《The Puppy Type (OHSHC)》11. Daichi's Male Client
Advertisement
A/N: This one will be split into two parts as it is Daichi's focus episode, and I want to spend extra time on it. You're in for a wild ride.
A/N: THE SPORT DAICHI PLAYS IS EUROPEAN FOOTBALL ALSO CALLED SOCCER. THE UNIFORMS KYOYA AND MORI WEAR ARE FROM AMERICAN FOOTBALL. ANYTIME A SPORT IS REFERRED TO AS ONLY 'FOOTBALL', IT IS EUROPEAN FOOTBALL ALSO CALLED SOCCER.
Daichi's lazily rubbing at his eyes as Kyoya goes over the schedule for the day. The bed right now is way too comfortable for him to pay complete attention.
"Now, we have the usual clients in the morning before classes start. Do you remember what color block today is?" Kyoya asks.
Daichi scratches at the back of his head. It's a Thursday, and Thursdays are... Not green, no that's Monday. Or is green Tuesday? No, no, green is Monday, and Tuesday is red. Wait, today is red, isn't it? Yesterday was a yellow block. What comes after yellow? Was it green again or another yellow? How many yellows are there in the week? Is it—
"Too hard?"
At the sound of his senpai's gentle voice, Daichi looks up to see Kyoya's now sitting next to him. He's got a small drink of water and a pill in his hand. He smiled slightly at Daichi.
"Did you not sleep well?" Daichi shakes his head no. "It's all right, puppy. Too much thinking before your medicine is hard anyway. Here." Daichi takes the pill and downs it with the water, giving the cup back to Kyoya. "Good. Now you do your best to listen while I get us ready?"
Kyoya goes about the room, helping Daichi get dressed in his clothes. "It's a green block today, so I'll meet you after your literature class to go to the host club. There's a sports theme today, and... you have a male guest." Daichi looks down at Kyoya, who's buttoning his jacket. "And he's not one of the usuals. I'll be keeping a close eye on you. After club, you have a normal schedule until the end of the day. Chin up."
Daichi does as asked as Kyoya latches the collar around his neck. Today's has footballs on it in coordination with the theme. Now fully dressed, the two are ready to head out the door. But as Daichi stands, Kyoya stops him with his hands on the younger's waist. He leans in close to his ear, kissing just underneath it.
"Behave yourself... and you might just get a repeat of last night," he whispers.
Daichi leans up just slightly and pecks Kyoya's cheek. "Yes, senpai."

Haruhi's PoV
That morning at the Host club, the girls are absolutely fawning over the hosts all dressed in their sports' uniforms. Mori-senpai and Kyoya-senpai are dressed in American football style jerseys. I'm matching Honey-senpai as brightly-colored tennis players. Tamaki-senpai wears baseball clothes. The twins are dressed in basketball uniforms reminiscent of Renge's dramatic movie. Daichi is the only one dressed in football clothes. He simply chooses to wear his own school kit. At Kyoya-senpai's suggestion, Daichi starts performing tricks with the football, but he seems kind of tired. Now everyone watches closely.
"Wow, he looks so adorable!" a girls gushes.
"And he's so good at football! I might have to go to one of his games now!"
"Since when did Daichi play football?" I ask. The twins come over to me smirking.
"He's played ever since we were in elementary school. You know, he's the captain of the team," they say.
"Chi-chan's the best player in the nation!" Honey-senpai cheers. "He even got to play with the national team in an exhibition match!"
Really? Strange. I never pictured Daichi as someone who plays sports. He seems too indifferent. "Daichi doesn't seem the type to play sports," I say.
Kyoya-senpai smirks, not taking his eyes off Daichi. "He's excellent at deceiving people, an admirable quality."
Sure... admirable. "I wonder what other tricks he's got up his sleeve."
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
In literature class, I find my focus drifting to Daichi. I always wonder how he made it to Class 1-A. I mean, I'm not trying to be rude, but he doesn't exactly seem smart. He struggles with just speaking most of the time, and he never gets much work done in class or participates in class discussion. Kyoya-senpai must help him with most of his homework. Then, how does he pass the tests?
We're reading our book together in class when suddenly, I hear the teacher call out, "Mr. Akiyama. Your mind doesn't seem to be on the book. Why don't you read for us to stay focused?"
I can see Daichi almost panic sitting on the other side of Kaoru. The twins are stunned too. "Did he just call on Daichi? That's never happened before."
Slowly Daichi stands, keeping his eyes firmly planted on the book in his hands. "In ans-ansi—"
"Ancient," the teacher corrects.
