《The Sun Met The Deep End (Vegas Pete)》CHAPTER 8 {Noticed the unnoticed}

I woke up feeling a harsh headache, Looking around making sure i'm in my room then rubbing my forehead trying to remember what had happened last night.
The last thing i remember is them making me drink so much then i.... Pete.
I stood up making my way to the door remembering him.
I quickly grabbed the door knob hoping to see pete so that i'd ask him what had happened yesterday but as soon as the door opened there was no sight of Pete at all, Instead i caught Porsche chatting with one of the guards so i decided to go ahead and ask him Instead.
"Hey porsche!" I said putting a fake smile on my face.
He turned to me smiling back.
"Did you see my bodyguard?"
"Your bodyguard? Are you feeling alright after what happend yesterday?" Porsche asked trying to change subject.
"My bodyguard Pete." I replied coldly hoping for a quick answer.
I felt Porsche get closer to me trying to get my temperature by placing his hand on my forehead, My anger started to build up. Why is he avoiding my question!? I grabbed his hand putting it down saying
"Thanks for your concern but I'm alright."
I stayed quiet before a question came out of my mouth..
"Is pete dead?" I asked thinking they might of messed with him too.
"No Pete's off duty this morning, Why? Is there something you need to solve with him?"
"No? I need Pete for something"
It got quiet.
"Porsche what happened last night?"
He laughed straight at my face.
"Is this why you wanted to see Pete so bad? Or is it because of something i might not know of?" He said raising his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes at his statement,
"So tell me." I demanded.
He sighed.
"Everything was going great till you got drunk, Pete went over to help you by taking you into one of the bedrooms. He then decided that it was better to take you home which was luckily the best choice because after your father's body was sent off we heard bullet shots who were shot by one of the guests who were invited. I'm guessing your dad owned him something."
I was stunned at my own actions, Pete's and the guests.
I was sure i didn't get drunk on my own but they might of added something to my drink.
I had to get to Ken for more information about the guests and where they came from.
There were so many questions being questioned in my head at the moment..
What am i doing? The main family was the reason for my dad's death.. or were they?some of those guests took part of it aswell.. or did they? The people who should be killed are right infront of me but i'm too blinded to see it... or was i?...
I hit my head thinking about it all.
"Damn it."
"You need some rest, Pete will be back from his break in a few hours" Porsche said smiling before i turned around and walked towards Marcau's room.
Knock knock
"Come in" Someone said.
I came in the room seeing Marcau sitting with Ken.

"Vegas! I was worried about you bro!" He said running towards me giving me a warm hug.
"I'm alright marcau, Don't worry." I replied brushing his hair with my hands.
"Sir Vegas, The guest that had pulled the trigger yesterday goes by the name of Jayon Mykon. Luckily no one got shot. He used to work with your father back in the 19s, He now lives down the street owning a small bakery."
Ken said trying to give me as much information as possible but suddenly Marcau spoke up.
"Vegas.. You better leave him alone. I thought we stopped all this!" Marcau backed away from me giving me an angry look.
I know we did but my dad would of wanted revenge! As if he'd know any better.
"And i know someone who might know Jayon." Ken added ignoring Marcau's words.
"I'm going to rest." I said before walking out of the room to walk to mine instead and take a small nap.
○A few hours later○
After eating the lunch my grandma had prepared for me i got ready to be back on duty.
I wore my black suit fixing the badge i had pinned on my jacket before walking to Vegas's bedroom.
I knocked, no one replied. He might be sleeping i thought. I took the chance to walk in and check on him.
I saw his body fully covered under the dark red sheets he had.
I got a tray ready with a cup of warm water, medicine and a small cookie that the counter lady ordered me to give him.
Walking to the side of the bed he was sleeping on, i slowly placed my hand on his forehead to check his temperature.
It was normal, i'm assuming he's in better condition.
"Pete" Vegas whispered to me with his eyes still closed catching my attention.
"Leave." He ordered.
I frowned my brows in confusion.
What? Did he just ask me to LEAVE? Or is he mad about yesterday?
I leaned in closer to his face
"Sorry?" I asked waiting for a more logic response.
"I said leave." He whispered aggressively. I sensed it.. Someone was watching us.
Is this jerk trying to get himself killed?
I felt a presence behind me but i had to stay natural.
"Vegas!" I quickly got into an act as if i was in theatre class.
"Please stay alive!" I said reaching for his hand. He still pretended to be asleep but i knew he was making fun of me in his head.
The presence behind me kept getting closer and closer.. till i placed Vegas's hand in my back pocket making it look like i'm holding Vegas's hand near my stomach area but sliding it behind through my jacket where my gun was placed.
He wasted no time.
"Hands down" Vegas yelled opening his eyes pointing the gun he had pulled from me towards the unknown persons head.
I quickly turned around to be faced with Ken.
"Pete?" He asked confused
"You cut your mullet!" Ken added happily putting the gun down.
"Ken? What the hell dude!? You nearly killed me!" I yelled at him in shock still confused.

