"Uncle?" Taemin turned around at that timid voice to see Jungkook looking at him with worried eyes. "D-do you know where hyungie is?"
"Tae?" Taemin looked at the group of people in the hall. "He was here a minute ago."
"I-I can't find him." Jungkook's voice trembled at the very end, making Taemin put a reassuring hand over the younger's shoulder.
"I'm sure he's somewhere around here, Kookie. Did you try his phone?"
"Y-yeah." Jungkook shakily raised the phone in his hand, Taehyung's number already being dialled on repeat. "He's not picking up."
"Is something wrong?"
Both Jungkook and Taemin turned at that sound to see Junghyun and Sonmi coming their way. Jungkook didn't knew why but he felt his eyes getting filled with tears at the sight of his parents. His father will fix whatever this is, he can fix anything.
"D-dad." Jungkook's feeble call made Junghyun's heart fill with worry too. "I can't find Hyungie."
"Tae? I think I saw him talking to the Kangs." Junghyun replied as he looked at direction, his eyes squinting with confusion when he saw the said couple standing alone.
Jungkook half walked - half ran towards the couple and the Jeons and Taemin followed him. The elders reached just in time to hear Mr Kang's reply. Yes, Taehyung had indeed been talking to them but he had suddenly excused himself, saying he had something urgent to do.
Jungkook looked around at his parents with glassy eyes, making Sonmi quickly put her hand around her son. Taemin was already calling Taehyung's number but the latter didn't pick that call either.
Taemin looked at the worried boy and gave a small, unconvincing smile. "I'm sure he's just busy with something, Kookie. He'll be back in few minutes, okay?"
Jungkook gave a nod and looked around at the crowd again. He noticed Taehyung's friends sitting in one corner so he quickly made his way towards them, hoping that they would know something about Taehyung's whereabouts.

When Jungkook was halfway, his phone rang. He stopped when saw the caller ID. "Hyungie, where-"
"Come to the training grounds." Taehyung voice lacked his normal warmth, making Jungkook feel as if a bucket of icy water poured all over his heart. "And don't tell anyone."
The line was disconnected immediately, not giving any chance for Jungkook to respond. His feet moved on his own accord, taking him towards the training grounds as fast as they possibly can.
Jungkook managed to reach the training ground within minutes and his heart was finally at ease when he saw Taehyung standing at the end of it. He didn't look hurt, but his expression was unreadable.
"Hyungie, what happened?" Jungkook asked in a soft voice when he reached where Taehyung was standing. "I was looking everywhere for you. Why are you here-"
"I found my mate." Taehyung's voice held no emotion. Neither did his eyes.
"Y-you did?" Jungkook tried to keep the tremor out of his voice but was completely unsuccessful.
"Yeah."
They stood there in silence for about a minute. Jungkook was waiting for Taehyung to elaborate further but the elder didn't say anything after that. When the silence got uncomfortable, Jungkook decided to ask the dreaded question.
"A-and?"
The younger could swore he saw Taehyung's eyes softening for a second but then the moment was gone. And the words that he uttered, turned Jungkook's world up side down.
"And I've accepted him."
For a second, Jungkook thought that his ears have deceived him. He must be hearing things. Or that maybe Taehyung was playing a joke on him. Cause it had to be something else. Anything.
But the cold look in the elder's eyes and the way Taehyung didn't change his statement even after seeing the shaky two steps that Jungkook took backwards, made the younger realise that it was not the case.
"What are you saying-"
"I found my mate, Koo. And I've decided to accept him. He's not comfortable staying here, knowing about us. So I'm moving away with him. Tonight. "

