《The End of a Contract - Xiao X Reader》6 : Life

Well this is quite the predicament. Y/N is being burned and tortured by a Pyro Abyss Mage while Xiao, the person who swore to protect
Y/N no matter what, is frozen. Helplessly watching another one of the people he treasured writhe in pain before him. Soon enough both of them will be dead.
Xiao can't even shed a single tear.
"I guess this is the end for me. I'll see you soon, friends."
And just finally he could see the light. He tried getting closer but the light was hot. No one ever said it would be hot. But why is it so hot that Xiao felt like he was burning alive ?
A few seconds later Xiao could feel his limbs again and broke free of his icy prison. He looks up, vision still blurry, to see Y/N bursting with flames.
"Y/N.. Y/N got a vision !"
It was a pyro vision to be exact. Right as Y/N was about to reach their breaking point they felt a surge of power suddenly flow through them. Unable to control, Y/N aimlessly released all of the elemental energy. Blowing away all of the abyss mages and releasing Xiao from his frozen state.
Xiao couldn't help but stare in awe at Y/N. There was so much elemental energy Xiao could barely handle it.
Eventually the fire that Y/N was died down and Xiao looked for the abyss mages to slay them once and for all. Once he was done with that he went back to the Y/N's camp to see everything had been burned in their outburst. And Y/N was sitting on the ground sobbing.
I hurry over to Y/N's side quickly.
"Y/N, what's wrong ?"
Instead of answering, they just sob louder. I look around at the destruction and then I understand. Everything was destroyed but shouldn't he be happy we at least were able to get out alive ?

"Hey, I know it looks like things are going bad, but should we be grateful we're still alive ? If you hadn't gotten your vision at that moment we would be dead. So thank you, you saved me."
Slowly Y/N's sobs start to quiet down and after a while they'd top completely to look up at me.
"Xiao... thank you."
They wrap their arms around my neck and pull me into a hug, shocked I step back but ease in to the hug and put my arms around them as well.
"I should be the one thanking you—"
They nuzzle their head into the my shoulder even more.
"No."
How ridiculous. Humans really are strange creatures. But why has this one made me smile so much ? My stomach feels heavy and I feel my heart beat faster. What is this feeling ? I've never felt this way before—
* s n o r e *
My thoughts get interrupted by a loud snore coming from the person beside me. I chuckle to myself. They must be tired. But we can't stay here.
"Hm... where should we go... maybe I can... well it's my only choice so."
I pick up Y/N and hang them over my shoulder as I head off to Jueyun Karst. To go pay a visit to a friend.
I reach the summit of Mt. Aozang and call out.
"Cloud Retainer ?"
...
"It's me, Xiao."
"What does one need ?"
"A friend of mine got badly injured in a fight and we have nowhere to stay so can we stay in your domain for now ?"
"Oh ? One has a new friend ? One does not remember the last time one has given that title to someone last. Oh well, one can make room for two more people. Come in, but make sure to keep your friend behaved."

"Sure."
I step inside Cloud Retainers domain and jump up to where they are located. They see Y/N's current state and find it in their heart to heal them for me. And with that the night ends.
Today was quite an eventful today.
I hope Y/N is okay... only time will tell the answer now.
It's strange... I'm actually looking forward to when Y/N wakes up... oh well.
I shake those thoughts off of my head and quickly lay down next to Y/N to sleep.
Exhausted, I don't find it very hard to sleep tonight. But I think sleeping next to Y/N helped me fall asleep faster.
Maybe... sleeping next to them more often won't be so bad.

Placebo Effect
It’s was the end of the world and to be honest from what I’ve heard, life wasn’t too different to the world I know today… Besides the fact that we live online, obviously. I’m still in cyber debt, life from what I hear still sucks as much as it did back then, but maybe, just maybe I can scratch beneath the surface of this disillusioned world and disconnect universally; I might have a chance to experience true life in its purest form.

The book of forever
An experimental diary of sorts recounting my life and experiences, written as a slightly whimsical scifi story about setting off from the past to unknown lands, rebuilding from nothing and finding myself again. The first section of the book contains matched chapters, a chapter for a interlude, both happening at the same time roughly The second section of the book contains more one off stories as we follow one of the travelers explore their heart as well as a unknown land, growing in the process. All of the text here was written in 10 syllable chunks, this reads like a epic of sorts, just with more philosophical focus and POV jumps. Hope you enjoy! >Updates may be sporadic as I only write when I have something about myself I want to share The chapters can all be read individually, although there may be some crossovers between them they work as single poems. You start at whatever chapter you want since these are a collection of roughly connected poems (although you'll notice tie ins and references to eachother)
