'Would you like a snack?' Leigh-Anne asked Gary as he put his arm around her. They lay on her bed, fresh from watching White Chicks. It wasn't that late, but the curtains had been drawn and it made it feel like it was nighttime.

'A condom, let me know...' Gary laughed, and Leigh-Anne recognised the quote immediately and joined him in laughter. They just clicked, both appreciating the other's company. It was so nice to spend time with him; it was just a shame that there was a nagging feeling that she was doing something wrong in the pit of her stomach.

Leigh-Anne moved a little away from him so she could check her phone. She had a few missed messages in the group chat, but nothing substantial. 'Yes, let me know if you need anything.'

Gary shifted so he could kiss her neck. She closed her eyes - it felt incredible, but so, so wrong. Gary lifted his lips to her ear, 'maybe a condom isn't such a bad idea.'

Leigh-Anne felt her heart plummet. She wanted this more than she ever realised, more so now that it was an actual possibility. But that still small voice in the back of her mind told her to not go all the way.

She turned to face him, so she could tell him that she wasn't ready, but he stole the words from her mouth by putting his lips on hers. The spell he was under put her under the same spell and she felt herself succumbing with every stroke of his tongue.

But she knew that she couldn't let it go any further than that.

'Gary,' she finally managed to say once she pulled herself from his addictive lips. 'I want to, seriously, I want this more than anything. I do really, really love you, so, so much...'

'I love you too,' Gary said so quickly and normally. It sounded natural, like he really did mean it. Maybe he did, but not in the way she wanted.

Leigh-Anne looked down at her hands. She was nervously playing with her fingers. 'Sex isn't something we should do... right now.'

Gary moved back. He seemed a little hurt at first, but then his face mellowed. 'I understand. Well, at least I think I do. I'm so confused.'

'I know, you must feel so torn right now, I'm so sorry.'

Gary shook his head. 'Don't be sorry. I've been confused for a long, long time. I know I'm gay, and I'm attracted to you, but I'm not normally attracted to women. I appreciate how beautiful and amazing they are, but sexually, I'm not... into it, you know? But you're different.'

'No, I'm not.'

'You are. You make me feel so loved and I love you for that. I very rarely get that. I've never had a boyfriend, you know? This is my first relationship.'

'Oh Gary,' Leigh-Anne began, but Gary continued.

'And ever since we became public yesterday, the guys at school haven't been harsh to me. I think the bullying has stopped, though I don't want to speak too soon.'

Leigh-Anne looked at him with blazing hope in her eyes. She started to feel a little better. 'It has? Oh, I'm so relieved.' She looked at the scars on his wrist, but quickly diverted her eyes before he could see that she was looking.

'Yeah, some have messaged me on Facebook apologising for misjudging me and for making my life hell the past few weeks.' His phone dinged. 'That's probably another one now.'

Leigh-Anne beamed. 'I am so, so happy to hear that, you have no idea!'

Gary looked at his phone as he read the message, a little blank at first, then turned to Leigh-Anne and smiled. 'I guess I could do with a little snack.'

'I'll get the popcorn,' Leigh-Anne told him as they quickly pecked each other's lips. 'Pick your favourite Jim Carrey film and we'll stick it on when I get back.'

Leigh-Anne dashed out of the room as Gary returned to his phone. His smile faded.

'I knew going for a cheeky Nando's with you would be a great idea,' Jesy said as she bit into her chicken. 'I know we could have went somewhere more romantic but this is my favourite place. It's like you know me so well.'

'You did basically state where you wanted to go,' Hughie said, smiling as he dug into his own meal.

'A small hint,' Jesy replied. Hughie pulled out his phone.

'As I said, a hint,' Jesy laughed.

'You have the best sense of humour out of anyone I know,' he told her. He suddenly sounded more serious.

Jesy looked at him. 'Are you going to propose again? Because I already said yes, and the ring is absolutely gorgeous.'

'I'm not proposing, but seriously, I'm so infatuated by you with how funny you are, and how beautiful you are. I may not have realised it before, but I do now.'

Jesy reached over and grabbed his hand. 'Thank you for saying that, I appreciate it.'

'I love you,' he said.

A familiar voice interrupted Jesy before she could repeat the declaration of love. 'Well isn't this adorable?'

