Natsu❀
"Shut up!" Jellal and a red-head said.
"Whoops, where are my manners-" I was cut off by Lucy.
"Psh, Manners? Where?" She put her hand above her eyes, as if she was scouting something.
"Anyways," I glared at Lucy, "What're your names?"
"Well, I'm Gray-" Stupid Popsicle.
"Not you Princess. I was talking about them," I pointed to the two blunettes and red-head.
"Oh," I face palmed. Leave it to Gray to be stupid and self centered.
"I'm losing brain cells because of you," Levy smacked Gray, "So let's get the introductions over with."
"R-Right." Gray murmured, rubbing his right cheek.
"I'm Levy. Your typical badass bookworm." I chuckled.
"Juvia," Juvia just sat there, looking disgusted by Gray.
"E-erza," The redhead hid behind Lucy.
Lucy picked up a fork and flung it at Gajeel's head, "Oi, Bunny Girl!"
"That's for saying I had the hots for Natsu," She then flung one at Jellal.
"For denying your date with Erza." Then Gray...
"For being a stupid asshole." I grinned. Lucy and I are going to have a good year.
"Why you-" Lucy just laughed, while Levy, Juvia, and Erza high fived each other.
It was now time for gym.
"Girls, line up for volleyball!" I watched as Erza, Levy, Juvia, and Lucy walked over, unamused.
"Boys, line up for football." Gray, Jellal, Gajeel, and I lined up.
"Why do you call Lucy 'Bunny Girl'?" I asked Gajeel.
"When Lucy first came here, she was timid, more timid than Erza," Jellal started.
"Once she started hanging around Shrimpy, Juvia, and Erza, she toughened up. We never knew why she was so timid, and the other girls don't either."
Lucy, timid?! Wow, I'd never thought she would've been timid.

"Another thing Natsu," I looked at Gray.
"Lucy doesn't tell anyone anything about her life at home, or out of school." Now that sounded weirder.
"I see," It sounded like her and I connect in some ways. I don't talk about my family either.
I glanced at the girls group, they were amazing. Lucy, Erza, Juvia, and Levy, were in a circle, hitting the ball, not letting it fall to the floor. "Wow, they're good." I noticed Gajeel grinning.
"What is it Gajeel?" He looked back at me.
"That shorty can hit the ball well," I glanced to Levy the 'badass bookworm'. Gajeel was right, despite her height, she was consistently hitting the ball.
"We have a game next Saturday, right?" Lucy, and her friends were walking over to us.
"Yeah, next Saturday," Lucy grinned.
"Who are we facing?" Erza asked.
"Flare," Levy said in distaste.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the volleyball champs." Jellal teased.
"Shut up Jellal," Erza's behavior changed, "We're talking about our tournament."
"Tournament?" I quizzically asked Lucy.
"Mm," Lucy hummed in response.
"We're in Lonestar, it's a Volleyball club." Juvia shrugged.
Lucy put her arms above her head and yawned. Her shirt rose a little above her belly button, exposing two or three scars. "Lucy?" She looked to me.
"What is it Natsu?" She held the hem of her shirt, pulling it down.
"Nothing..." The guys looked at me weirdly.
"She has a scar?" They nodded.
"Explain," They shook their heads, and Gray came up and whispered.
"When she isn't around." I nodded.
We slid in a peek, seeing none of the girls there. We then realized, the bell rang a few minutes ago. Jellal and Gray started running, while Gajeel and I walked.

"Psh, Idiots." Gajeel and I said at the same time.
By the time Gajeel and I made it, our teacher was pissed.
"Dragneel, Redfox." We shrugged.
"We're tired. We just came from gym." The teacher nodded, and walked to his computer, probably putting in 'tardies'.
"It's Natsu!" One of the girls yelled.
"We love you!~" The girls hummed in delight.
Lucy was in the back, talking to Juvia. When they noticed Gray and I sitting behind them, they rolled their eyes. "You never want to be late to Mr. Evans class,"
"Why's that?" I questioned her.
"Because...when he gets pissed, his wife; Ms. Albarn comes in," Lucy shook her head.
"Shouldn't it be Mrs. Evans?" Lucy nodded.
"They just got married this year, so I still call her Ms. Albarn."
"And?" Lucy sighed, leaning back in her chair.
"When Ms. Albarn comes in, she does her famous 'Maka chop' and it hurts." I was still confused.
"Ms. Albarn is another English Teacher, other than Mr. Evans, and well she hits you with a book." Lucy explained, turning back to look at Mr. Evans.
"Ouch!" I muttered under my breath.

Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
