Taehyung gently ran his fingers through Jungkook's soft hair. The younger was silently crying for long time before he fell asleep with his head on Taehyung's lap.
Taehyung knew it was to be expected. He had hurt Jungkook so badly, he knew that. It doesn't matter whether he had a valid reason for the same or not.
But now that he had decided to not run away from Jungkook, Taehyung couldn't help but feel scared. The threat of the prophecy was weighing on his heart badly.
"You look worried." Jimin's voice was able to break through the negative thoughts Taehyung was having and the latter looked at his friend through the review mirror.
"I am worried." Taehyung sighed in dismay, his fingers never stopped their gentle caress.
Jimim focused his attention back to the road. After crying his heart out, Jungkook calmed down enough to follow Taehyung to his and Jimin's car. Jimin had enough sense to say that he will get a ride back from Namjoon but with the way Jungkook was clinging on to Taehyung, it didn't seem like the latter would be able to drive.
Hence Jimin was now driving the car, while Jungkook and Taehyung sat on the back seat. As soon as the car doors closed, Jungkook started to softly cry again. Taehyung just pulled him on to his lap, and just let him cry.
"He looks and behaves quiet tough but he's a softy, isn't he?"
Taehyung couldn't help but give a fond smile at his friend's question. "If you knew him... before, you wouldn't believe it's the same person. He was the gentlest person I've ever known."
"He was like an angel." Taehyung lifted Jungkook's hand and gave a soft kiss to it. "I'm the one who broke him and forced him to be turned in to something different.
"Yeah well, I don't know about breaking. But I can see that he's much stronger now, than what you are describing."

"Hmm.. I guess he is."
Jimin looked tentative for few seconds before he spoke up again. "What exactly happened between you two?"
Taehyung closed his eyes and leaned on to the backrest of the seat. Everything seemed to be fast forwarded in his mind. When Taehyung opened his eyes again, he could see Jimin looking at him through the mirror.
So Taehyung started to tell the story, from the very beginning. He told about the prophecy, about protecting Jungkook, loving him for his whole life, how he learned that he was Jungkook's mate and finally, how he ran.
Taehyung didn't knew how Jungkook got to know about the prophecy, but he told Jimin about how Jungkook confronted him with that information. He told how he tried to make Jungkook go away, by breaking his heart.
Taehyung told everything to Jimin. He had carried this heartache alone, for so long, it felt so good to finally share it with someone.
Jimin listened without interrupting at all. When he was done, there was a silence for about a minute. And then, Jimin spoke up.
"Fuck you!"
Taehyung blinked few times, as he was confused at the angry tone of his friend. "What?"
Jimin pulled over and stopped the car immediately. He got out, slamming the door hard enough to make Jungkook stirred a bit too. But luckily, he didn't wake up.
Taehyung could see Jimin pacing back and forth infront of the car, kicking rocks aggressively too. He gently moved Jungkook's head from his lap to the car seat, and got out of the car.
"Jimin, what's-"
"You fucking moron!!" Jimin turned around to face the other and screeched. "Do you have any fucking idea about the things I told him?!"
"I don't-"
"I called him names, the worst kind that can be said to someone, because I assumed he did something- urgghhh!!!" Jimin threw his hands in to the air with a loud groan. "-because I assumed you had a valid reason for whatever the shit you were doing!"

"But no! You- you absolute idiot! You made him go through hell, almost killed yourself! What for?! For a stupid prophecy?? Oh my God!"
Taehyung watched as Jimin continued to curse and throw profanities at him, with occasionally kicking up rocks on the ground. Jimin was like a volcano that was erupting, and for the first time, Taehyung was scared to go near him.
It took several more minutes for Jimin to calm down. Then he glared at Taehyung, who got genuinely scared at those lasers coming out of his friend's eyes.
"You should consider yourself lucky, Taehyung." Jimin's tone had all the warmth of an icicle. "Feel lucky because that guy didn't break. It was fortunate that he decided to be strong and stand for himself. What would you have done if things went the other way?"
Taehyung gulped at the magnitude of the emotions swirling in Jimin's eyes.
"W-what if, God forbid, he couldn't stand the pain and decided to give up? What would you have done, if things became too late to reverse?!"
"JIMIN!!"
"DO NOT SHOUT AT ME!" Jimin's voice was even louder than Taehyung.
Both of them were staring at each other, when the sound of the car door opening broke their trance.
"H-hyungie?"
Taehyung immediately turned and walked to the door. "I'm sorry, baby. Did we wake you up?"
Jungkook blinked few times in confusion. "What's going on?"
"Nothing." Taehyung assured with a soft smile. "We were... just talking."
Jungkook looked at Jimin but the latter averted his eyes. It might have looked like Jimin was angry but in reality, he was too ashamed to face the younger.
The insults that he threw at Jungkook kept echoing in Jimin's mind. Even in his heart, Jimin knew he shouldn't have done it. He just put his faith in Taehyung, and assumed that his friend was in the right while Jungkook was in the wrong. Jimin didn't blame anyone except himself.
The car ride back was silent. Jimin was drowning in guilt and shame, Taehyung was battling very ugly demons in his head, imagining all the horrible things that could have happened. And Jungkook was confused as he could feel the tension between two friends.
They stopped at a hotel for the night, Taehyung wasn't sure whether he should be booking one room or two rooms for him and Jungkook. In the end, he booked one room with two beds, and a single room for Jimin.
Taehyung was the last to freshened up so when he walked out of the bathroom, Jungkook was already in one of the beds. Taehyung tentatively took the other one, before switching off the lights.
The small night lamp only gave the tiniest orange-ish glow but it was enough to see the outline of things in the room. From the beginning, Taehyung's eyes were focused on Jungkook's sleeping silhouette. So he didn't miss it when the younger got up from the bed.
Taehyung felt his heartbeat accelerate, with every step Jungkook took and fortunately, there were not many between the two beds.
Taehyung moved a bit to the side when Jungkook laid down next to him, and let his hand loosely drap over the younger's waist. Jungkook had his back turned to Taehyung and after few seconds of contemplating, Taehyung scooted over the remaining space to hug Jungkook.
He could feel the younger sinking in to his embrace and so he pressed on even more, until there was no space between them.
After so many torturous nights, both Jungkook and Taehyung finally slept peacefully..

Making a difference
Harry Potter FanFiction: Hannah Longbottom liked to watch the people who entered the Wizarding World via the small, walled courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron for a reason: During her not so long life, she had learned about three different boys who had entered the Wizarding World alone, leaving behind a life so horrible she could barely imagine. One of them, who became a friend of hers, had gone through great hardships to become a hero, one of the greatest wizards the Wizarding World had ever seen. One of them, who had been her teacher, had become cold and bitter, and no one had ever recognized what amazing talents he could have offered, until it had been too late. One of them, the monster she had helped to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts, had become the most dreaded, most dangerous, and most deadly man Great Britain had ever seen, and yet it could have all been different, if someone had just tried to make that difference early enough in that life, if he had not boarded the train to Hogwarts all alone. Already posted at Devianart and AO3, I've included a link to RoyalRoad on my profiles there.