"In ancient civil-civil-lization, happiness w-was not a kon— not a konk—"
"Concept."
"Not a concept w-worth devil- devilip-"
"Developing. That's quite enough, Mr. Akiyama. Take your seat please. You'd do well to stay focused next time."
Daichi does as the teacher says and sits. The rest of class, it doesn't look like Daichi's focused. He keeps his head down the whole time. I feel bad for him, the teacher calling him out like that, but I can't do anything about it now.

Kyoya's PoV
My class gets let out early, so I head down to Daichi's classroom while Tamaki goes and gets the Host Club ready. When the first year's class gets let out, the twins come out first. They seem nervous about something.
"We might have a problem," they say. I quirk an eyebrow. "The teacher had Daichi read out loud."
I can see the teacher through the doorway, and I fix him with a harsh glare. "I see... And how long did he have to read?"
"Only for a sentence," Kaoru says quickly.
Hikaru hangs his head. "But it was long enough to make him feel embarrassed."
"Haruhi's trying to move him, but he's pretty sad about it," they say. "We think he fell asleep."
Of course he is. The teacher called on him in front of everyone else. I didn't prepare him for such a situation. Wordlessly, I walk into the classroom to see Haruhi and some other students crowded around my puppy.
"Oh look, it's Kyoya-senpai," the girls whisper.
"He can wake up Daichi, right?"
Haruhi steps back, and I squat down in front of Daichi's desk so I'm eye-level with him. "Daichi," I say firmly. I tap his shoulder, and he stirs a little bit. "It's not nap time yet. You need to wake up." With a little hum, he opens his eyes and sits up. "Come on. It's time to go to the Host Club. Remember, nap time is later today."
As he stands, I grab his bag for him and we head out the door. When we're in the hall, I notice his eyes are hardly staying open. He must really be tired? Did he have nightmares last night and not tell me? Nothing else would make him have such a terrible night of sleep. Besides, this exhaustion is starting to effect other things. He wouldn't eat more than a bite of breakfast this morning, and apparently he's falling asleep in class. He never does that.
Poor puppy.
I help him get ready for the Host Club, a nagging thought in my mind that I've forgotten something. When his first client arrives, I'm rudely reminded of what it is. His male client.
This boy's known for being a player, Mr. Nagisa Matsuda. If he even does one thing to my Daichi... he's in for a world of terror.
Matsuda sits next to Daichi on the couch, while my couple guests and I are across from them. He puts his hand around my Daichi's collar, and I can't help but glare at him. None of the male guests have ever done such a thing, much less without asking.
"You haven't had a male customer in awhile, have you, Daichi?" a girl asks.
Daichi shakes his head no, but Matsuda pulls on his collar a little harder. "Don't move your head," he says roughly.
Daichi stays still. Damn it. Why does he have to be so obedient to everyone?
"I think you're being a little rough with him," a girl says nervously.
Another braver girl adds, "Yeah, Kyoya-senpai is never that forceful, are you?" I shake my head, eyes planted firmly on that idiot.
He smirks like a devil. "Yeah? Well, I'm not Kyoya, am I?" He yanks even harsher on Daichi's collar, and I see him flinch. That son of a— "Sometimes a dog needs a firm, guiding hand."
"Please, be nicer to him!" a girl shouts. That garners the attention of everyone in the room.
"Why should I? He likes it, right?" That sick voice should never direct itself towards my puppy. Daichi doesn't answer, and Matsuda tightens his grip around his neck. I can see the red crawl up Daichi's neck. The quirks of his lip. He's ready to burst, and so am I.
"Please stop! You're hurting him!"
"SHUT UP!"
"Enough." Daichi yanks himself out of Matsuda's grasp, stands, and whirls around to face him. He fixes the much taller boy with an icy stare. His growls are the most aggressive I've heard in a long time. "I don't care what you say to me," he says. This tone... It's not one I've heard before. I haven't seen him this angry before. It's... overpowering. "I don't care what you do to me. But you don't dare raise your voice to these ladies. Apologize to her now."
The guy's sweating, and glances between Daichi and the girl. "I'm sorry! I-I'm sorry! I won't do it again, I swear!"
"You're not classy enough for this club. Don't ever come back. Now... go."
And Matsuda runs.
Once he's gone, Daichi turns to the girls and bows. "I'm sorry your time was ruined."
"Oh no, Daichi, it's okay!" the girl frantically shouts. "I'm fine. I promise. Are you okay?"
"Fine."
No. My puppy is not fine.
A/N: Please don't feel afraid to comment and let me know what you think. I'd love to hear what you all are feeling about our little puppy.
