"Mom, please don't cry."
Jungkook looked at his father with pleading eyes but Junghyun just shrugged his shoulders. There was no point in telling Sonmi to stop crying. She has suffered a lot for the past few days. They all have.
Best to let her cry it all out.
"M-my b-baby." Sonmi's voice was barely audible through her sobs.
"Mom." Jungkook's voice sounded emotional too. "I'm fine now."
Sonmi raised her head from her son's chest. "Y-yes. Yes, you are."
"Come on." Junghyun placed his hand on Sonmi's shoulder. "Let him breath now."
Sonmi gave a nod and stepped back a bit, so that the others can see and talk with Jungkook too.
Everyone, whom Jungkook consider dear to his heart, were there. His parents, friends and hyungs. Even his other friends from college were said to be outside the room, waiting for their chance to see the younger.
"When did you all come, hyung?" Jungkook asked as he looked at Namjoon, Jin and Jimin.
"Me and Jin came two days ago." Namjoon answered as he looked endearingly at the younger.
"I came with Taehyung." Jimin's answered the question with a soft smile too. "Couldn't let him come alone."
Jungkook glanced back at Taehyung, who was sitting on the bed next to him before turning to look at Jimin again. "Thank you for looking after him, Jiminie hyung."
Jimin nod his head in understanding while Taehyung gave a soft kiss to Jungkook's forehead. They all had a terrible time for the last few days, worrying about Jungkook.
After few more minutes of talking, all of them left the room, leaving only Taehyung. Then came in Jungkook's friends from college.
The younger was worried as he knew his friends and Taehyung didn't exactly get along. But to his surprise, Taehyung greeted them warmly. He fist bumped few of them and Suho even went for a half hug.
It seemed that they had gotten little closer in the last two days, over their mutual worry regarding Jungkook. Nothing brings people closer than a common enemy.
It took the collective effort of Junghyun and the group's own pack leaders to stop the guys from going after Alpha Seong. They honestly didn't care about any bigger pictures. Their friend was hurt, almost killed. They just wanted to punish the one responsible.

After the group left, Junghyun and Taemin came, along with some other people who introduced themselves as the council members.
Jungkook explained everything that happened from the start. How he followed the two suspicious guys, got captured by Rose, what alpha Seong said and did. How he watched as his body worked on auto pilot, seeing and hearing everything but unable to control any.
How he attempted to kill his father and failed, how he used his mother to get out of the basement and how he hurt her.
Something that Taehyung and others didn't knew about was how Jungkook got the gun. They had even forgotten the name of the Alpha who tried to force Jungkook few years back.
As it had happened, Jinwoo had left Alpha Wang's pack after his punishment, which he thought was unfair. He had wondered as a rogue for sometime before Alpha Seong took him in. Jungkook had borrowed a phone from a random girl and contacted Rose, and she had made arrangements for the gun to be delivered.
The council members took note of everything. They had already called a trial on everyone involved, Jungkook’s statement was sort of the last piece of information they needed.
Taehyung just listened to everything, standing little far from the bed. He couldn't believe how fortunate they had been. Things could have gone disastrously wrong, very easily.
At one point, things did seem like there was no way out.
Flashback
Taehyung was sitting on the sidewalk, knees folded and his head resting on them. They couldn't find Jungkook, it was like he vanished in to thin air.
""
Taehyung groaned in his heart. "But where?! And even if we find him, what are we gonna do? We can't keep him locked up forever."
""
Taehyung sighed apologetically. "You're right, sorry."
There was a silence for few seconds before Taehyung voiced something that he had been thinking for a while now.
"V?"
""
"Should we go to Rose? It's us they want. Maybe if.. if we give ourselves, they'll release Jungkook from the spell."
V sighed in their shared mind. ""
"I just- I'm scared, V."
""
"This does look like the end, doesn't it? Maybe we were never meant to be. I just hope we get to be together in our next life."

""
"Yeah, I won't be able to live without him. If death if the only way out, then I'll follow him too."
V was silent for few seconds before he let out a gasp. ""
Taehyung scoffed at that. He is of the same opinion but no need to be so excited for it. "Yeah, that's what I said too-"
""
If it was anyone else, Taehyung would have rolled his eyes and asked 'are you fucking serious' right about now. But he knew his wolf. He knew V wouldn't say or do anything that will even remotely harm Jungkook.
"What are you-"
""
"You want to kill them?!"
""
"Huh?"
""
"Kill Jungkook?"
What V was saying made sense but Taehyung's heart ached at the thought of harming Jungkook. He didn't think he could do it.
V knew that very well. After all, they do share the same mind.
""
Taehyung thought for few seconds and he suddenly got an idea. He picked up his phone and dialled Namjoon's number.
"Tae, how's Jungkook-"
"Hyung, can you tell me what sort of a wound would be fatal to a human but not to a werewolf?"
There was few seconds of silence as Namjoon considered this.
"Well, werewolf has quite the healing ability right? Theoretically, any big wound will be fatal to a human, but not to you guys."
"Any big wound?"
"Yeah, theoretically. Tae what's this about-"
Taehyung didn't hear the rest as V suddenly let out a surprised noise.
"Hyung, I'll talk to you later."
Taehyung cut the line. "What is it?"
""
"What- No! You'll take half of his neck off-"
"-"
Taehyung felt the energy and excitement of his wolf spread through their shared mind.
It might just work. They will make it work somehow.
End of flashback
Jungkook was deemed okay to go home in the next day. Everyone was fussing over him all the time, despite him saying he was okay.
Taehyung decided to stay. Namjoon had anyway recruited a new assistant so it was not an issue after all. Taehyung had planned to move back next week but now, he just didn't want to leave Jungkook. This is where he belonged. This is home.
Jinwoo and Bogum were sentenced to be pack-less. They now carried a mark that will not allow any pack to take them in. As an Omega, being a rogue is a very harsh punishment but the council deemed it was fit for his crime. His ill feelings towards another Omega was what started all this.
However, his crime can still be considered as a weakness of the heart. We all are fools when it comes to the matters of heart.
But, the same could not be said for Alpha Seong. His crime was far too greater to be considered leniently. After much discussions, the council decided to strip him off of his alpha powers. His wolf will be still present inside his mind, but he'll just be like an average human. The procedure is hard and horrendous. It has not been done in over a century and was the biggest punishment that can be given to a werewolf.
Seong's family was removed as the head of the clan. The elder son, who was to be the next head alpha and the second son, Rose's husband could not stand the shame of what their father had done so they left the country.
Rose was tried by the witch's high court and it was decided that she should be stripped of her powers too. The loss of her lineage was too hard for her to handle and she lost her mind. She went missing after about few weeks. Some say she ran off and some say she killed herself. Either way, they didn't hear from her again.
Jungkook refused any offers to help with his scar that spread through the entire side of his neck. When he helped Taehyung with his rut which came about two weeks after all the fiasco, the elder marked him again. A small two half crescent mark, not quiet connected, inside a bigger mark.
He was proud to have carry the marks of his mate. It showed and reminded everyone what he went through, and how fate dealt a terrible hand to him at birth. But it also showed everyone how he overcame all that. And found his everlasting happiness.
As long as your love is pure, even the Gods will bow down to you. How can an insignificant thing like fate dare to stand in your way?

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/
