"How long will you be?" Jenkins asked.
"About 15 minutes." Hunt replied. "If we aren't back, just come into the bathroom."
*****
Ethan and August walked into the bathroom, looking around for John Lark. Well, they thought the person looked like John Lark. Once they found him, August signalled to him. It was only a nod but Ethan understood what he meant.
Holding the needle with a drug in his hand, he walked closer to the man known as John Lark. Little did he know, John Lark actually sensed that someone was walking towards him. John clenched his fists and turned to look at Ethan. August looked at Ethan, slightly worried. Ethan glanced at him.
"I'll be fine." He mouthed to him. Walker stared at the ground.
That's when John started the fight. His clenched fist hit Ethan's jaw. Ethan fought back, realising that he had promised his wife that he wouldn't hurt himself. The next thing he didn't realise that August stepped in to help him. He grabbed Lark's arms and held them firmly behind his back. Ethan started throwing punches. But, suddenly, he dropped the needle.
August grabbed the suitcase he carried into the bathroom and slapped Lark with it, making him go unconscious.
Ethan looked at August. "Where's the needle?"
"Didn't need it." August replied.
The men carried Lark to a stall. Ethan opened the suitcase and stared at the face recognition machine. He turned it on and held it close to John's face.
August looked at the face recognition machine and sighed. "How long will this take?"
"A few minutes." Ethan said. He then mumbled. "I can't believe I lost the freakin' needle. Benji's gonna be pissed."
Benjamin, well Benji, Dunn was a British spy working for the IMF. He joined Ethan's team in 2006. He was about 40 years of age, well that's what he looked like. He never stated his age nor would he ever state his age. He found his original job, as a technician, boring. Working in the IMF made him happy as Larry.

He always was a guy full of comedy. Every day he would come up with hilarious jokes, quotes, anything he found funny, and he would say it to his co-workers. Unlike Ethan, who found this hilarious, Ilsa Faust hated his jokes. She found work more important than jokes.
'Benjamin, stop with the bloody jokes! They're pointless! What would you rather: comedy acts or a very important mission that someone dies in? You would probably go with the comedy acts. You've chosen the wrong job.' Ilsa just hated comedy.
Lark's eyes started to open. He felt confused. Why was he in a stall? He recognised the men in front of him. He had enough energy left in him.
John started punching the spies. Ethan punched back. He found it hard to dodge the punches as the stall was small. Lark kicked Ethan, breaking the stall door.
August quickly attacked Lark with punches; Lark was attacking August with punches. Walker grabbed Lark, throwing him onto the floor. Lark got on top of him and punched him near the throat. After he punched Walker, John threw kicks and punches at Ethan. The IMF spy was able to block the punches and kicks.
August managed to get up. He ran towards Lark and threw him into the mirror, smashing the mirror in the process. This immediately made Lark grab a pipe from one of the sinks. He started attacking Ethan with it but August held him back.
John wrapped the pipe around August's neck and made him fall to the floor. Lark attacked Ethan with the pipe, eventually getting it around his neck and arm.
Walker stood up. He stared at Lark and Hunt. Then, he took his jacket off and reloaded his biceps. He punched Lark, allowing Ethan to get some energy. Lark punched Walker violently in the stomach. August became weak. He couldn't attack John anymore.
Ethan ran towards Lark, ramming him into a wall. Lark found a gun in a stall near him. He grabbed it. Ethan tried to stop him.