Jesy pulled her eyes away from Hughie's and found herself looking at Rachael Parker. Her heart dropped fifty stories.

'What are you doing here?' Jesy asked after clearing her throat. She always sounded quiet whenever Rachael was around, but she made an attempt to sound more like a lion than a mouse.

'I'm here for something to eat, of course,' Rachael said dryly. 'I should have known you'd be here Jesy, whenever there's food around you're the first one there, aren't you?'

Jesy looked away. Rachael's words stung and she couldn't help but feel her eyes fill with water.

'Go away Rachael,' Hughie spat. 'Absolutely nobody wants you here.'

Rachael looked at him with venom in her eyes. 'There was a time when you did want me,' she said, her voice almost breaking with frustrated anger. 'Then all of a sudden you have your hands all over this fat bitch...'

'She's not fat,' Hughie quickly defended Jesy. 'Now be ever so kind and piss off before you embarrass yourself even more.'

Jesy managed to look up. Rachael looked pissed. 'I'll get to the bottom of this,' Rachael hissed, promising Jesy vengeance with only a glance. 'When it comes out that you've done something, Jesy Nelson, you'll be the laughing stock of the entire school and I can't wait to watch you crash and burn.'

Rachael spun around before Hughie could say something again. As soon as she was out of sight, Jesy burst into loud crying. A few of the people nearby looked at her. Hughie reached his arm out again and held her hand.

'What are you crying for?' He asked, then stood up without breaking their contact and sat in the seat next to her.

Jesy looked at him, her cries calming down slightly. 'You. You stood up for me. I thought I'd be able to stand up for myself but I guess I'm not ready to yet.'

'Of course I stood up for you! I wasn't going to let her say those awful things to you. What kind of person would I be if I just let her say that and remained silent?'

Jesy wanted to point out that he'd done it before - almost every day at school when Rachael, or some of the other girls in her class, would call her fat or other degrading names. There were plenty of times when he remained silent, but she didn't care about that right now. She smiled and leaned in for a kiss.

'I love you too.'

Jade looked down the long, long table of Kyle's family members. She mimed the word 'wow' as she looked at the only person she felt comfortable talking to - Kyle. She was sure the uncle she was sitting next to was being a little too pervy for her tastes.

Despite the unwanted attention, she was grateful to be there.

Kyle's mother stood and banged a fork against her champagne glass. 'It is so, so nice to have everyone around before Christmas. We only ever get to see this table full once a year and I am so excited to have a new addition to the table - Jade Thirlwall.'

Jade smiled. 'Cheers.'

'Where are you from?' The pervy uncle asked once he heard Jade speak.

'South Shields,' Jade answered quickly as she refrained from turning to address him directly. 'Newcastle, if you've heard of it.'

'Wey aye pet I have,' he said in an attempt to mimic her Geordie accent.

Jade cringed. 'Oh God,' she muttered under her breath.

'How did you two meet?' A woman directly opposite asked. Jade was sure her name was Aunt Carol, but she wasn't entirely sure.

'Primary school,' Jade said, not afraid to actually address this relative. 'We've known each other since we were kids.'

'Awww,' the Aunt said in a high-pitched voice. She turned to Kyle. 'Have you got anything for her for Christmas? This one's a special girl.'

Jade smiled at the compliment. Kyle looked at her, 'I'm not sure what to get her actually. What do you want?'

Jade shrugged, 'I'll have a look through the Argos catalogue later.' Everyone appeared a little confused by her answer, but they continued regardless.

'If you guys knew each other since primary school, then how come it's taken so long for you two to fall in love?' Another Aunt asked. Jade noticed it was only the women who seemed interested, while the men kept drinking their champagne as if there would be no more to come, despite full bottles chilling in ice on the table.

'He's under a love spell,' Jade bluntly replied. Everyone fell silent for a moment before the table erupted in laughter.

'She's a keeper,' the Aunt said with a chuckle. Kyle laughed along too, and put his arm on the back of Jade's chair. She felt incredible at the show of love, but also a little uncomfortable at the amount of attention.

A hand crept onto her thigh. At first she thought it was Kyle's, but when she looked down and saw it belonged to the pervy uncle, she grabbed the gravy boat when nobody was looking and snuck it under the table. Carefully, she poured the piping hot liquid directly on his crotch.

