《MOAS ; Coming Home》Maveth

After Hunter and Morse told us that Coulson sky-dived into the Monolith portal, they joined Zephyr One as we have four Quinjet around us including The B.U.S., and I now step up to the Quinjet to meet Hunter and Morse.
"One of you want to tell me what Coulson was thinking jumping out of the Quinjet like that?" I ask Hunter and Morse incredulously as I meet them on the landing bay.
"I would say he wasn't so much thinking as feeling... Feeling that Ward needs to die." Hunter explains to me.
"And you didn't try to stop him." I say to Hunter incredulously.
"Full disclosure... I was planning on jumping, as well. Again, less thinking than feeling." Hunter explains.
"Coulson went into the Monolith Portal to get our people." Morse says to me.
"'Our people', what are you talking about?" I ask her confused.
"We believe that Ward took Fitz or Simmons through the portal with him." Hunter states.
"Hopefully, Coulson can find them and bring them back safely. All we have to do is take control of the castle and open the portal so they can return." Morse explains.
"So, just take the ultra-fortified H.Y.D.R.A. Castle and open the alien portal. That's it?" I ask them, and Morse shrug slightly, motioning a 'Yes' "You know, you're wired different than most folks." I say to them.
"I'm not saying it'll be easy." Morse admits.
"I wouldn't mind hearing it's gonna be easy." Hunter admits.
"It'll be easy." Morse assure him a lie.
"Doesn't work if I know you're lying." Hunter tells her.
"Lyra-or, director, you guys should get down here." Skye says to me over coms.
Myself, Hunter and Morse then all head up to Zephyr One and meet up with May, Skye, Lincoln and Gutierrez and Skye shows us one of the wall computers where it shows live Infra-red footage of the Castle and H.Y.D.R.A. agents, and they seem to be unloading possible more weapons from some trucks.
"This is H.Y.D.R.A.'s compound outside the castle. And these two trucks were just unloaded." Skye explains.
"What are they bringing in now? More weapons?" Lincoln asks us as I look closer at the infra-red.
"Inhuman's." I state "They're stockpiling Inhuman's. Looks like 10 or 12 of those gel-matrix containers, all of which we're going to save." I explain.
"Garner, he's probably down there, as well." May says to me.
"Then we save him, too." I assure her.
"Okay. So, are we rescuing Inhumans or saving Coulson or attacking H.Y.D.R.A. or is there some kind of combo? Sorry. New guy just trying to understand how this whole S.H.I.E.L.D. thing works." Gutierrez says to me.
"This is how S.H.I.E.L.D. works. You make a plan, plan turns to rubbish, we make a new plan. Oh, just to be crystal clear, this is the part where the plan turns to rubbish." Hunter explains to Gutierrez.
"Whatever the new plan, we need to make sure those Inhumans are safe." Lincoln says to me.
"And find Fitz and Simmons." Morse says to me.
"And we get Coulson back through the portal." Skye says to me.
"Would everyone just shut up a second?" I ask them, and they do so "Even cloaked, H.Y.D.R.A.'s missiles will find us if we get too close. And I will not be the one who has to tell Coulson we got his fancy new plane blown up. Now, the only way to take the castle and secure the portal is on the Q.T.'s That means no gunfire and no backup. We leave all tactical support up here. Is that clear?" I ask them, and they all nod, yes "Two infiltration teams... One to search the compound for Fitz or Simmons and one to secure the portal. We'll take care of everyone, including the Inhumans." I tell them all "Johnson, satellite's at your disposal, find us a back door." I order Skye.
"Copy that." Skye tells me before she walks over to a computer.
"Gutierrez, when we get our back door, I need you to melt every door we need to get through." I order him.
"Yes, boss." Gutierrez says to me.
"Lincoln, once we get to the ground do you think you can short-circuit everything H.Y.D.R.A. has with a charge going through it's circuits?" I ask him.
"Yes, Director." Lincoln assures me.
"Great, that means all they have is their automatics which means we have our eyes in the sky, and during; The B.U.S. will collect all of the Inhuman's in captivity. Mack, Hunter and Morse, I need you to be my eyes. Did everyone get that?" I ask everyone.
