《Hidden Fox》Chapter Four

Fourteen hours later, we were driving up a long dirt driveway that ends at a mansion. "Is this our new house?"
My dad shook his head, "No, we are meeting Alpha River and Luna Emerald before going to our house."
"Okay." I simply said; but inside, I couldn't help feeling excited. I was about to meet Emerald and River Williams! We pulled to a stop and filed out. I noticed we were the only car from our pack that was here.
As if Dad read my mind, he said, "I sent everybody to the new house so we can meet our relatives without bombarding them with an entire pack." I nodded in response. That made sense.
The front door to the mansion opened and two little kids burst out, one sprinting straight at us, the other following a little ways behind. I felt May grab my legs from behind me, trying to hide.
I noticed a lady probably a little over twenty leaning against the door frame, holding a toddler in her arms as she watched the wild kids with amusement.
The red haired boy skidded to a stop right in front of us. "Hi!"
My mom laughed, "well, hello." The blonde little girl stopped and stood slightly behind him, as if she was trying to be brave but wanted the protection of the boy. The boy looked about six and the girl looked about three. I noticed May peek out from behind me and give a small wave.
The lady from the door made her way over to us. "Hi, I'm Emerald!" My mouth opened with a pop. I couldn't help it; it was like meeting someone famous you've looked up to your whole life! She chuckled at me, "stop it, I'm not a celebrity!" She noticed May behind me and smiled at her shyness. "Sorry if my kids scared your little girl." Her green eyes met mine and I realized what she thought.
My family had too, as they all laughed while I fought hard against the blush. "I'm not her mom; May's my sister."
Emerald flushed white, "oh goodness, I'm so sorry!"

I smiled and waved it off, "it's okay. What are your kids' names?"
Before Emerald could answer, the redhead jumped in and introduced everyone. "I'm Jade and this is my twin sister, Amethyst. We're six; and that's Opal, my baby sister!" He pointed each one out. Amethyst was the girl behind him and Opal was the toddler Emerald was holding.
"Twin?" They did not look like twins. They had to be at least two years apart!
Emerald nodded with a kind — but a little bit defensive — smile. "Amy was born a runt."
"Oh!" An Alpha's daughter being born a run was rare. It's a miracle the child wasn't born with some sort of deformity solely for that reason. I wondered about her development levels compared to Jade, but I decided asking might be considered rude.
"So what are all your names? I mean I know your parents' names are June and Jaydon but what about you and your siblings?"
"I'm April," I answered.
"I'm August."
"I'm May." May barely got her's out, it sounded more like a mouse said it.
I pushed her out from behind me and whispered, "go meet Amethyst. She's nearly the same age as you." She shook her head and held onto my arm tightly. I sighed. "Stop being shy, May."
"I like your guys' theme with the names!" Emerald exclaimed, ignoring us as I tried to push May away from me.
My dad laughed, "all her idea!" He pointed to my mom.
Emerald giggled and turned to me, "So are you adopted?" She widened her eyes, "Sorry that was rude; I didn't even think before I said that! You don't have to answer me, we can go inside and meet River —"
I widened my eyes in shock. Where did she come up with that? I cut off her rambling and answered her question anyway. "No, I'm not. Why?"
"Sorry, I just couldn't smell your wolf and I blurted it out from surprise, that's all." Oh, right. That.
"Well -" I started but my mother cut me off.

"Why don't we go inside?" Mom said hurriedly, glancing around.
"Okay," Emerald nodded and rounded Jade and Amy up. She didn't seem to notice how panicked Mom had gotten so suddenly. We followed her and the kids into the mansion. It was definitely bigger than our old house, that's for sure.
"Dinner's ready, Em!" A deep voice called from somewhere in the house.
"Perfect!" Emerald exclaimed, leading us to the right of the front entrance, past a living room and into a beautiful kitchen. A man with dirty blonde hair and light eyes was setting the table. "This is River, my mate." Emerald introduced him.
River smiled and waved a little before picking up Amethyst, who had run up to him with her arms out. "I'm guessing these are your cousins?"
"Distant, but yes." My mom answered for us. River smiled and nodded before carrying Amethyst somewhere, Jade followed.
I sat down at the table and May climbed onto a chair that was next to mine. Emerald told us to help ourselves to the food so I piled some of the spaghetti on my plate and then helped May get some.
Amethyst, River, and Jade came back and sat down. "This is delicious!" I told Emerald.
"Thank you; glad you like it!" I almost laughed, who doesn't like spaghetti? "So what couldn't you tell me outside?" She switched the subject fast; I could tell she was just curious.
I looked at Mom and Dad. They nodded, telling me I could tell them. "I'm a fox shifter."
River froze and Emerald nearly spit out her food. "No way! I thought they were a legend! How did this happen?"
I shrugged. "My parents are werewolves. We don't know where this gene came from."
"Interesting," Emerald said. "Have you shifted yet?" She asked August.
My brother shook his head. "No, but I think I will be a wolf." My parents nodded, agreeing with him.
"I wanna be a fox like April!" May announced and everyone's eyes turned to her as she bounced in her seat.
"No you don't." I said.
She folded her arms, pouting. "Yes I do! They are so much cooler than wolves!"
She's right, you know. Scarlet told me.
Shut up, you cocky fox.
I rolled my eyes and dropped it. Everyone else went back to eating, this time in silence. I didn't think anyone really knew what to say to May about being a fox.
When Amethyst had finished eating, she slid off her chair and ran around the table to May. "Wanna go play?" Her voice was so quiet and cute I nearly was straining my ears to hear her.
May looked at me, "Of course you can." I told her as if I actually were her parent. She climbed off her seat and ran after her new friend.
After an hour of visiting with them, Mom decided it was time to go. We said goodbye and May got really sad until I told her we could come back sometime to play.
We drove for about a half an hour before pulling up to a mansion similar to the Crescent Moon Pack's.
"Here's the new pack house, guys!" Dad announced.
I looked out the window and noticed it was about the same size as our other house. Mom led me up to the top floor and showed me where my room would be.
It was already decorated, thanks to the pack. My bed's headboard was against the wall so that it was sticking out into the room. There was a big bay window straight ahead from the door that had a teal colored cushion, the same color as my paisley bed spread. Across from the bed were two doors. I opened one to find that it was a walk-in closet. The other one led to a bathroom that was conjoined with another room next to mine; which I found out was May's. My desk was placed against the wall between the two doors. The walls were painted a neutral grey.
My mom left the room and I helped May get ready for bed. After tucking her in, leaned in and whispered. "We're gonna love the new house, May."

Miracle Angeliva
Spirits, or what people usually referred to as ghosts, are something that has always been with us since ancient times. Some people are gifted to see them. However, most of us can’t see them without training. And without seeing them, we won’t believe. People only believe what they see, after all. However, I assure you, spirits are real. Spirits are always there. Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they are not real. Just like people of ancient ages who can’t see bacteria or those who can’t see stars further than eyes can see, there are limits to our technology. Similarly, even though the current technology can’t prove the existence of supernatural beings, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. In the future, if we can develop technology so everyone can see them just like how a microscope helps us seeing micro beings, I believe everyone will believe it too. That being said, I still can’t prove their existence yet. -Raleigh Von Vlad Update daily (if possible, if not, guaranteed chapters are on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday) Thanks to gej302 for the fantastic cover!
