《Only you can make me feel better... (Calamity x Drift)》Chapter 36: Tricked

I was starting to wake up with a light headache, making me groan slightly. I felt an arm go around my waist, holding it. As I slowly opened my eyes, I saw something on my right side. My head slowly turned to the right side, and I was met with... SANCTUM?! I widen my eyes and wanted to scream for help and stand up to run away, but I couldn't as I noticed a bandanna was tied around my mouth, and I was sitting on the ground with my wrists in shackles. I let out a muffled whimper because of how scared I was. I didn't know what was going on. How is he alive? I'm 100% sure I killed him!
Sanctum said chuckling. He said. Damn he was right. Sanctum explained. I widen my eyes as I heard this. No... Drift would never let anything like this happen. I know he's lying! I noticed Sanctum was eyeing my body, which did make me feel uncomfortable. He said with a low voice as he got closer. I tried squirming away as he was still holding my waist, but couldn't because the chains were too short. I whimpered as he got real close, since I couldn't move anywhere. Sanctum whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. His hand, which was holding my waist, slowly made it under my coat, and then slid under my blouse with his cold hand touching my bare back, making me slightly squeak because of his sudden cold touch. I got goosebumps all over my body and shivered. I felt his hand creep up, but just then, the door opened, making Sanctum quickly back away from me. Thank god! I don't need to know what Sanctum would've done to me if that person didn't enter.
Dusk entered and looked at us. Dusk said looking at me, smirking. I changed my look from a fearful face to an angry face. She then turned to Sanctum. Dusk asked. Sanctum answered, standing up and walking out of the cell. He locked the door of the cell and took a last glance at me before he and Dusk left the room. I now had the time to inspect the place I was and apparently I'm in a sort of dungeon I think. It's dark, but there is some light from a few torches on the walls. Not to mention, it was pretty cold, but thank god I had my coat. This place does give me really creepy vibes. I just hope the others will come for me real soon. I can't stand this place. But I'm mostly worried about Sunstrider. I really hope the team found her and took her back to safety.

As me and Dusk were walking back upstairs, someone decided to chit chat again. "You're going to pay for what you just did to Calamity!" Drift yelled. I said. Drift said but I cut him off. I commanded and Drift huffed.
When we made it back to the throne room, Dusk just handed me a small piece of paper. I asked raising a brow. Dusk answered, crossing her arms over her chest, looking at me with a smirk. I read what was written on the piece of paper. 'If you want her back, come to the small house close to Frosty flights at 12 pm. Make sure no one stays back at the HQ, otherwise she'll meet her fate...' I look up to Dusk with a slight confused face.
I asked. Dusk said. I suggested. Dusk tapped her chin, thinking about my suggestion. I added. Dusk mentioned. I said. Dusk had a questioning face. I suggested. Dusk said smirking. I smirked back and we started walking back towards the dungeon.
As we made in the dungeon, Calamity's head shot up as she heard our footsteps. Dusk unlocked the door of the cell and walked in, with me behind her. Dusk asked with a low voice, yet kindly. She kneeled down in front of her and I stood next to Dusk. I noticed Calamity tried to avoid eye contact with me. Dusk pulled the bandanna down, making her able to speak again. Calamity asked glaring at Dusk. Dusk said, but only received a more deadlier glare from Calamity. Dusk said. Calamity gave Dusk a confused face. Calamity asked, slightly raising her voice. Dusk said, getting frustrated. Calamity said, slightly shooting forwards. I could see the rage in Dusk's eyes grow...
Just then, Dusk brutally slapped Calamity's cheek. Because of the huge impact, the side of her head hit the wall quite hard, making Calamity loudly moan in pain. I heard Drift gasp in my head, but that made me smirk. Calamity slightly panted and slowly turned her head back to us, but looking down. Dusk harshly grabbed Calamity by her jaw and made her look up. Blood started dripping from her head down to her face pretty severely. Drift yelled in anger and shock. I asked chuckling and I heard Drift growl. Dusk yelled, while her grip on her jaw tightened, making her sharp nails slowly dig into Calamity's skin. Calamity answered weakly with her eyes slightly closed, still panting. Dusk released her jaw, making her head drop from weakness.
She then growled in anger, raising her hand in the air, ready to slap Calamity again. Drift begged. Before Dusk's hand flew down to her cheek, I quickly grabbed her wrist, stopping her from slapping her. Dusk yelled, pulling her hand out of my grip. Drift sighed in relief. Drift said over and over again. I said glaring at her. Dusk asked, raising her voice. She was really mad. I yelled back. Dusk asked glaring at me with dagger eyes. I said.

