《Gentle Turbulence - Uchiha Madara Love Story》Chapter 5 - I have powers?!

Tobirama pov:
“Aniki, please….think this through again.” I said as he put on his shoes. “No Tobirama, we cant treat her like a prisoner. She sounded honest when she said she didn’t know she could hear people’s thoughts. Either way, its not gentlemanly to treat a girl like this.” He said and I sighed. Leave it to my overly soft brother to support a stranger…..he was so gullible sometimes.
“Tobirama, you said that she didn’t do anything suspicious when you went out with her on her morning run. In fact, you said that her stamina was quite low. Perhaps she really is from another dimension so we should treat her well.” Aniki argued and I shook my head at his kindness. “Now go and bring her to the meeting room. At least all the high up shinobi should know of her coming here. Then we can decide properly how to figure out her powers.” He said and walked out of the room before I could say anything.
Sometimes, he was just too kind. How could he just trust people like that? I know he wanted peace and for that to happen, we had to form alliances and trust people, but that was only after we knew them and found them clean. And now he just wanted to introduce her to everyone and give her more chances to gain intel on the Senju clan secrets if she was a spy.
I groaned but I had to listen to him. After all, he was my aniki and the leader of the Senju clan now. Father trusted that he had the capability to handle the clan and bring it up to its fullest potential. I trusted him too….but sometimes he was just too innocent and taking unnecessary chances especially with strangers like that girl.
I walked out of the room and headed towards Mio’s room. But as I got closer, the guards near her door stiffened and suddenly pulled out kunais and looked at the door. I narrowed my eyes dangerously and sprinted to the door. But when I reached, I froze as well.
From the inside, we could all hear strange music. The kind we had never heard before.
I couldn’t tell what instruments they were using but after a few seconds, we heard voices as well. I clenched my fists and my jaw. I knew it! She could not be trusted! There were people who had come to find her! They were probably from her clan and since we didn’t know of their abilities, we had to be very careful. And judging from the reactions of the people who were left to guard her, they didn’t even realize someone had entered.
I pulled out a katana and slowly opened the door and looked in. The music continued to play and I saw her sitting in front of the mirror and combing her hair. She was singing the song as well and I couldn’t understand the words that left her mouth. the only word I understood was ‘replay’. But I didn’t see anyone inside the room besides her but the music seemed to be coming from where she was seated.
But that’s not what bothered me. As she ran the comb through her hair that she had pulled onto one side, she looked….beautiful. My chest suddenly felt tight and I clenched my jaw, grinding my teeth together in discomfort.
The kimono that she was wearing was dark blue and had silver flowers painted on it and her pants were dark blue as well. She was very fair and the clothes contrasted with her skin so well. She was slim and her face features were perfect. And for a moment, I hesitated as I heard her silky voice as she sang.

Wait, what? Did I just say her ‘silky’ voice?
I held onto my katana tighter and took a breath to get rid of my ridiculous thoughts. I stepped into the room and walked towards her. She didn’t seem to realize that I had entered the room and she moved her hair to her other side and continued to comb it. She was still singing and when I got closer to her, I noticed a black object on the table from which the music seemed to emanate from.
“What is that?” I asked and she jumped. “Omo kapchagi! [oh my gosh!]” She nearly fell off the chair she was sitting on turned to look at me panting as she placed a hand over her chest. She sighed and closed her eyes. “Oh jeez, you really startled me.” She said and shook her head as she stood up. She stood up setting her hair in place and looked at me. “What’s what?” She asked and I narrowed my eyes.
“That object and…..the music coming from it.” I pointed to the black object on the table and she looked at it as well. “Oh! Its my cell phone. It doesn’t seem to have any signal but the battery gets charged by solar energy and I can still listen to music.” She said and I frowned. “Cell phone?” “You don’t know what a cell phone is?” She asked and I shook my head.
“It’s a communication device that we use in my world.” I got a sudden bad feeling and I gripped the katana tighter as she reached for it but she touched it and I stiffened as a bright light appeared in one side. She fumbled with it and now I was sure that the music was coming from it. But there were no people….how was the music playing just like that? Its not possible.
“It lets me record songs and I can listen to them whenever I want to. I can even record videos….so I can watch stuff.” She said seeming to understand my questioning gaze. “But you said it’s a communication device.” I said. If she was using it to communicate with her clan….it would be bad for us. She rolled her eyes and sighed. “Yeah it is, but without any sort of signal, I cant really contact anyone. Besides, music is pretty much my life. I cant live without it.” She smiled and I felt uncomfortable at her friendly behavior.
“And don’t worry, I’m not lying and this thing wont hurt you.” She smiled more and I hesitantly sheathed my sword as she eyed it cautiously. Well, it didn’t look harmful and the music was rather strange. But I took a deep breath as I felt uncomfortable at the thoughts I had earlier…..especially the one where I thought that she looked beautiful. I had to get her to the meeting room and now wasn’t the time to think of unnecessary things.
