Daichi breathes against his partner's chest, warming the bare skin. He can hear a faint ringing. Slowly it's getting louder. With a groan Daichi opens his eyes. Kyoya is fast asleep underneath him. The younger boy reaches toward the nightstand, grabbing Kyoya's phone. He recognizes Tamaki's contact and answers the call while crawling back under the covers.

Tamaki: Hey Kyoya, there's something I need to talk to you about.

Daichi: Sleeping.

Tamaki: Oh, Daichi! Hi. Why are you both still sleeping? It's late.

Daichi: Sunday.

Tamaki: Right, well, could you wake Kyoya up please?

Daichi: ... ... ...

Tamaki: Please, Daichi?! Just this once. It's important.

Daichi sighs as he looks at Kyoya.

Daichi: Wait.

He sets the phone on the nightstand and very carefully shakes Kyoya. "Senpai," he whispers.

Kyoya moans, opening his eyes. "Daichi... What?"

"Phone."

"Is it important?" Kyoya asks, trying to ignore the cute tired puppy above him.

"Senpai," is all he says.

Kyoya, who has no idea who Daichi is talking about, grabs the phone.

Kyoya: Yes?

Tamaki: Oh good. Kyoya, it's Tamaki.

Kyoya looks sharply at Daichi. "Not important."

Daichi looks at the apartment building in surprise. The place seems much nicer than what Tamaki has said he dreamed of.

"So, this is where Haruhi lives?" asks Kaoru.

"It's pretty big, huh? Bigger than I thought it would be," Hikaru admits.

"Yeah, look at all the rooms!" Honey shouts. Daichi nods in agreement. There are windows everywhere that indicate many rooms.

"This building is what you might call an aggregate commoner dwelling," Kyoya explains. "Haruhi's home is just one of the many units in the building."

"Now, listen up, men, don't you forget!" Tamaki instructs. "We must be polite. This is a casual 'we just happened to be in the neighborhood' kind of visit. We're not here to judge the Fujioka family's lifestyle. The words, shabby, cramped and run-down, are absolutely forbidden."

"Right! Yes, sir!"

"Don't say anything that might offend Haruhi or her father and cause them to ask us to leave."

"Well it's too late for that. Go away." Daichi looks to Haruhi, who's just walked up with a bag of groceries.

"Haruhi!" Tamaki shouts

"Get the hell out of here!"

Tamaki is completely stunned. "Haruhi's so mad she actually cursed at us."

The landlady also comes over, looking nervous at the boys. "Excuse me, Haruhi, but is everything all right?"

"Oh hi miss landlady," Haruhi greets.

"Those young men are driving such fancy foreign cars. They are not Yakuza, are they?"

"No, they're not."

"Do you want me to call the police for you?"

Tamaki swoops in like a hawk. "Pleased to meet you, madam."

Before he can say more, the twins yank him away, replacing him with Daichi. The young boy bows to the landlady. "We're very sorry for any trouble we've caused, miss. We're just excited to see our friend, Haruhi."

The landlady is blushing at Daichi's deep respective bow.

"Really? My goodness, why aren't you just adorable?" she says. "And such manners."

Haruhi can only stare. "That's the most I've heard him talk," she mutters.

"We'll do our best to quiet down, miss," Daichi continues. "I'm sorry."

"Oh, it's no problem. I'll stop by later with some snacks for you and your friends," the landlady tells Haruhi. "See you later."

"I could've done that," Tamaki grumbles once she's gone.

"No way," Hikaru says. "Face it, boss."

"Daichi is better at using charm on adults," Kaoru finishes. But, as Daichi returns to Kyoya's side, Tamaki refuses.

Haruhi leads them all to her front door with a bad attitude. "Okay, here is the deal. I'm only giving you guys a quick peek, three seconds. And you all go home, got it?" she asks.

"Look, I brought you a gift, Haru-chan. I know how you love cake. There is both chocolate and strawberry. I think we should have some."

"Fine. I guess I'll make some tea," Haruhi mumbles.

Haruhi leads them all to her home and lets them inside. The rich folk are struggling to accept the little size of the place. It's smaller than most of their personal bedrooms. They all sit around the table gym-style while Haruhi goes to prepare the African tea the twins have.

