《Mr. Executive》Chapter 44

Dead silence.
That's all I hear.
The event was still in full swing and the music was as lively as ever.
But I heard none of it, especially after Alexander's announcement.
Everything around me sounded distorted but the look of shock clearly shown on Sam's face is as clear as day.
He even seemed speechless.
As did everyone else.
"Well," continues Bill, his voice slowly coming back into proper orientation.
"Congratulations Alexander, I'm happy for you, the both of you." He says looking at me as well.
Alexander stiffly nods while I still stand there, mouth gaping, eyes wide.
"Why doesn't she have a ring on her finger." Calls out Sam, finally regaining his composure, or well trying to.
"We uh," Alexander begins but stops, looking down at me with emotionless eyes.
"We wanted it to be a private ordeal." I finally say out loud.
All eyes turn to me while Alexander remains quite, his arm tightly wrapping itself around my waist.
He was the one that freaking started this whole thing, why the hell isn't he doing anything?
Trying to get out of his hold, while making sure it wasn't too noticeable to be questioning, Alexander finally lets me go.
David steps forward and announces in a clear voice for people to join him for a drink.
Basically telling everyone that the show was over.
Sam still stood there as he looked from Alexander to me before finally sighing in what I guess was defeat.
Looking at Alexander once more, he pushes past the security men in suits, whom had quietly shown up during Alexander's announcement, and headed for the entrance to leave.
"Alexander?" I call out while he shakes his head at me and goes after his father, leaving me to stare after him.
"Well that was intense." Says Stella in amusement.
Abby throws Stella a sharp look while I timidly smile back.
Feeling a whole multitude of emotions.

"I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be right back." I say weakly.
"We'll be right here." Replies back Abby assuringly.
Smiling at her once more, I make my way to the restroom.
Reaching the restroom, I lean against the sink and take a deep breath.
Everything was so intense and bewildering.
Apparently I'm engaged now, I think wryly.
Laughing out nervously, I look around for a tissue, finding one I lightly wet it and rub it against the corner of my eyes.
The sweat that had formed under all those intense stares had me worried for my makeup but luckily nothing had run.
Only Alexander was capable of doing that.
I groan as the thought of Alexander brings up all those unidentifiable emotions back up.
Hearing Alexander call me his fiancée left me all giddy and excited.
But when he just left, it tore me apart.
Not even Sam's harsh words made me cry but seeing Alexander's emotionless eyes made me weep on the inside.
I knew I had feelings for him but this was something else entirely.
Taking in a deep breath once more, I turn around as the door entering into the bathroom opens.
Only for Alexander to walk in.
Into the ladies bathroom.
"Alexander!" I hiss, "what are you doing in here, you aren't allowed."
"I'm allowed wherever the hell I want Nora, now come on, we're leaving." He says angrily.
Cringing slightly, I nod my head, not willing to argue with him right now.
"Let me just grab my clutch and we can leave."
His sigh of annoyance is loud and clear before he finally nods his head.
"Fine but hurry the hell up. I don't want to be here any longer than necessary."
Exiting the bathroom, the two of us quickly go over to our table only to see Sandra, Alexander's mother, seated there with both Abby and Stella.
Stella quickly noticed this and grabs her mother, talking about meeting some person.

Sighing in relief, I grab my clutch and say goodbye to Abby, only to be carried away by Alexander who had my arm in a tight grip.
I inhale a deep breath of fresh air as we head outside into total darkness.
The lights outside make it just able to see our footing as we make our way over to the car.
"Alexander. David was looking for you. Wanted me to let you know that he'll be calling you soon."
The unknown man from before makes his way to us.
Now away from all that tension and disturbance, I am able to take him in.
His alluring blue eyes is what stood out the most, the colour of a stormy sky.
They were striking against his jet black hair and tanned skin as he nodded from me to Alexander.
"Thanks man, I'll see you soon to Damien."
"Yeah sure, it was nice to meet you Nora." Damien says addressing me, which was quite shocking.
"You too." I say smiling as he turns to leave.
Talk about being mysterious.
Not even letting me regain my footing, Alexander drags me over to his car.
No sooner where we in the car and Alexander was already off speeding down the road.
"You mind slowing down a bit?" I question timidly, watching the scenery from the car window blur past in streaks of blue and green.
Alexander didn't seem to hear me and continued to speed down the, for once, not so busy road.
"Alexander!" I snap as I grab a hold of the seat and the handle above the door.
"For fucks sake Nora." He growls out but slowly starts to decrease the speed to a more comfortable pace.
I exhale in release and quietly thank him.
The only indication of him hearing me was his tightly clenched jaw tightening even more.
Ten minutes later and we had already reached what was most definitely not my apartment.
I didn't argue with Alexander why he had brought me to his place and instead get out of the car and follow him to the interior of the house.
Heading upstairs and into his room, I just barely see the clothes being flung at me as he brushes past me and into the bathroom.
I wasn't really sure I wanted to stay here, especially if he was in such a brooding mood.
Finally deciding to change out of my clothes, I go into the next room to shower and change.
Feeling more at ease in comfortable clothes and no make up.
Entering back into Alexander's room all the pent up irritation I had finally dissipates as I see him sitting on the bed looking completely exhausted and tense.
"Alexander what's wrong?" I call out softly as I go over to him.
"Nothing." He whispers hoarsely.
Going over to him, he wraps his hand around my mid riff and holds me to him, his head leaning against my stomach while I delve my hands into his hair, scratching his scalp which seems to comfort him as he nuzzles further into me.
"I'm sorry for being such a jackass." He mutters out.
"Don't be, I'm used to it." I try to joke but stop at his blank face.
"I'm serious Nora, I guess I just freaked out."
"About what?" I say leaning down onto my knees.
"I shouldn't have said that, and before you say it's fine, it's not. People are going to be expecting us to be engaged."
"What does that mean?"
"I have an image and there were journalists and reports and everything over there." He says, eyes pleading me to understand.
Once again I question him, not quite wanting to believe him.
"What does that mean?"
You might just be looking at your new fiancé."
