《Only you can make me feel better... (Calamity x Drift)》Chapter 22: The potion is ready

The morning was almost over as me and the team were waiting at the HQ at the big round table were we would meet and discuss plans, to receive a call from Dire. He was supposed to trick Calamity while in his werewolf form, because if Calamity doesn't know us, then she also doesn't know about Dire being a werewolf. We figured Calamity would probably head to the villain base to see if Omega and Oblivion were there. He would bring Calamity to Plague so that he could do something about it. But Dire still hasn't called to let us know that the plan worked. We were just waiting and I felt anxious. What if he didn't manage to trick her? What if she isn't at the villain base? I was just thinking so much about it, that I noticed I was walking back and forth.
John asked with a serious tone. I said a little anxious as I took a seat. John was cut of because his phone rang. He picked up his phone and looked at the caller ID. As he did, he smiled and looked at me. John said and then answered Dire, putting him on speakers. John asked. Dire explained. John said and hang up. John stood up and so did I, saying goodbye to everyone and then we left the HQ.
When we arrived, John rang the doorbell and Dire opened it. Dire said. John asked. Dire said. John nodded and went downstairs. As I walked inside, Dire closed the door but he looked sort of down.
I asked worried. Dire said. I asked curiously. Dire sighed deeply. Dire said balling fist and looking down. I put my hand on his shoulder, which caused him to look up. I said reassuring Dire. He nodded and smiled. I said and Dire agreed.

We went downstairs to the lab. In front of me, I saw the big lab with chemical shit that I just don't understand. Plague was there working on the potion and John was next to him talking to him. On my left, there were glass cupboards with ingredients, empty bottles and other potions in it. On my right side, I saw a simple door. I asked looking at Dire. Dire said as he walked towards that door. Dire mentioned and I nodded as I understood.
Dire grabbed a key from his pocket and unlocked the door, opening it. I looked inside and saw Calamity inside there and she shot her head up to us as the door opened. She was tied down to a chair, with a bandanna on her mouth, preventing her from talking. Her face expression quickly turned into a very cold glare, especially to Dire. Dire nodded to me and I walked inside. Dire closed the door again leaving me and Calamity in the room, but he didn't lock it. I pulled a chair, placing it in front of Calamity and I sat down. I looked down at my hands, then looking up.
I began, looking into her eyes. I said and felt my eyes get watery. I looked down and sniffed. I looked up again and stared in her eyes and so did she. But her cold glare disappeared a little. I whispered and let a tear escape. What I was actually trying is to break that spell by talking to her, but I also just wanted to let my emotions out and just tell her how much I love her. I reached my right hand out towards her face to put my hand on her cheek, but she turned her head away, whimpering a little. I didn't pull my hand back and just still tented to grab her cheek. Because she couldn't turn her head away anymore, I finally put my hand on her cheek and surprisingly, she didn't tried moving away and stayed calm.

I gently rubbed her cheek with my thumb and sighed a little. I said softly. I could swear I saw a tear escape Calamity's eye. I smiled out of joy because I think I was breaking the spell. Calamity broke our eye contact and slightly looked down. I put my other hand on her right leg and rubbed it gently. I said softly looking at her. She lowered her head a bit more and bent over, letting a muffled groan in agony out because of the bandanna. I got worried as I didn't know what was happening. I mumbled to my self. She groaned louder and it really looked like she was in a lot of pain. She tugged and struggled in the ropes. I panicked, not knowing what to do.
Just then, the door opened and I turned around seeing Plague. He walked in and put a hand on Calamity's head. Plague said pulling me up from the chair. I asked panicky. " Plague said sounding serious. I cried out. Plague said and pulled me by my arm. When we were at the door, I looked back and saw Calamity was calming down a little. I sighed in relief.
Plague closed the door and locked it. Plague said as he walked back to the potion that he was making. Dire and John were next to the potion, facing me with a worried look. I walked and now stood next to Dire and John, watching Plague what he was doing. Plague said very concentrated. He had a pipette in his hand with a small amount of liquid inside of it. He put one drop inside the potion bottle and the potion started sizzling. After 5 seconds, the potion stopped sizzling and Plague picked it up, inspecting it closely. He said turning to us. John asked. Plague simply said. Dire said. Plague nodded and walked to the door of the room where Calamity was in. When he stood in front of the door, he turned to me. Plague asked. I nodded and walked to Plague.John said and Dire nodded, following John upstairs.
When the two left the lab, Plague unlocked the door with a key and we went inside with Plague closing the door behind me. I looked at Calamity and saw she was okay... I think. At least she wasn't groaning in pain, so I was relieved by that. When Plague closed the door, her head slowly rose up and quickly noticed me, staring at me with dagger eyes. Plague said in a sort of playful tone, walking towards Calamity. He held the potion in his right hand. I also made my way towards her and now stood next to her, on her left side and Plague on her right side. I could tell by her face that she was a little nervous. Plague pulled the bandanna down from her mouth. Calamity said as soon as the bandanna was removed, while eyeing the potion. Plague said and looked at me while he was removing the cork of the bottle. I nodded and with my left hand I grabbed her cheeks and held them tightly. Plague brought the bottle closer to her, causing Calamity to whimper while trying to squirm away, but failed.

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.
