《Dark Poetry》(XXXIX) I Wish You'd Forgotten me

Advertisement

Sometimes I wish you'd forgot me;

Forgot my selfishness that had corrupted your pure gold heart,

Forgotten the damage that I had I printed onto your skin,

Forgotten the way I'd have questioned your loyalty.

How silly was I? I should have know that you had always be mine.

Sometimes I wish you'd forgotten me;

But they can't make you happy- I certainly can't see it.

They can't damage you either for what it's worth.

But, in the end...

You can't be mended.

None of us can.

For no one can be mended of a broken heart.

I remember this now, as I stand at your grave-

Replacing the long wilted lilies that I had place here.

They too weep, as they die along with your presence.

But you know what?

I still wish you had forgotten me.