The uncle shot up, screaming in pain. Jade quickly moved the gravy boat back on the table and looked at him startled, acting surprised.

'What the hell, Jared?' Kyle's father shouted from the head of the table.

'I...' the pervy uncle stuttered. 'I accidentally poured some gravy on myself. Sorry about that, I'd better go and clean myself up.'

'Yes,' Kyle's mother said disapprovingly, watching him with beady eyes as he left the room. Jade looked at Kyle and shrugged with an innocent smile on her face.

'Mum,' Kyle said, turning away from Jade. 'Didn't you find an adorable photograph of me and Jade from school in the family photo album before?'

Kyle's mother pushed her seat out and stood. 'Yes! I did! Let me get it, it's the cutest photo. Jade, you must see it!'

'I'd love to,' Jade said, already picturing the photo. She knew exactly which one it would be.

It didn't take long for Kyle's mother to get the photo album and walk down to where Jade was sitting. She opened up the album and gave it to Jade to hold. She looked at the photo.

It had a really nice black and white effect on it, with both Jade and Kyle as ten-year-olds sitting cross-legged in the school playground. Jade looked a little reserved while Kyle held his hands out. He had something in his hands, but Jade forgot what.

She knew even then that she loved Kyle. They had been childhood friends, almost sweethearts, but she never had the courage to confess how she felt about him. Maybe he felt the same, but she never knew. She never made it known herself. How she wished she had the courage then and maybe the running around and broken hearts over the years would have been avoided. As lovely as the photo was, it made her sad to think about the missed opportunities she had.

'She lives in the shadow of a lonely girl, voice so quiet you don't hear a word, always talking but she can't be heard...'

Perrie, half-naked, climbed out of bed. Blaine tried to grab her and pull her back in, but she managed to escape his grasp. She smiled at him.

'No, no,' Perrie told him with a cheeky smile. 'You're not pulling me in until I've brushed my teeth, I'll be two minutes!'

Blaine fell back on the bed with a sigh. She couldn't take her eyes off the sweat on his chiselled chest. The abs, too, absorbed her and called her back into bed. She grabbed her phone and forced herself to the bathroom, closing the door behind her. She quickly sent a message in the group chat with the girls, then put the toothpaste on her toothbrush.

As she was in the middle of brushing, her phone buzzed. She looked down, expecting it to be a reply in the group chat. It wasn't any of them, it was someone else phoning her - Eliza.

Perrie dropped her toothbrush into the sink and spat out the toothpaste. She quickly wiped her mouth and picked up her phone.

'Eliza?' Perrie said as soon as she clicked accept. 'Eliza is that you?'

The voice on the other end confirmed it to be her. 'Yes, it's me Perrie. How are you?'

'How am I? How are you?! I'm so happy you're out of your coma. Honestly I am so relieved, you've been a miss around school.'

'Thanks Perrie,' Eliza said. Her voice sounded weak and Perrie could tell it was taking up a lot of strength to be talking on the phone.

'I'm glad you called me.'

'I had to talk to you, for your own sake,' Eliza told her ominously.

'Okay,' Perrie replied a little confused. 'Is everything okay?'

'Not really. It's about Blaine.'

Perrie could feel herself go faint. She already knew what she was going to say. She sat on the edge of the bath.

'Yes?' Perrie managed to say.

'I haven't told the police yet, because I'm still figuring things out, but he was one of the boys who beat me up, who put me in the coma.'

Perrie leaned over the sink next to the bath, already feeling the vomit rise up into her throat.

Eliza continued, 'I know how much you love him, but I implore you to stay away from him. He's dangerous.'

Perrie swallowed, keeping herself from being sick. 'Thank you for letting me know. I'm so sorry Eliza. I am happy you're awake.'

'Thank you,' Eliza said. 'Take care, please, be safe.'

'I will, you too.'

Perrie put the phone down. She rested her head on her arm.

There was a knock on the bathroom door. 'Are you okay in there?' Blaine asked.

Perrie looked at the door, her eyes wide. She struggled to form a sentence, but she knew she had to.

'Yes,' she finally managed to reply. 'Everything's fine.'

'You coming out?' He asked with a hint of flirtation in his voice.

Perrie looked at herself in the mirror. 'Yes,' she said. 'I'll be right there.'