"Yes, Director." Everyone over Zephyr One, the Quinjet's and The B.U.S. tell me.
"Director, I have our back door." Skye tells me.
"Fantastic. May, Skye, Lincoln, Gutierrez, let's move." I tell them before we leave.
After Skye gave us our back door, the sewers leading from the Castle and to the forest May, myself, Skye, Lincoln and Gutierrez approach the sewers, and Gutierrez raises his right hand towards the metal bars that blocks off the sewer, and he melts them with his ability as May holds her gun at the ready for her ability.
"Nicely done, Gutierrez." I congratulate Gutierrez before we enter the sewers, and there are two paths, the left leading the front of the Castle and the right to the back where the Monolith Portal is.
"May, Lincoln and Gutierrez. Go find Fitz or Simmons." I tell them, and May, Lincoln and Gutierrez take the left path before Skye and myself take the right.
As Myself and Skye approach the Monolith Portal, we enter the room to see four armed H.Y.D.R.A. agents with the old technology replaced with modern technology to open the Monolith Portal, which has Five carvings on the Monolith inside the portal. Skye then quakes two of the agents by holding up both of her hands towards them as I take out my gun and fire at them with my ability following through the bullets, killing all four of the agents.
"We're in. May, your status?" I ask her.
"I have Simmons, she says Ward took Fitz through the Monolith Portal. We're heading your way, now." May informs me.
"Copy that. Lincoln, Gutierrez, your status?" I ask them.
"We found the Inhuman's and Garner, they're safe." Lincoln tells me.
"Alright. B.U.S., pick up Lincoln, Gutierrez, Garner and the Inhuman's." I tell them.
"Yes, Director." The pilot of The B.U.S. tells me.
After a few minutes, we hear footsteps begin to approach the room, so Skye raises her right hand at the door in warning as I raise my gun, but May and Simmons suddenly step inside, and come to a sudden stop when they see us.
"Simmons." I smile at her as Skye rushes towards her before embracing her in a hug, and Simmons smiles as she hugs back.
"Hydra knows we grabbed her. How secure are we in here?" May asks me as Skye and Simmons pull away from their embrace.
"Rough estimate? Not very." I admit before I put my gun back in its holster and I crouch down to the floor before placing my right hand on the floor, and I send a small wave throughout the Castle to find the entrances apart from the one we came through. I then place both of my hands on the floor before I send out small waves across the castle, and I collapse the entrances I can find with my barriers "Now we're fully secured." I assure them as I stand back up "Now, do you have any idea how these rocks work? Is that counting down to a good thing or a bad thing?" I refer to the Monolith carvings and the counting down clock on one of the computers.
"It's the time remaining until the portal reopens. And, I don't believe we have to do anything to these rocks. They're configured so they'll activate at the designated time." Simmons explains.
"So that's a good thing." May says to her.
"That depends on whether Fitz can locate the extraction point and who or what is with him." Simmons says to us.
"He'll make it. Coulson's there." I assure her.
"I know, but it's more complicated than that. Ward's mission is to bring the Inhuman that is trapped there, back. It's kind of like an Ancient H.Y.D.R.A. God." Simmons explains.
"Malick sent Ward to bring back some Ancient H.Y.D.R.A. God?" I ask her confused.
"Well, he didn't use those exact words, but that's the general idea, yes. It's why he had the ATCU collect Inhumans, why he shipped them here to the castle... Some kind of army for this powerful alien." Simmons explains to me.
"Look, we all want Fitz and Coulson back. What if that thing comes back, too? Your mother was terrified of the Monolith for a reason." May says to myself and Skye.
"You think the H.Y.D.R.A. thing is what she was afraid of?" Skye asks him confused.
"When S.H.I.E.L.D. fell, Fury sent Mack and Morse onto the Iliad to keep H.Y.D.R.A. from getting their hands on that Monolith. What if he knew that they wanted to bring this creature back through it?" I ask them before looking to Simmons "You were there. Did you see it? What's it like?" I ask her.