"Apologies i didn't recognise you! I thought you were an intruder who broke in trying to take advantage of Vegas."
I didn't know what to say? But why was he here in the first place..
Wait what am i thinking!? Ken would never do such things.
"How did you get in here?" Vegas asked Ken with a puzzled expression.
"I walked in to drop these documents." He said pointing at the table where the documents were neatly placed.
"But suddenly someone came in and i couldn't clearly see who it was so i thought it must've been an intruder." He added smiling.
Something wasn't adding up to his story yet a part was.
Ken is one of my most trusted bodyguards and i'd never suspect him in this type of situation.
"Thank you ken, you may go back to duty. I'll take care of Vegas." I said pointing to the door with my eyes which Ken understood and followed along.
Facing Vegas again he was staring deeply at me, I wasn't sure for what reason his eyes were cutting through my soul? Why's he acting like i wasn't about to get killed a few seconds ago.
He suddenly grabbed my hand pulling me back to sit on the bed near him.
"Pete what happened yesterday?" He asked me with an unreadable expression.
"Nothing sir Vegas, you just got drunk." I answered not wanting to give anything away.
"Did anything else happen after that?" His grip hardened on my wrist making me pull away.
"No, i simply took you back home sir Vegas." I answered smiling wanting to smack the hell out of him after nearly getting me killed last night and today.
"Call me Vegas from now on. I need your help with something tomorrow. I'll call you when needed." Vegas said pushing me off the bed making me on nearly fall.
I never understood him. He's nice but then treats me like complete bullsh*t. If i wasn't his bodyguard i would've run him over by now.
"I'll be off then Vegas." I said heading towards the door and leaving.
Pete lied straight up to my face.
He's definitely of the the most fierce bodyguards i've met.
Did he maybe know this man? Is that why he didn't tell me!? Bastard.
And ken
I hit my head thinking about the scene on replay.
I directly told Ken not to lay a bullet on Pete unless i found him useless, He could help me find Jayon's adresse, family and more.
I want to feel his blood drip onto my skin to feel satisfied of my revenge.
I don't want to do anything to the main family, or Pete or Porsche, they aren't suspects anymore but mainly because Marcau has been getting along very well with everyone. A more positive and safe environment was what i always wanted for him.
On the other hand i don't feel safe here, Not with them or with anyone in this house but that doesn't matter.
I need Pete to agree on doing this with me, i know we both have our hard moments of hatred but i know i wouldn't stand a chance against Pete and he wouldn't stand a chance against me so we'd make great team right?
I placed my head in my hands brushing my hair back in frustration.
Or else i'll just ask for porsche's help i thought to myself.
○Next day○
Heading down to have breakfast i saw Marcau eating alone.
"Hey Marcau what's up with the sad face?" I said pointing at his face as i walked to sit on the chair next to him.
He immediately smiled when he saw me call out for him.
"Pete! I'm fine, just daily thoughts going through my mind you know?" he said smiling trying to move on from that subject which we did.
"But there is one thing i'm curious about.." Marcau looked at me Suspiciously.
"And what is that?"
"Is Vegas planning anything?" Marcau suddenly asked.
For some reason i didn't know what to stay because i haven't suspected Vegas in a while now.. wait i don't suspect Vegas..!? Nonsense.
"I'm not so sure Marcau but there's nothing for you to worry about!" I said smiling at him and patting his back trying to comfort him.
"I'm worried for him. He hasn't been himself ever since we've gotten here. I'm afraid he'll be in danger one day and that none of us would notice."
I understood Marcau. He's worried for a loved one.
He lost his parents so loosing Vegas would end it all for him.
He grew up having to grow up too early.
Him and Vegas had to watch everything fly away like ashes through their fingers.
It ruined them to the point where they are reckless without each other.
"Marcau, nothing will happen to Vegas.
I'm with him all the time, i'm here to ensure his safety."
"I wouldn't let a single finger lay on him." I said raising my eyebrows amusingly.
We both laughed
"Thank you Pete. I know Vegas is hard to understand but he appreciates you Pete. He just wouldn't dare to admit it." Marcau placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Thanks Marcau, I'll get going so take care!"
Standing up then making my way to Vegas's room to check on him.
Knock knock
"Come in" a voice softly replied.
I walked in seeing Vegas sitting in his desk with a black hoodie, grey sweatpants, Glasses and his messy hair while he was focused on his computer.
He suddenly locking his eyes with mine.
"Pete? Where were you" he asked.
"Marcau needed some company.
Is there anything you need?" I replied.
He let out a sigh.
"We need to talk."
To be continued...

Re:Hammer - The Hammering
Sequel to the sort of liked Re:Hammer. Set in 40k universe, and generally on course. Personal changes are detailed in the Prologue because it's quite a bit. It's not really ended nor is it an attrocity like End Times, but I've got a few things to change. To note: Druchii arc (If this means nothing to you, go read Re:Hammer first) has been learned from and will be avoided. This is not to say there won't be any sex, but we will certainly try to keep it less crazy. Feedback is, as always, appreciated and worked with.

Life is Feudal
No OP stuff, status bars, levels or skills. This story is in favour of more realistic setting in a world of humans and various monsters. "Behind the mask of the assertive, resolute facade that employs ruthless routes at any given moment, lies the frail, anxious heart that were once but a puny human. Reviled and revered by many, none would ever know my true allegiance lies within myself, merely trying to survive this mess." Just the life of a grumpy man child living in a terrible piece of shit or a desolate state in which I call an alternate historical take on medieval Europe. Living as a peasant who is forced to take up arms to defend his own kin. This story grants an insightful take on the life of people living under constant danger, from vying nobles who commit atrocities in the name of justice, eager nations and barbarians aiming to take a piece of the bountiful land and mythical divine monsters who resembles a walking catastrophe in any possible way. [If you're easily offended by alternate-history religion and cultural practices, then you shouldn't read this.]