“Very well. Aniki has arranged a meeting that you have to attend.” I told her and she stopped the music and watched me curiously. “Me? To a meeting?” I nodded and she shrugged. “Okay.” She agreed surprisingly without a fight and I motioned with my head for her to follow me.
Mi Ho pov:
I was supposed to attend a meeting? Wasn’t I a prisoner here? Or something like that…..so why was I being called to attend a meeting?
This was weird….
Well, I couldn’t do anything so I followed Tobirama san out of my room and through the building. And just like yesterday, I was led to the other side of the building. Thankfully unlike last time, I wasn’t wearing my stilettos. I had found a pair of flat ‘ninja shoes’ in the cupboard, so I was wearing them now. And I had to say, they were rather comfortable and I felt like my feet had a really good grip on the ground as we walked.

Anyway, when Tobirama san had suddenly popped up as I was combing my hair, he totally surprised me. I was so used to listening to music freely that the fact that I was in a different dimension where cell phones probably didn’t exist didn’t even flash through my head. And when he had asked me what my cell phone was, I thought he was going to totally blow his head and rat me out for it.
He took it surprisingly well though…..but I’m sure he was going to pick on me for it later. Either alone or when we were with Hashirama san and his father and then everything would fall into chaos. Oh man…..I really hope it wasn’t going to go that far….
Well, we headed to the room where about 15 peopke were gathered besides Hashirama san, Tobirama san and their parents. I smiled and bowed my head a little when I saw Raito there too he smiled back at me. After we had all settled down, Butsuma san nodded to Hashirama san to begin the meeting.
I was sitting with them facing the 15-odd people who were gathered in the room. “I called all of you here to give you all important information and related instructions as well.” Hashirama san started. His voice was stern and had a ring of authority to it. He was watching everyone strictly and I could see that everyone in room respected him a great deal as well. They were listening with full concentration and shouted out respected agreement to listen to his instructions.
“As you can see, this girl sitting next to me is someone you haven’t seen before.” He held his hand out to me and I immediately felt all their eyes on me. I sweatropped at the intense stares I was getting and I looked at the ground. “Kuzuma found her in the forest yesterday and she saved Hatsuko’s life by giving him temporary first aid when he most needed it. The healers told me that if she hadn’t stopped the bleeding that time, he would not have survived.”
I widened my eyes and looked at Hashirama san. So Hatsuko was okay…that was good to hear. I looked at Raito and he gave me a smile and a nod. I smiled back relieved and he mouthed me a ‘thank you’.
“But she also seems to have the ability to read people’s minds.” Here we go again….now more people were going to get suspicious and probably bombard me with a million questions. I rolled my eyes but I stiffened when a sharp pain went through my head. It was gone in a flash and I frowned as I looked at the ground.
Strange girl…..what powers does she have…..
Which clan is she from….
Impossible!
She’s pretty.
Who will guard her…..
No way! She’s crazy!
My head throbbed again and I realized that I was hearing the thoughts of all the people in this room. There were so many thoughts coming at the same time and I couldn’t hear anything clearly. My head spun and I clutched it with both hands. It was so noisy and it was getting impossible to stay here. My head was breaking apart and I felt faint.
I didn’t care what would happen now but I had to get out of here. I stood up swiftly still holding my throbbing head and ran out of the room. I could vaguely make out that someone was calling my name as I ran out and when I was a good distance away from the room, I stopped. I leaned sideways against the wall and shut my eyes. I heard a few footsteps behind me and they stopped next to me.
I opened my eyes still panting and took in a sharp breath when I was pushed against the wall and Butsuma san was holding a sword barely two millimeters from my neck. I was sweating from the headache, but now that I was out of the room and I couldn’t hear people’s thoughts, the head ache wasn’t there anymore. I sighed and closed my eyes and relaxed.
I couldn’t stand and I slid down against the wall. Butsuma san kneeled as well without moving the sword from my neck and he pressed my shoulder hard into the wall. “Ow! Ow! Ow! That hurts!” I yelped and he glared. And for the first time in coming here, I couldn’t find my attitude to return the glare. I was aware that these guys were much stronger than me but I wasn’t someone who would back down easily.
I always thought that I don’t have to be afraid of anything as long as I hadn’t done something wrong and I had learnt how to protect myself as well because of my parents but in this situation, I knew that the odds were definitely against me.
“Why did you suddenly run away?! Did you think you can escape?” Butsuma san hissed and I cringed. “Tou sama, please…” Hashirama san said in an attempt to cool down the situation but it didn’t seem to help. “Don’t stop me Hashirama! The Uzumaki clan is coming here in two days! If something happens with this girl, we’ll end up with another enemy!” He yelled and I sighed.
“Relax you guys, I wasn’t trying to escape.” I said and Butsuma san glared harder. “You want us to believe that?” Tobirama san challenged and I closed my eyes as I let my head fall back against the wall. “You guys were right.” I said and looked at all of them. “Right about what?” Hasirama san asked and I bit the inside of my cheek. “It looks like I can hear people’s thoughts. When you told the people in the room about my ‘ability’, I started to hear everyone’s thoughts.”