"I did see it. But I can't really describe what it looked like. It's more how it felt, which is old and pained, as if it once had great power but lost it. And the entire planet is a wasteland. How that came to be, I can't really say, not in any scientific terms, but my sense and certainly Will's heartfelt belief was that the creature is the one responsible... That it caused the desolation." Simmons explains to us.
"Look, whatever we decide to do isn't the end of the mission. We can't destroy it before Fitz and Coulson return, not when we're this close." I explain to them.
"What if the creature comes through instead?" May asks me.
"Then it's got S.H.I.E.L.D. to deal with." I tell her.
"And what if we can't kill it?" May asks me.
"Get everyone through the tunnel and back up to Zephyr One. I'm going to stay here until the last possible second for Coulson, Fitz, and Will. Now, if H.Y.D.R.A. or that alien thing gets inside here, you light this castle and compound up with every missile on that plane." I tell May.
"What? No, I'm not-" Skye tries to say, but I cut her off.
"-Hey! What part of 'That's an order' do you not understand?! Coulson put me in charge to make the hard call, and that's what I'm doing. We can't afford to lose our best agents in one fell swoop... Not here, not tonight! Now, if I don't get out... May's the new director. That's what Coulson would want." I tell all of them.
"Okay. But one thing... I'm staying with you, because, A, I can keep the portal open with you if something goes wrong, and, B, I'm your sister." Skye tells me, and I look at her with worry,
"... Technically, that's two things..." I say to her, and she shows me a small smile "Skye stays. Everyone else, get the hell out of here!" I tell them, and both May and Simmons leave.
I then look over at the to the clock counting down for when the Monolith Portal will reopen, and it's counting down two minutes.
"Thank you." Skye says, and I turn to look at her confused.
"What?" I ask her confused.
"Thank you for being there when I didn't deserve you, thank you for saving my life countless times, thank you for being my older sister-" Skye tries to say, but I cut her off.
"-Stop talking like that." I walk over to her.
"Thankyou for-" Skye tries to say, but I cut her off again as I place both of my hands on her shoulders.
"-I said stop. Coulson, Fitz and Will are going to make it through that portal, and then we are going to go back to H.Q. and you and Lincoln are going to train the hell out of those Inhuman's because they need you. You gave me my defining moment, and now you are going to lead them on a journey to their own, my 小妹妹 [baby sister]." I tell her before the room begins to shake, and we both look to the Monolith carvings to see that the Monolith Portal is open as I feel a strong force trying to push me away from it, and I look to Skye to see her squinting and holding her head in her right hand "Hey." I say to her as I take her left hand in my right hand "We do this together." I smile at her.
"Together." Skye smiles back as she drops her right hand and we both look to the Monolith Portal. I then begin to feel something wet on my upper lip, my nose bleeding "We're out of time." She says, and I look to her to see her nose is bleeding, too, before she passes out, and I catch her in both of my hands before I lay her on the ground on her back.
"It's alright, I know what to do." I assure her before I raise both of my hands towards the Monolith Portal, and I keep it open by forcing a Psionic force field inside of it "Coulson!!!" I shout for him as I begin to taste a metallic taste in my mouth "Aahhh!!!" I scream, Coulson and Fitz suddenly jump out of the Monolith Portal "Aahhh!!!" I scream louder before I take my right hand, ball a fist before smash the centre of the Monolith, and I stop screaming when it crumbles into nothing "M-move!" I shout as I pick up Skye in my arms, her head resting on my right shoulder "Thirty seconds May." I tell her over my com before I run and lead Coulson out of the Castle "We're coming home." I assure May.
As I stand in my office, I have just finished packing a duffle bag to follow the coordinates I was sent, and I place my duffle bag onto my desk before reaching and picking up a photograph from my desk with my right hand, and it's an old unfolded picture of me and Skye, the day she was born.
"Are you sure I can't come?" Someone asks, and I put the photo down and turn around to see Lincoln in the door way of my office.
"You have your hands full here, you need to help Skye help the Inhuman's get through what they need to get through." I explain to him as he walks over to me with his hands behind his back.
"I know, thats why I got you this." Lincoln takes his hands together in front of him before he reaches behind my neck, and something falls on my chest, and as he places his hands on my waist, and I look down to see a clear crystal necklace "It was my moms." He says to me as I wrap my arms around the back of his neck.
