《When Fireflies Diminish | Poetry》12 | Masks

I mask my soul's yearnings and pain,

In many layers of masks that are

Always present on my face,

And outwards I seem like I smile,

A feisty soul that never gives up.

But inwards there's a storm,

Brewing under the surface

Ready to turn upside down my world.

And I feel it inside my skin,

The tongues of snakes that want to bite

And kill all relationships.

But I mask them, I beg them still,

Let me be remembered for my kind soul

For bringing other's peace,

Even if my own soul is treading on thin ice,

Ready to sink in deep.