“It was too loud and my head felt like it was going to split. I had to get out of there before I actually fainted.” I muttered and Butsuma san loosened his hold on my shoulder. “Is that true?” He asked and I sighed again. “Looks like it….gosh, this is crazy. I’ve never been able to hear people’s thoughts before.” I said and Butsuma san sighed and let go of me. he stood up and Hashirama san held out his hand slightly flustered.
“Are you alright? Can you stand?” I nodded and took his hand and he helped me stand up. He let go of my arm and we all walked back to the room. But I stopped outside and hesitated. “Why are you stopping?” Tobirama san asked and I bit my lip. “What if I hear their thoughts again? I don’t seem to be able to control it…..and my head really hurt when that happened.” I said and he sighed.
He did two hand signs with one hand and touched my forehead with the first two fingers of his hand. I was surprised by the sudden action and I took a step back and touched my forehead. “What are you doing?” I asked and he turned around. “I sealed off your chakra. You shouldn’t be able to hear people’s thoughts even unconsciously now.” He said and I pouted.
I didn’t really understand what he said but I shrugged and we all walked inside the room again. People watched me cautiously since I had suddenly run out of the room but Hashirama san explained what happened to them and for the rest of the time I sat silently through the meeting.
During the meeting, it was agreed that information about me and my ability would be kept completely confidential. They didn’t want any other clans knowing about it, especially the Uchihas. Well, I was really curious about these Uchihas…..they were mentioned so often and I really wanted to know what abilities they had and why these guys were so cautious of them.
Everyone was dismissed and I too got up along with everyone. But I froze as I felt something pulsing inside me. I looked up and noticed one person out of all of the people here and he had a sorta dark and negative aura around him. A jolt of pain went through my head as a strange image flashed in front of me of the same person and I gasped. I gasped and held my head as I collapsed but I was caught by Tobirama san.
I held onto his arm tightly and panted while holding my head. “What happened? Did you hear thoughts again?” He asked silently, trying not to get the attention of the other people in the room. The pain died down and I breathed heavily. “N-no….t-that person…..over there.” I pointed to him as inconspicuously as possible. “Where is he going?” I asked airily.
“They are all going to fight in the war against the Uchihas.” Tobirama san said and I felt even more faint than before. Tobirama san sat me down and I swallowed thickly. “He shouldn’t go…..I-I just got a really bad vibe…..something about his left side. He shouldn’t go.” I said and Tobirama san frowned. “You must be stressed from hearing people’s thoughts. I’ll take you to your room.” He said simply and led me out.
I looked back at that man, still getting the bad feeling, but I pushed it away and walked back to my room.
>>Timeskip
I sat near the window, resting my chin on my arms on the sill. I had a peaceful smile and it was almost dinner time. The whole day had been rather uneventful but it seems by evening wasn’t going to remain peaceful.
I heard fast paced footsteps and my door was slammed open. I jumped and turned around to see Tobirama san panting. He was watching me with an expression that was a mix of a glare and a look of surprise. I slowly stood up and smoothened out my kimono. “Is something wrong?” I asked and he walked to me and grabbed my shoulders. “How did you know?! What ability do you have?!” he yelled and I flinched.
“What are you talking about?” I asked and he squeezed my shoulders. I held in a hiss of pain and he yelled again. “The man you pointed to in the morning! He was severely injured on his left torso and now is fighting between life and death!” I frowned and narrowed my eyes. “What?” I asked barely above a whisper. “How did you know that?!”
“I didn’t! I told you! I just got a really bad vibe and a feeling that something bad was going to happen to him! That’s why I told you not to send him to the war!” I yelled back and he let go of me and clenched his fists at his sides. “Impossible…..you can hear thoughts and….predict danger.” He said and I blinked. “No frikkin’ way…..” I mumbled and he grabbed my upper arm.
“Ow! Be gentler will you?! Why is everyone here so rough?” I complained but he didn’t loosen his hold and he began to drag me somewhere. “Aniki has to be informed about this. The minute we understood you can predict danger, you became a very important asset to the Senjus. Protecting you from all the other clans is now our first priority.” He said and I widened my eyes.
So now it just wasn’t the ‘hear people’s thoughts’ ability, but now I could predict danger as well?! Stupid powers! Because of them, I was getting into these crazy situations over and over again! And now that a new ability had popped up, what was going to happen to me?!

A Fractal Divide
Lesivar is a city in ascendancy. With recent innovations in magical crafting, the common people are experiencing a boom in comfort and wealth. The nobility, long used to being the stewards of knowledge and power, struggle to adapt to the new world in which they find themselves. A precarious balance has been maintained throughout, but forces stir beneath the surface threatening to send the city spiraling into chaos. This is my first attempt at writing anything longer than a short story, and I welcome any feedback or corrections. I'm posting this as I write, with each chapter going live upon completion. My current pace is about a chapter a day, which I expect to take my through the end of November. From there, I'm shooting for a chapter every two-three days until the book is completed, along with an editing pass of what is already up. I'm planning on three POV characters with unique insight into the story as it unfolds. Each chapter will contain only one POV. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
