《The Puppy Type (OHSHC)》1. Starting Today, You're Stuck Here

Being the puppy type of the Ouran Host Club has its ups, and, so far, no downs. Daichi Akiyama is free to do what he wants. He wears dog collars every day to school. He entertains clients with his better half, Kyoya, and all at the price of cake. Not that he'll eat the cake though. Daichi doesn't eat cake, but he could if he wanted to! Because here at the Ouran Host Club, anything is possible!
When one certain Haruhi walks into the abandoned music room he sees none other than seven good-looking boys. "This is a host club?" he asks.
"Oh wow, it's a boy," the twins say, Hikaru and Kaoru.
"Hikaru, Kaoru, I believe this young man is in the same class as you and Daichi, isn't he?" asks Kyoya. He stares blankly at the flailing child in front of him.
"Yeah, but he's shy. He doesn't act very sociably so we don't know much about him," they answer. Daichi says nothing. He only stands still in front of his genius senpai, Kyoya.
"Oh, that wasn't very polite."
"Haruhi Fujioka," Daichi says quietly. He doesn't take his eyes off the new kid. Kyoya smiles faintly and pats the shorter boy's head of white hair, which causes both of them to relax just a bit.
"Well done. Welcome to the Ouran Host Club, Mr. Honor Student," Kyoya greets.
"Oh you're the exceptional honor student we've heard about," says Tamaki. He stands to get a better look of the boy.
"How did you know my name?" Haruhi asks, sweat dripping down his face as he stops his frantic attempts to open the door and flee for his life.
"Why, you're infamous," answers Kyoya. "It's not every day that a commoner gains entrance into our academy. You must have an audacious nerve to work hard enough to fight your way into this school as an honor student, Mr. Fujioka."
"Well ah-thank you. I guess," Haruhi says.
"You're welcome," says Tamaki. He's now standing with an arm around Haruhi's shoulder, despite how uncomfortable he looks. "You are a hero to other poor people, Fujioka. You've shown the world that even a poor person can excel at an elite private academy. It must be hard for you to constantly be looked down upon by others."
"I think you're taking this poor thing too far," he grumbles.

Tamaki doesn't hear. "Spurned, neglected. But that doesn't matter now. Long live the poor! We welcome you, poor man, to our world of beauty!"
"I'm outta here." Haruhi turns to leave but is stopped when Honey runs and pulls on his arm.
"Hey! Come back here, Haru-chan! You must be like a super hero or something. That's so cool!"
"I'm not a hero, I'm an honor student. And who are you calling Haru-chan?!"
Honey quickly runs crying to Mori.
"I never would have imagined the famous scholar would be so openly gay," muses Tamaki.
"Openly what?"
"So tell me what kind of guys you're into," Tamaki says, walking closer. "Do you like the strong silent type? The boy Lolita? How about the mischievous type? The puppy? Or the cool type?"
Haruhi backs away nervously. "I uh... I-It's not like that. I was just looking for a quiet place to study."
"Or maybe you're into a guy like me. What do you say?"
So disgusted, Haruhi backs up until he bumps into an expensive vase. They all watch as it crashes to the ground, each one disappointed and surprised.
Daichi was right to be wary of this kid. He lets out a little growl, and Haruhi screams in shock. Kyoya pulls on the back shirt to make sure he doesn't go anywhere, and the boy stops his growling.
"We were going to feature that Renaissance vase in an upcoming school auction," Hikaru says.
"Oh, now you've done it, commoner," Kaoru adds. "The bidding on that vase was supposed to start at eight million yen."
Haruhi immediately freaks out. "What, eight million yen? How many thousand yen is that? How many thousands are in eight million? I'm gonna have to pay you back."
"With what money?" ask the twins. "You can't even afford a school uniform."
"What's with that grubby outfit you've got on anyway?" asks Kaoru.
Easily distracted, Daichi tries to pick up a piece of the broken vase, but Kyoya quickly takes it away and pulls Daichi close to his side. "Don't do that. That's dangerous. Well, what do you think we should do, Tamaki?"
Their leader goes to sit in his chair, a pleasant look on his face. "There's a famous saying you may have heard, Fujioka. When in Rome, you should do as the Romans do. Since you have no money, you can pay with your body. That means, starting today, you're the host club's dog!"