So many thoughts ran through Jungkook's head, each like a hammer that was beating his skull from inside. There were many questions to ask but what Taehyung said last seemed like the most important one.
"Tonight?"
"Yeah, right now actually."
They stood still for few seconds before Jungkook broke out from his trance like state and walked towards Taehyung. He gently held Taehyung's shirt sleeve with shaky hands and looked at the elder.
"Hyungie.." The sound came muffled a but due to the lump in Jungkook's throat. "What are you doing? Please don't make jokes like this."
Taehyung looked back at the pleading boy with a cold gaze as he removed Jungkook's hold. He took a step back, making the younger's hands drop to the side.
"I'm sorry, Koo. I really am. I wish things-"
"You said you don't want your mate!" Jungkook was slightly yelling now. "You promised!!"
"I know. But that was before I knew who my mate is."
"Who is it?"
For the first time, Taehyung's gaze lost it's coldness and he averted Jungkook's eyes. "I know this is hard, Koo. But please understand. I have to go."
"No no NO!!" Jungkook screamed as the tears that was gathering in his eyes, finally spilled over to his cheeks. "H-hyungie, you c-can't leave me!"
"Listen, Koo, I-"
"Please don't leave me, hyungie.." Jungkook was full on sobbing now. "I- c-can't- I- I c-can't-"
Taehyung walked forward this time and grabbed the younger from his arms. "Get a grip on yourself, Koo. Please!!"
"No, you don't understand!! I can't breathe without you!"
"Koo, please-"
"It's okay, hyungie. It's okay. You can be with your mate. I won't- I won't get in your way-"
"What are you saying-"
"I'll stay just as a friend, hyungie." Jungkook's eyes had a determined look, regardless of the continuing flow of tears. "Or- or- i-if you d-don't like that, I-I c-can stay as a s-stranger. I won't even look at you, I promise. But please, hyungie-"
Jungkook put his hands around Taehyung and pulled him in to a tight hug. "Please just don't leave me.. I will die without you."
Taehyung could hold out any longer so he put his arms around Jungkook too, and pressed the younger to his chest tightly. He can hear Jungkook's sobbing, muffled by his own neck where the younger had pressed his face in to.
"You'll be okay, you hear me?! Nothing will happen to you. You will be safe, no matter what." Taehyung placed a fervent kiss on to the side of Jungkook's head. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, baby. But I have to go."
"N-no hyungie..P-please.."
Jungkook cried even louder when Taehyung detached his arms from their embrace and took few steps back. The younger didn't even had the strength to stop him, all he could do was watch what was happening.
Taehyung watched the crying boy in front of him for few seconds before he shifted. The huge black wolf looked even more magnificent as his dark fur glowed in the moon light. The wolf took a step back, clearly intending for the forest behind him, when a feeble voice stopped him.
"V.."
The black wolf lowered his head a bit when Jungkook walked closer with unsteady legs. He let the boy put his hands around him and snuggle in to his fur.
"Please stop him, V. Please don't let him leave me."
The black wolf whimpered as a response. He may not have used words, but Jungkook could recognise the apology in it very clearly. V was not in his side too.
Jungkook chuckled a bit as he pulled back from the embrace. It was not a happy sound, it was the sound of a heartbreak. He took few steps back and dropped to his knees. While looking straight at the blood red eyes of the wolf in front of him, Jungkook pleaded for one last time.
"Please don't leave me..."
But he lowered his head when he saw the black wolf walking away, leaving him alone on the ground.
There was no tears left to cry.

Other Tales of En
Welcome to The Other Tales of En, a place where I put short stories that didn't get to be told in the main series. These are scenes and tales of characters I just had to have more of, moments I needed to see, and self-indulgent interactions. I hope you love them as much as I do! Chapters are labelled with initials of the Tale first and have notes for their beginning and end. Any chance of spoilers are listed for each tale below as well as their initials. TABLE OF CONTENTS Tale 1: Taff and Adon (T&A) The tale of when Taff and Adon first met. Slight spoilers for Starchild but not really, let's just say Adon's version of the story in Stormspeaker wasn't *quite* accurate ;) Tale 2: Vai and Echa (V&E) The tale of the meeting everyone tried to prevent. It was bound to happen and this is how it went. Spoilers for Children of the Bear, particularly Fiona's Tale, I recommend reading when you are finished with that series. Tale 3 [IN PROGRESS]: Echa and Tryst (E&T) The tale of how the cowardly pirate and the bitter slave fell in love.