"It's beautiful." I touch it with my right index fingers, and he also touches it with his right index finger before the crystal turns an electric blue.
"To keep you safe, whenever you need to use it." Lincoln smiles down at me, and I smile up at him thoughtfully "What are you thinking?" He continues to smile.
"At how lucky I am to have you, to have a family. I never thought I would ever have this." I admit to him before I lean into his body and kiss him, and he kisses back with a smile.
"Oh, get an office." Someone says, and I pull away from mine and Lincoln's kiss to see Hunter walk in "I want an office." He says as Morse and Mack follow in after him.
"I would get an office before you, first come, first served." Fitz says as he walks in carrying Rosco in his arms.
"We have a lab." Simmons walks in with May as Lincoln and myself pull away from each other, and he places his right hand on the small of my back.
"I'm the Director's second, I should be getting an office." May says to all of them.
"We could go global?" Coulson asks as he walks in, and he looks to me.
"Global... The right way." I smile at him.
"That's if you'll have us back." Morse says to me.
"What do you say?" Coulson holds out a S.H.I.E.L.D. badge to me, and I smile at it before looking around the room. Where's Skye..?
After biding my farewells to Coulson, May, Fitz, Simmons, Hunter, Mack, Morse, Lincoln and Rosco, I have my duffle hanging over my left shoulder down to my right hip with my motorcycle keys on my right middle finger as I walk into the loading dock to see Skye standing with her back to me and a few feet away from my motorcycle with my helmet resting on top. I then sneak up on Skye before I grab her by the waist and spin her around to look at me, but she only smiles momentarily.
"... You don't have to go." Skye says to me.
"Now, what kind of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent would I be if I didn't answer a possible distress call?" I ask her, but she doesn't seem happy about the news about me being a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent again "What's wrong?" I ask her confused.
"... Last time you left, you never came back until you were forced to." Skye say to me.
"Commitment to a job is one thing, commitment to a family is another." I say to her.
"I'm your family." Skye states.
"And now I have about a hundred more family members thanks to you. I came to S.H.I.E.L.D. to be with you, to rescue you from your vigilante-self. But it turns out you were never the one whom needed rescuing, it was me." I admit to her, and she looks to me confused with tears in her eyes "I was never the one to rescue you when we young, you rescued me. And you kept rescuing me and you still are. My defining moment, my... Daisy..." I trail off as I embrace her, and she hugs me back as I run my right hand threw her hair "... I will never leave you again, I promise." I promise her.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Obligate of a Self-Ordained Sorcerer
Come join the Discord! It was a typical late-night friday for Mara, secluded in her apartment in front of a digital expanse, relentlessly mashing code into a keyboard. An introverted workaholic, but this was what she wanted - what she had strived so hard to achieve. So why did she feel so lost? Her life was productive, comfortable, satisfying. Plenty had it worse but she still felt... ungrateful? Stunted? The right word escaped her, but she could feel the general revelation settling upon her. With it came a choice that would set events in motion far beyond the meager scope of a 'New Game+'. So taking an intrusive portal to god-knows-where, Mara will come to find that her new world offers boons and banes with equal abandon. Magic, skills, and unforgiving difficulty. For a frail human shut-in, finding herself stranded in the middle of a sprawling dungeon was one of the least desirable outcomes. Food and water would be the least of her problems, why oh why couldn't she just get summoned by some pervy king to slay a demon army or something? This is a story of magic and adventure with skills and stats galore. A litrpg / isekai epic that I've been inspired to make after years of wonderful works like "So I'm a Spider," "Rimuru the Slime," "Azarinth Healer," "Negima!?," and plethora of other isekai and fantasy novels and animes. Special shout-out to Douglas Adams, a big influence on narative humor that's had a non-insignificant effect on my writing style. I hope you enjoy joining Mara on her journey as I attempt to scratch the itch they left behind.Chapters target 3-6k~ words. Though I'm personally aiming for a chapter every couple weeks, I think I can at least promise one a month with how busy work's been. I made a Patreon due to requests, if you'd like to support me there I'll be using it to fund artwork and RR ads for increased exposure.