Dusk looked at me with a deadly face, and so did I. Dusk said coldly to Calamity and ruthlessly put the bandanna back on Calamity's mouth, making her wince in pain since Dusk had no sense of mercy right now. Dusk said frustrated, but was slightly more calm. She then walked out of the cell. I don't know why, but I had the intention to wipe the blood off her face. But before I could, I got interrupted. Dusk said, putting a hand on her hip. I sighed and stood up, also walking out of the cell. Dusk locked it and left the dungeon, walking back upstairs with me walking right behind her.
Dusk complained as she sat down on her throne, and so did I on my own throne. I said reassuring her.
Dusk asked looking over to me. I nodded and showed it to her. Dusk explained and I nodded. For the rest of the time, we didn't do anything special...
As it quickly became morning, John woke up and sat up right. He stretched his arms and relaxed again, looking around. He noticed a piece of paper next to him, on the nightstand. He was confused, because he doesn't remember that being there when he went to sleep. He picked it up and read what it said. His eyes widened as he realized this note is from the people who kidnapped Calamity. And he was even more shocked that they got in the house to leave this note. He jumped out of bed, quickly changed in his outfit and woke everyone up in the house, telling them to go to the HQ because of an emergency. He also called Brite and Raptor to go to the HQ. John was now waiting at the HQ, sitting at the table. He was fidgeting with his fingers from panic.
After some time, everyone arrived at the HQ. They all sat down and looked at John. Dire asked worried. John just gave the note to Dire, because he was still in slight shock. Dire read it and widen his eyes. He mumbled in disbelief. Raptor asked curiously. Dire read out loud and looked up to the others. Sunstrider exclaimed. John finally spoke, catching Sunstriders attention. Brite said. Abstract asked. Brite yelled, shooting forward, with her hands slammed on the table. Raptor said softly, putting an arm around her shoulder. Brite calmed down and sighed.
John said, looking at Abstract, and he nodded.Raptor asked. John said, rubbing his chin. Carbide asked. Technique said nodding. Dire suggested. John nodded, looking at Dire. John said looking at the clock on the wall. Everyone agreed and went back home to get ready.
After everyone got ready and had their stuff, they met up at the HQ again. They started walking towards the snow area. It was a longer walk than usual, since it was all the way across the map. But after a tiring walk, they made it at the small house close to Frosty Flights. They didn't see anyone there, so they got a little suspicious. John said quietly, but loud enough for the others to hear.
Someone suddenly said. They all turned to where the voice came from, and saw Sanctum in front of them. They were all shocked because of how fast he appeared all of a sudden. John quickly aimed his scar at him. John asked sternly. Sanctum said chuckling. Carbide demanded, also aiming his scar at Sanctum. Sanctum said, gesturing to Sunstrider, who was terrified. Everyone turned to Sunstrider and noticed her scared look. Technique went over to her, putting an arm around her to calm her down. She said, almost whispering. Abstract asked, looking at Sunstrider. Sunstrider said, struggling slightly because of her fear towards Sanctum. Everyone got shocked as they heard this. Brite got furious and looked at Sanctum really angry. Brite lashed out to Sanctum. Sanctum didn't say anything and just smirked. But you could still see that, even though he had a mask on. Brite asked, as her angry face expression changed into a sad one. Sanctum said, making Brite and the rest sigh in relief.
Sanctum added.
Brite yelled. Technique said, also getting frustrated. Sanctum said shrugging his shoulders. Carbide asked in anger and shock. Sanctum said and chuckled. John said looking angry. Sanctum asked. Dire said with furrowed brows. Sanctum said and laughed evilly. Dire yelled. Sanctum simply replied. Raptor asked. Sanctum explained. John said shocked.Sanctum said with a fake sweet voice.
John said, coldly glaring at Sanctum. Sanctum asked glaring. John said, glaring back at Sanctum. Sanctum said laughing evilly. Abstract yelled pointing to Sanctum. And blasted off in the air. John said smirking and pulled out a small pistol, but it didn't look like an ordinary pistol. He aimed at Sanctum and pulled the trigger. A thin electric laser shot Sanctum, making him groan in pain and fall to the ground, knocked out. Everyone walked over to Sanctum's unconscious body and looked at him. Raptor said. John said. Dire and Raptor picked Sanctum up, and the team started walking back to the HQ.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
