The next morning Beca wakes up with Chloe laying on her chest. She smiles as she strokes the her hair. As carefully and quietly as possible Beca slides out from under her and heads downstairs to the kitchen. She's met with all her friends.
"Hey shorty what's up?" Amy asked.
"Nothing much ya know?" Beca answered as she made both her and Chloe coffee.
"Any news on Jazmine?" Emily asked.
"Haven't checked my phone yet but I doubt anything has happened between last night and now" she says.
"Hey Guys" Chloe says as she makes her way downstairs.
Beca slides her mug across the counter for Chloe to grab. Chloe smiles before taking a sip.
"What's your plans for the day Chlo?" Stacie asked.
"Well I actually have a date in about three hours" Chloe says and Beca's heart drops.
"With who?" Emily asked.
"Tom O'Riley" she said.
"Well good luck with that. I've got some music stuff to do so I'll see you guys later" Beca says with a fake smile before heading up to her and Amy's room.
As she shut the door she felt a tear slip out of her eye. She was still madly in love with Chloe but couldn't date her. Mike told her she couldn't. That It'd be bad for sales. Now she's lost her and it hurts, a lot. She could feel the tears streaming down her face as she paced around her room. She pulled out her phone and called mike.
"I can't keep pretending" she said the moment he answered.
"Good morning to you too Beca"
"I can't keep pretending I don't love her. She wanted a second chance with me but because of you I had to deny it and now she's off on a date" Beca said crying.
"Beca you can't be with her. She hurt you once before, what's gonna stop her from doing it again."

"It's not like it's been the first time!" She yelled not realizing.
"What do you mean?" He asked and she sighed knowing she can't get out of it.
"When we first started dating back in high school she cheated on me with a guy I grew up with. It was the first time I ever wrote a song." She explained.
"Bec that means she's hurt you twice and you're willing to go back to her? That's not a smart idea."
"I love her so much Mike. I can't not be with her." She said.
"It doesn't matter how much you love her, she's not good for you"
"It doesn't matter what I say because you already won. She's out on a date with some guy" she said sadly.
"Can you come to the studio? I want to hear this first song" he asked.
Beca really didn't want to but she needed a distraction so she agreed. They hung up and Beca left to the studio.
She arrived fifteen minutes later and headed straight to the booth.
"Ready?" Mike asked and Beca nodded.
He pressed record and she began.
Beca's voice cracks with emotion as she reaches the end of the chorus. She could almost feel the pain she felt back then.
As she finished she could feel a single tear roll down her cheek.
"Beca that was amazing" Mike said.
"Thanks." She said as she left the booth.
"Has anyone heard that before?" He asked
"Nope. I always kept it to myself because I though it was too personal" she explained.
"I think you should release it. It shows emotion and I bet people can relate. This song would do so well" Mike told her.
"Maybe. Let me talk to Chloe about it. I don't want her mad at me because of this" Beca said.

"Okay fine, see you tomorrow?" He asked.
"Yep" she answers and leaves.
As she makes her way back to the Bellas house she decided to call an old friend.
"Hello?"
"Hey Chic, long time no talk" she said.
She spent the whole walk home talking to Chicago. She told him about the song and asked if she could release it considering he was the boy next door. Luck for him and Beca, they managed to stay friends after everything. He agreed so Beca just has to talk to Chloe. She told him about the deal and the tours. She also mentioned her breakup with Chloe. He told her about life in the military and how everything is. It was just like old times.
"Well I'm almost at the house and I bet the girls will want a movie night. It was great talking to you. Maybe I can visit you on base before your deployed again?" She asked.
"We'll work something out. I've missed you Bec. Hope you have a good night" he said.
"You too Chic, goodnight" she said hanging up.
She walked up the steps and entered the Bellas house. She saw most the girls in the living room. She said hi before making her way up to her room.
"Beca!" Chloe called running after her.
"Hey Chlo, what's up?" She asked as they both walked into Beca's room.
"Nothing I just haven't seen you all day and wanted to talk. What were you up to today?" She asked.
"I was at the studio because Mike wanted me to record a song. I actually need to talk to you about that" Beca said sitting down on her bed.
"What about it?" Chloe asked taking a seat next to her.
"He wants me to release the first song I ever wrote. That was back senior year of high school. I wrote it after you cheated on me with Chicago. I wanted to ask your permission before releasing it considering it's about all that" Beca said as she played with her fingers.
"Can I hear it?" Chloe asked and Beca nodded.
She walked over to her desk and grabbed the laptop and headphones before walking back. She pulled up her email where Mike sent her the song and handed Chloe the headphones. Once they were on she hit play and watched her. Chloe didn't show any emotion. Once the song was over Chloe pulled the headphones off and set them on her lap.
"Chlo?" Beca asked.
"Holy shit" she said.
"Huh?" Beca asked.
"I hurt you bad" Chloe whispered.
"It's in the past" Beca told her.
"But I still hurt you bad, twice" Chloe said hanging her head.
"Hey it's okay" Beca said reaching over and lifting Chloe's chin.
"But it's not Bec. I loved you so much and still do but I for some reason thought it was okay what I did and it wasn't" Chloe cried.
"It's in the past. You've made mistakes and so have I but there forgivable. Do you think I would've dated you again if I was still upset?" Beca asked.
"No" Chloe mumbled.
"Exactly. I managed to stay friends with Chicago and get back with you after everything that happened. It's okay" Beca said with a small smile.
"I still love you Beca. Please know that" Chloe said as she leaned to hug her.
"I know Chlo, I still love you too"

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