Daichi looks quickly to Tamaki, and he frowns. "Sorry, Daichi, I meant to say 'servant'."
------------------------------------------------------------
Daichi is sitting with Kyoya across from their four guests. Just then Haruhi comes over with five cups of tea. He sets them on the table, and everyone but Daichi takes one. "Daichi," one of the girls says, "how come I've never seen you drink tea before?"
Kyoya smirks, taking a sip from his own cup."A cup of is far too much for him to stomach. Besides, he much rather prefers sharing with me. Isn't that right, Daichi?"
The boy nods as Kyoya tips the cup to his lips for him. The girls coo at the sight, but it makes Haruhi walk away. When he is done drinking, he turns to Kyoya. "Too hot," he murmurs.
"I'm sorry, next time I'll be sure to blow on it for you. I would hate for you to burn yourself."
"OH SO HANDSOME TOGETHER!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Boss."
"Call me king."
"You can teach him all the basics of hosting..." Kaoru says.
"...but he's not going to get very far with the ladies if he doesn't look the part, you know. He's not exactly host club material, but maybe if we took off his glasses, it'll help." Hikaru finishes, taking off the boy's glasses.
"Hey, I need those! I used to have contacts, but I lost them on the first day of school," Haruhi whines.
But Tamaki seems to have been hit with a stroke of genius... or just a stroke.
"Hikaru, Kaoru."
"Got it."
Haruhi stares in confusion as the twins run off.
"Kyoya, my hair stylist." Kyoya pulls out his phone and dials the number obediently. "Mori-senpai, go to the eye doctor and get him some contact lenses." Mori runs off in an instant.
"What about me, Tama-chan?" asks Honey.
"Honey-senpai."
"Yes, sir."
"You... go play fetch with Daichi."
"It's just us, Chi-chan," Honey complains, throwing the ball for Daichi to catch. The eager boy runs off to get it, and Honey sighs. "Everyone else said they were too busy."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haruhi looks so nice in her uniform that Tamaki upgrades her to an official member. And she gets clients two days in a row so easily! She really is the natural type. It's the second day, and Daichi is keeping a close eye on Haruhi since Tamaki warned them all. Apparently the other day, Haruhi's school things had ended up in the fountain, and there was certainly no way she had dropped them out of the window.
"Oh really, that must have been terrible," Ayanokoji says. She's Haruhi's current client, and not one that many of the hosts like. "I can't imagine what I'd do if my bag fell into the pond. And you actually made Tamaki search that dirty old pond with you. How astonishing. You do realize he's a blue blood, not a commoner, right? The only reason he's paying attention to you is because he's trying to turn you into a gentleman. Don't start thinking he cares about you just because he's doting on you."
"Now I understand," says Haruhi. "You're jealous of me."
"No, Haruhi, leave me alone! Somebody, help!"
It happens in a split-second. Ayanokoji pulls the table down onto herself. Daichi springs up, running over to the two of them and picking Haruhi up easily onto her feet. He pushes her behind him, fixing Ayanokoji with a snarl and a harsh glare.
"He just attacked me! Someone, do something! Teach this commoner a lesson!"
But no one listens. The twins come over and pour a pitcher of water over the girl while Daichi still keeps a firm hold on Haruhi's arm.
"Why did you do that?" the princess asks. Tamaki comes strutting over. "Do something, Tamaki. Haruhi just assaulted me."
"I'm disappointed in you," says the king. He helps Ayanokoji to stand. "You threw his bag into the pond, didn't you?
"You don't know that. Do you have any proof that I did?"
"You know, you're a beautiful girl," Tamaki says. "But you aren't classy enough to be our guest, dear. If there's one thing I know, Haruhi is not that kind of a man."
"But why, Tamaki? You idiot!" Ayanokoji storms way, leaving a great mess to clean up.
Kyoya walks over to Daichi, hooking a finger under his collar, and finally the younger lets go of Haruhi and stops his noise. Again he pats Daichi, who hums in response.
"You're lucky Daichi saved your uniform," Tamaki says to Haruhi. "Otherwise your quota would be raised to one thousand!"