Suddenly the twins and Tamaki are all dramatically crying over something, but Haruhi, undeterred, brings the tea over. She has a cup for everyone except Daichi, who, she remembers, can't drink a cup by himself.

Once everything is handed out, Honey takes out the cakes he had brought. "Come on, Haru-chan. You can choose your cake first," he says happily.

"Are you sure, Honey senpai?" asks Haruhi.

"Go ahead," Hikaru says bluntly. "We're rich. We eat this kind of stuff all the time.

Kaoru and Tamaki panic over that, but no one else is bothered by it.

"Um in that case, I'll have the strawberry."

The cakes are all passed out; but Haruhi notices that Daichi doesn't get one, and he doesn't share with Kyoya. She doesn't ask why because of course Daichi wouldn't answer for himself, and because she isn't sure it's something Kyoya would be willing to share. For another day then.

With some conversation and a little amount of time, the hosts finish their desserts. Honey, however, as small as he may seem, has a big appetite. It's his idea to have Haruhi make them lunch.

Haruhi, however, decides she needs to go back to the grocery store for some things then. The hosts, all excited over the wonders of a poor person's world, are ready to tag along.

Daichi runs up ahead with Honey, their partners following behind at a more leisurely pace. As they walk down through the lobby, a strange-looking woman catches Daichi's eye. He stops and quirks his head to one side. She's headed up to the apartments that they had just left.

Where has Daichi seen that face before?

Finally, they realize, Tamaki and Haruhi aren't following. The twins head back first, laughing about all the possibilities. The other boys come soon after.

The scene Daichi enters in on is... confusing.

Tamaki's being stepped on by the twins, who approach that strange woman. That's when Daichi remembers where she's from. A picture of her, no, him, had been in Kyoya's notes about Haruhi.

It was Haruhi's dad.

Trying to regain some semblance of civility, they all go around the table, now focused on Haruhi's dad. Everyone except for Tamaki is happy. As it is, he's sulking with a dark aura around him.

"I get it," Haruhi's dad says happily. "You must be the host club I've heard so much about. You certainly are a fine looking bunch of young men. I'm not sure which of you I like best. What about you, dear? I'll tell you what. Why don't you boys go ahead and call me Ranka? That's the professional name I use at the transvestite bar I work at."

"Professional name? You mean like a stage name?" Honey asks.

"Exactly like that, Mitsukuni."

"Hold on, how did you know my name, sir?"

"You two are 3rd-years Mitsukuni Haninozuka and Takashi Morinozuka." She then points to the twins. "And two of you are 1st-years and in the same class as Haruhi. You're the Hitachiin twins. But I'm not sure which one of you is which. I've heard a lot about you. And you're Daichi Akiyama, the first year. You really are adorable, you know?"

Daichi feels a little bit weirded out hearing that from Haruhi's dad.

"What?" asks Hikaru. "So Haruhi told you about us?"

"No, Kyoya told me about you two over the phone."

Kyoya smiles like the half-devil he is. "You know, you really are a beautiful person, Ranka."

"We've been entrusted with the care of his precious daughter. It is only natural that we introduce ourselves and give periodic reports. Ordinarily, that would be your job, wouldn't it?" he directs at Tamaki.

"I'm impressed that the club has such a capable president," Ranka compliments. "But wait a minute. You're only the vice-president, aren't you, Kyoya? I guess that president of yours is pretty much good for nothing, huh."

Haruhi, totally over the whole thing, leaves for the supermarket by herself. Ranka continues by fawning over Haruhi and how she used to be when she was little.

After that, Ranka took them on a field trip to the commoners' supermarket to spy on Haruhi. Daichi hates having to stay in place without Haruhi noticing them, so he's thrilled when Tamaki blows their cover.

Letting his mind wander, he explores the wonders of the commoners' supermarket with Kyoya close by. The younger tries to climb up the high shelves, but Kyoya pulls him down, half-distracted by coupons. "No, Daichi, shelves are for the products, not you."

What an underwhelming market if he couldn't even climb on anything.