Ilsa was nearby. She heard yelling and heavy breathing. She saw her former spy partner, Courtney Jenkins, staring at the bathroom door.
"Are you alright?" Faust asked, walking towards her.
"Hunt and Walker are in there." Jenkins said, gesturing to the men's bathroom. "I'm supposed to be waiting for them. They're 10 minutes late."
Ilsa stared at Courtney's bag. "Is there a gun in it?"
Courtney opened the bag and held a gun in her hand. "I'm assuming you're going to use it."
"Mhm." Faust grabbed the gun. "You can come with me if you want."
*****
Lark aimed the gun at Ethan's forehead. He wanted to kill him. He had to. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, he dropped the gun and fell to the floor.
Ethan grabbed the gun, aiming it at the person that shot Lark. He realised who it was. Ilsa. She wasn't the only female in the room. Courtney was there too.
Ilsa held the gun down. She had just murdered Lark.
Jenkins stared at the dead body. "Shit."
Courtney looked at the devastation of the bathroom. She walked around to the other side and found August.
She whispered. "Are you alright? Did he hurt you?"
August looked at her. "How did you.."
"Hunt said to come in if you weren't back in 15 minutes." She said.
August walked to Ethan and Ilsa, Courtney following him. The spies looked at the dead body of John Lark.
"Can you still make a mask?" Walker asked.
"I need a face to make a mask." Ethan said.
"Sorry, I was aiming for the chest." Ilsa interrupted their conversation.
"What are you doing here?" Hunt asked.
"It's good to see you too." Ilsa said, being sarcastic.
"I'm confused." August stared at Ilsa. "You are?"
"An old friend." Ethan replied.
The spies threw August's jacket over Lark's body and carried him to a stall.
Courtney looked at them. "What are we going to do now?"
"I'll have to go as Lark." Ethan sighed.
"He had a date with the woman, not you." August raised his voice. "What if she knows what he looks like?"
"Let's just hope they've never met."
"Your plan won't work, Ethan." Courtney frowned. "I'm not going."
"Courtney, you agreed to do this on Sunday!" Ethan said. "Why are you suddenly giving up?"
"I'm not going to a drug dealer's party." She stared at the bathroom door, realising that someone was about to open it.
The door opened. Ilsa quickly grabbed August's jaw, holding it up and pretending to be a nurse.
"That's it, just take it easy." Ilsa said. "That's it.
Just keep your head back until the bleeding stops."
Courtney grabbed her phone and pretended to call somebody. "A man has been hurt. He's bleeding badly. Send an ambulance."
Ethan walked towards the men and said something to them. He frightened them, making them leave.
The male IMF agent stared at the female assassin. "Just because the White Widow could be a drug dealer doesn't mean you don't go to the party. You're not the one that's going to approach her."
"I'm still not going." Courtney said. "I don't want to be around hundreds of drunk people."
"You'll have someone with you." August looked at her. "You're not going to be left alone."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Fine, I'll go." She looked at Ethan.
Ethan smiled slightly. He was a bit pleased.
"But... you'll have to do something in return."

For those unfamiliar with my writing style, Second Chances was my first attempt at writing. I'm not sure how much I learned in the process, except that readers get angry when you mess with characters they like! Warnings - I tend to info dump. I know I do this, I like slice of life novels that take time to unfold. So don't expect action, murder, and battles in every chapter, it isn't going to happen I prefer the first-person narrative. I will do an occasional POV shift, but it will never be done mid-chapter. I hope you enjoy the story, comments, ratings, and favorites are greatly appreciated!

Asturian Warbringer - A LitRPG on Earth
Currently releasing 5 chapters a week Luke Kells liked only one thing about himself: his green eyes. He hated getting bullied, hated being poor, hated being an orphan, hated his weakness, hated the government, hated his life. If someone had given him a button to push and kill everyone but him and his granddad, he would've done it without a second thought. Then, one day, after fainting during a beating, he woke up with memories that would change his life. Magic, martial arts, how to craft special artifacts; he knew it all. Anyone would’ve taken that path to glory at once. However, he had to deal with a lot on his plate first. To even begin walking that path, Luke first had to deal with his own psychological issues. Almost two years of brutal bullying that was akin to torture and no support from the school staff of the police had left him with a broken soul. Before even realizing he could be rich or powerful, he had to bring himself out of the mental hellhole he found himself in. Oh, and his memories also told him the Sentinel Tower would change reality in six months to protect the planet from the Demonic Horde. But that wasn’t as important as not making the local bully angry, right? A story about personal growth, overcoming obstacles, and reaching absolute glory at the end of the path. This is a slow-paced, character-centered story. If you want something faster paced, filled with almost immediate and nonstopping action, check out my other novel: Modern Awakening - A cultivation, LitRPG, apocalyptic novel. Artifice: Iysinfyr
Nalulthyn is the young daughter of a duke that is one day asked for a favor. This favor involves the adopted daughter of the duke from a neighboring area. This girl has had a traumatic past and has closed herself off from the world completely and reacts violently when touched by anyone but her personal maid. The duke hopes that a girl close to the age of his adoptive daughter will be what she needs to recover, but things are never as easy as they seem. First is that this adopted daughter is a Terran, a rare being from a different world that has skin and hair as white as snow and an almost alien build. Second is that there is a power to this girl, one that makes her recovery all the more dangerous to Nalulthyn and perhaps beyond. Author's note: This is a soft reboot of Artifice: Tools of the Gods. As I wrote the other story years ago I felt it would be better to do this approach as my writing has changed and improved since then. For now only two characters will return though I might reintroduce others later in the story. Even though this has the gore tag, I don't plan on being excessive with it. Most chapters shouldn't have any. The only reason I have it is to be realistic with the descriptions.
