigh popped up from her own little world and smiled wide.
"Easy. It's in her Aladdin DVD case. In her bedroom."
Jesy and Perrie looked at her as if she were mad but she gave them a serious stare, trying to show them she was completely serious. Jesy shook her head slightly and giggled.
"Oh bless her. That's my girl alright."
"Talking of which, she's ringing me..."
Perrie picked up the phone and told the girls to keep quiet.
"Hey Jadey, you okay?" She could sense that Jade was bored by the tone of voice that followed.
"Perrie are you coming home soon? I just built something in the garden but it's soooo boring using it on my own." Jade sighed, looking at the 18ft trampoline out the back from the kitchen window. Perrie chuckled slightly and looked over at Jesy, noticing the twinkle in her eye. She looked at her sceptically and Jesy winked at her, laughing to herself.
"Do you think you can cope for half an hour? I won't be long, I promise, babes."
"You mean it? I'd had enough of numbers for today, plus I haven't heard from the girls either, have you? It's odd..."
"No Jadey, I've not heard from Jesy or Leigh today. Look, I'm just finishing having coffee with an old friend okay? I'll nip to the shop on the way home and get you some rich tea biscuits okay?"
"Okay Pezza..."
"Bye Jadey."
"Bye..."
She hung up and sighed with relief. Leigh grabbed her keys and phone, announcing she had to leave to go let Harvey out before heading off to check on one of the resturants. Jesy agreed to help Perrie with anything regarding the holiday and before they'd all left it was made clear that this would be kept a secret until the morning they were leaving. As Perrie walked into the house, she was pounced on by Jade, making her rest her hands under her jean clad bum to keep hold of her, securely. Jade nuzzled into her and sighed as Perrie walked them through to the living room, plummeting them onto the sofa and playing with Jade's hair.
"Hey Jadey."
"I ate a WHOLE pack of digestives this morning Perrie. I missed you."
"I missed you too but darling it isn't smart to eat a whole pack of biscuits, that's why you're hyper!"
"OOH! Come outside..."
Perrie was dragged by Jade out to the back yard and there, in plain sight, was a huge trampoline. Her eyes were wide with shock.
"You... You built that?!"
"Yeah, was kinda difficult but I managed. Come on Pezza!"
She watched as Jade ran toward the trampoline, giggling as she went. A smiled crept on her face and she couldn't believe how easy it was for Jade to shock her by doing something so simple as acting carefree. It was the childlike behaviour that she was witnessing as Jade climbed onto the outdoor jumper that was the exact reasoning to her taking Jade and their best friends to DisneyWorld Orlando.

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!
