《Mr. Executive》Chapter 33

The week goes by pretty fast with Alexander flirting around me continuously, even though I've told him numerous times not to, especially in the workplace.
Thursday comes pretty soon as I get out of the car, half dragging myself out of the taxi form the lack of sleep.
All throughout last night, Alexander would message me, I would message back of course but what irked me most as I stood in front of Alexander & Co enterprises was that as soon as I would even close my eyes and be on the brink of sleep, my phone would go off alerting me that he had messaged me.
Looking across the road and then to the building, I decide to go over to the little café to get some coffee.
The tedious task of 'excuse me's and gently pushing past people had left me even more disgruntled than before.
Finally emerging from the shop, I head over to the building.
Heading in through the glass front doors and into the lobby, I smile at the woman there, manning the desk.
Just as I reach the elevators, the doors slide open and somebody emerges and takes a step forward as I do so too.
Luckily though this time, the man grabs the containers out of my hand just as I am about to trip.
Regaining my balance, I look up to see a grinning Alexander.
"Lucky you." He says tauntingly.
"Oh hush, I'm running late. Now please move aside."
Alexander groans as he gets into the elevator with me.
I raise an eyebrow at him in question.
Almost sheepishly he answers,
"I was coming down to see where you were."
I almost 'aw' at him but the glare in his eyes stops me and I manage to keep the comment to myself.
Alexander finally presses the button to the floor that the both of us need to go on, slowly the elevator starts to rise up.
Not even a second goes by when I'm pushed up against the cool metal as Alexander looms down, right up against me.
"Alexander! Stop, anybody could walk in right now."
For some reason I am talking in a hushed voice as if people could hear us.

Alexander ignores my protest and opts for kissing the life out of me.
Pressing himself fully into me, all rationality flies out of my head as it always does so when I'm with him.
and I kiss him back just as eagerly.
My hands weave into his hair, pulling him closer as one of his hands grabs the back of my neck, tilting my head.
The other hand still holds onto the tray of coffee, waiter style.
The elevator makes a pinging noise before the doors start to open.
I gently shove him back and quickly try to straighten up my hair and attire.
He deviously smirks at me and then winks.
"Don't worry, I'll keep this secret safe and won't tell your boss." He says into my ear, "and by the way, you look like an exhausted mess." He pulls back and walks away.
What a charmer.
Smiling I head out of the elevator as well and thankfully note that no one saw what had just went down in the lift.
Taking my seat at my designated desk, I smile as I see Alexander had taken his cup and left mine on my desk.
I pull my head down and start to concentrate on my work.
*********
A buzzing of my phone snaps my attention out of my work.
Looking at it, I see I have a new text message.
Grabbing the phone, I start to tense up,
Glaring at my phone, I slam it back down.
This was the second time the creep had sent me a message.
I had decided to ignore it but the nagging feeling in my stomach told me that this might be serious.
I crane my neck to see Alexander's office door.
Maybe I should tell him?
Shaking the thought out of my head, I decide not to. I don't want to make him worry unnecessarily, it's probably nothing.
The ringing of the telephone nearly makes me jump out of my skin.
Picking it up, Alexander's voice comes through the line.
"Nora can you bring me that file regarding the publications department please." He says before hanging up.
Nodding my head to myself I grab the file from the small cabinet next to me before going over to Alexander's office.

Barging in like always, I manage to muster up a smile his way and place the file on his desk.
Turning around, I head to the door once more but stop in my tracks as the buzzing of my phone alerts me to another new message.
I hadn't even realised I'd brought it with me.
Swiping my phone, I tap on the message and look at it.
Anger courses through me at the message.
Doesn't this idiot have better things to do? Like I don't know, run a god damn business.
A harsh exhale of air hits my neck making me freeze.
Warm hands grasp my shoulders as they ever so slowly turn me around.
Facing Alexander, I see anger in his eyes and on his face as he looks down at me with an incredulous harshness.
My eyebrows furrow in confusion, I didn't expect him to be so angry.
"What the hell Nora?" He seethes out.
"What?" I question in confusion.
"What? You want to know what? You and Sam? I can't fucking believe this." He says glaring down at me and taking a few steps back.
Sam and I?
What the hell does he mean?
Realisation dawns on me as I march up to him.
How dare he?
Reaching him, I smack him on the arm.
"I can not believe you. How low do you think I am, huh?."
He glares back at me and we stay like that for a few more moments.
"You're not supposed to be mad at me! I'm supposed to be angry at you." He spits out childishly.
Rolling my eyes at him, I show him my phone.
"If you would stop jumping to conclusions and read the damn messages you would understand. Honestly ugh!" I groan out.
Looking from me to the phone, he snatches it from me after a while and ignores my death glare.
Scrolling through the few messages , I can see him start to tense up.
Finally Alexander looks up at me after about five minutes and lets out a soft "oh."
"Oh? That's all you have to say?"
"What? You never even told me about these damn messages. Why didn't you?"
Now it was my time to look sheepish as I cleared my throat.
"I didn't want to worry you for no reason." I mumble out.
Alexander clearly hears me and breaths out a gush of air.
He reaches out to me and brings me into his arm, hugging me tightly.
"You should've told me Nora. I don't care if you think it's unimportant or unnecessary, everything regarding you is important to me okay?
He lifts my chin with his finger so he can look into my eyes.
I nod my head and reach up on to my tip toes to kiss him.
"Thank you."
"No problem love, just tell me next time, okay?"
I agree and nod my head.
"Yeah, Okay."
He leads me over to his desk chair and sits down on it, bringing me with him.
Going through the messages once again, he quickly looks up at me.
"When did you start getting these messages, I'm assuming recently since they're so less?"
"Um yeah I guess, like last week you know." I mumble out.
"Last week? Bloody hell Nora."
I giggle out nervously, not knowing what else to do.
Picking up his phone, he calls someone and speaks into the phone.
"Hello Xavier. I need to ask you something," he paused and plays with my hair, tucking it behind my ear before resuming to speak." Yeah I need you to block a number for me, I'll send it you right now. Make sure it doesn't reach the other number at all. Am I clear? Okay great."
With that he slams his phone down.
"Who was that?" I ask
"A friend of mine." He says simply, still looking at my phone.
"You talk to your friends like that?" I giggle out.
"Oh hush Nora." He scolds me gently while I continue to laugh at his stiffness.

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
