《Mr. Executive》Chapter 37

My suspicions slowly start to grow again as Alexander once more pops his head round from the kitchen.
"I've made some spaghetti and garlic bread, you sure you don't want me to make anything else?"
This is exactly what was making me suspicious.
All throughout the rest of the day Alexander kept doing various things for me from insisting on doing the bed, to cleaning the dishes and now cooking the both of us lunch.
He was being nice.
Too nice.
Narrowing my eyes at him he simply grins back at me, showing pearly white perfectly aligned teeth.
"That's perfect thanks." I mumble out still looking at him through narrowed eyes.
"Great, and you can put in a movie if you want, your choice." He says as he goes back into the kitchen.
Okay, yup, something was most definitely going on.
Alexander James was sucking up to me.
But I wasn't going to stop him, I'm going to let this carry on till I grow tired of it, I think to myself smugly.
After we had our mini play fight Alexander had gone home just for a little while to grab a change of clothes and then came back to my apartment.
He had sworn he wouldn't be leaving me anytime soon and would try to do whatever it took to take my mind off of the 'situation' at hand.
Switching through the channels I finally settle for a decent comedy, something that would please the both of us and then decide to help the loveable idiot in the kitchen.
Heading into the kitchen, I surprisingly found it completely clean while Alexander worked meticulously in one part of the room.
The smell of food wafting towards me made my stomach start to snarl in protest for the food to be made quicker, luckily though Alexander hadn't heard it.
Nearly bursting into laughter at the sight before me, I manage to hold it in.
There Alexander stood looking utterly adorable with flour smudged cheeks and hair lying messy on his head with his tongue sticking out as he tried to make the dough for the bread.
Alexander catches me staring so I quickly head over to him and rub my thumb on his cheeks to get rid of the flour.

He smiles down at me appreciatively and kisses me on the forehead as a thanks.
Deciding to help him out in some way, I go over to the sink and turn the tap on to clean the dishes.
"Oh no you don't," says Alexander looking at me sternly. "Shoo go relax somewhere, I'll do the dishes, you can go watch the movie or something."
Rolling my eyes at him I answer back in a slightly huffy tone.
"It's just a few dishes James don't worry about it besides I want to watch the movie together."
He looks at me weirdly before grinning again, "did you just call me James?"
"Yes I did now shush and get cooking while I clean up."
Luckily he listens to me and does exactly that.
In almost five minutes I'm already done while Alexander now moves on to cooking something else, not even noticing me standing there idly.
Heading out of the kitchen to go do something else, I look back at him once more.
He'd definitely make a good husband.
Just as the thought runs through my mind it stops in the same second.
Holy shit.
My face feels insanely warm and I just shake my head trying to physically get rid of that thought.
Sitting back down onto the sofa, I grab my phone and start to scroll through my newsfeed of a certain app.
Coming across a picture of my older brother with one of his friends, I immediately realise how long it's been since we've last talked.
I quickly search through my contacts and find the familiar name.
"And here I thought you forgot about me." Comes Ben voice through the phone.
My heart throbs at his voice with that slight twang of a British accent that was starting to take root.
"I would never, you know that Ben." I say back seriously, not being able to help myself.
I missed my brother way too much.
"You know I'm messing with you Nora, anyways how are you, what's up? We haven't talked in ages."
"Nothing much, same old same old."
I still hadn't told any of my family members exactly what had happened and only told my parents of the new job I had gotten with Alexander.

"You always were a boring one." He says teasingly.
"Yeah yeah," I reply dismissively, "how's England going? Do you miss being back home and all?"
"Surprisingly no. I made the right choice moving here and everything you know. It's I don't know, I feel more at home here. Does that even make any sense?"
"No not at all, you always were weird." I joke, digging back at him.
I can imagine the scowl on his face but surprisingly he ignores my teasing.
We carry on talking for quite some time until Alexander comes into the living room with a proud smile on his face.
"Dinners ready babe." He says still holding that proud look in his eyes.
I can't help but to smile at him and nod my head.
"Woah back up there Nora. Babe? Who the hell was that?" Questions Ben from the other end, sounding alarmed.
"Oh no nothing. You must have misheard anyways I have to go Ben, bye, I'll call you later, soon, love you."
And with that I hang up.
I felt somewhat bad but knew that was the only way I could've excused myself from that awkward conversation.
Luckily though my phone pings alerting me of a message from Ben informing me that our conversation was far from over and that he would be calling me very soon.
At least he wasn't pissed or annoyed.
Apparently from the look on Alexander's face, he was most certainly annoyed.
"Who was that?" He questions in an offhandish tone.
Standing up, I look at him blankly before answering.
"He was my brother Alexander, jeez if I was talking to a lover I wouldn't do it in front you. I'm not that stupid."
"Oh okay," he seemingly relaxed before his face contorted into confusion. "Wait what did you just say? Repeat that last part."
"I'm messing with you." I say giggling, "you're the only for me." I say dramatically.
Alexander smiled in content and nodded his head, pleased with my answer.
Even though we both knew I was joking, a feeling in the pit of my stomach told me other wise, and that maybe I was being completely, utterly, serious about my statement.
*******
"So....." Alexander drags out.
Looking up at him from my plate of food, fork halfway to my mouth, I notice his sheepish look.
I nod my head for him to continue while I shove more food into my mouth.
In a ladylike manner of course.
"Well um I may need a favor to ask of you." Alexander says ever so slowly, I almost miss what he says.
Aha! I was right.
He was pampering me to get something.
Raising an eyebrow I once again nod my head for him to continue.
"So just imagine, hypothetically, if there's a charity even of sorts going on next week and supposedly I ask you out as my date or plus one. Will you agree?"
Throughout that whole mini speech Alexander focuses his sole attention to his plate and doesn't even bother to look at me.
"Are you asking or telling me?" I say cutting straight to the point.
I didn't mind going at all, it'd be fine as long as Alexander was there, and I had my phone with me of course, it might even be fun.
"Well I could just make you go." He says seeming delighted with the prospect of forcing me.
Sending him a sharp glare I answer.
"But you won't."
Noticing my look Alexander solemnly nods,
"But I won't."
"Good."
"So you'll come?" He asks tentatively.
"Eh sure why not. I don't have anything else to do."
"Great I could kiss you right now." He says ecstatic.
Giggling a little, I manage to keep a smirk on my face.
"So why don't you?"
The look of clear shock on Alexander's face at my words makes me double over in laughter while he simply huffs, muttering something along the lines of 'false promises.'
This charity even ought to be fun.
