《Call Of Death》Chapter 84 : The Confession

Back at the abandoned building, Officer Devius Wayne Chad went to help Harry lean on the wall when he finally regained his consciousness. Turned out, the special bullet had sleeping serum in it so it made Harry faint to look like it was because he lose blood from being shot. While Ju Jin Su was kneeling on the floor, staring at nothing.
Ju Jin Su he felt an avalanche of guilt inside his heart. He couldn't forget the look that Red gave him the moment he realized that it was him who shot Red. The words he uttered saying that he never loaded his gun with real bullets. Knowing that it was him who did trust Red even if he kept saying that he does. He couldn't accept the fact that he used the gun that Red gifted him to shot the man.
"Detective Parker, are you alright?" Devius asked.
Ju Jin Su shook his head. "I shot him, officer. I betrayed him. I disappointed Hyeol." He muttered.
"But I should thank you for saving our lives." Devius said, trying to make him feel better.
Ju Jin Su shook his head again "I saved no one, instead I hurt the only person who I should really have protected." He mumbled, guilt is visible in his voice.
"What do you mean?" Officer Chad wrinkled his forehead.
Ju Jin Su looked at him and sighed deeply. "I shouldn't have shot him. I know he was never gonna hurt you and Detective Lee but I was a fool and didn't trust him much. He never planted a bomb because the Red button was a toy. He never loaded his gun with real bullets, firing it wouldn't kill nor heart anyone." A drop of tear escaped from his eyes and he immediately lowered his head.
"Detective Parker..."
"He only needed me to trust him, I knew it. He was never gonna hurt you nor anyone but how can I be such a jerk and lose my trust? I deserved the bullet I fired at him." He said in a very desperate voice.
"I don't understand. What do you mean he was never gonna hurt anyone? He already killed several people because of the foolish reasons he gave me." Officer Devius Chad asked in confusion.
Ju Jin Su shook his head and started sobbing. Devius immediately went to console him but it was no used. Ju Jin Su couldn't stop sobbing as he shook his head harshly. He clutched his fists very tight that his knuckles turned white. Devius couldn't understand what's happening.
"It wasn't him... It wasn't him, Officer Chad... It wasn't Hyeol..." He repeatedly said while shaking his head.
Officer Chad looked at him with a lot of confusion. He knew he heard Red confessed to all the crimes he had committed. But now, Ju Jin Su was telling him that Red harmed no one. That he didn't kill anyone. That he would never hurt anyone. Everything just don't feel understandable. Nothing is making a sense for him. There's no point.
"I don't understand, Detective Parker. I understand nothing at all." He said, feeling like his head is going to explode.
"It was me, Devius... I had always been me..."
"W-What?"

"I...I did it." Ju Jin Su mumbled. "I killed those people. I did it all. I am the one who took those bastards lives because they deserves to die."
Devius furrowed his brows. "What are you talked to about?"
"Hyeol didn't do anything. Yes, he hurt them but he always left them alive. I am the one who ended their lives and Hyeol knows that. He just wanted to claim it everything in order to save me but what did I repay him for? I fucking shoot him!" He grabbed his hair and sobbed.
"W-What? I'm very confused, Detective Parker. What are you indulging?" Officer Chad couldn't believe what he just heard. "You killed those people? Are you saying that you are the Killer Caller?"
"Yes." Ju Jin Su nodded, tears in his eyes.
"But, how is that possible? How could you do that? How did you do it when you're often at the headquarters?" Devius questioned consecutively.
"I wasn't always there. I often had an outside mission and I used those chance to take my plan into action." He explained but Devius couldn't understand it still.
"Then what about the killer's trophy? If you're really the culprit, where do you keep it?"
"Hyeol has some of the Killer's Trophy, I don't have it but we do keep it at the headquarters' basement since it hasn't been visited. It wasn't being used anymore, so I thought it would be safe there." Ju Jin Su responded.
"WHAT!? You really chose to hide it at your headquarters? Detective Parker, I don't know what to say. I can't believe what you are telling me at this moment. You even hide the evidences of your crimes at your own headquarters. Don't you think it's very dangerous?"
"Yeah, why not? The most dangerous is sometimes also the safest, Officer Chad." Ju Jin Su chuckled at his own words.
"Well...you have a point but did you say 'some'? Where are the rest then? Where did you hide them?" He questioned.
This time, Ju Jin Su stood up and sighed before speaking. "I hid it at Detective Lee's house." He confessed.
"Huh!? W-What!? At Cai's house? Are you insane!?" He repeated in disbelief.
Ju Jin Su nodded. "Yes. I am an expert with all kind of locks so it's not hard for me to open his door especially because it wasn't new anymore. Also, I hid a camera which he found out later on." He scratched the back of his head as he told him those.
"Detective Parker, aren't you just saying these things to save Red? Are you taking all the blame to save him?" Devius asked suspiciously.
"No, I'm telling you the truth. I did it all. I did everything, it's not Hyeol who killed those people, it was me!"
"What about when you lead us to the witness, the guy who knows where the culprit was. Why would you lead us to someone who will turn you in? If you're really the killer caller, why would you lead us to someone who will be an obstacle to your plans?"
"I didn't lead you to someone who will turn me in, I lead you to someone who will give you a clue about who the killer is. Also, Hyeol asked me to take Cameron to that person because he might remember him." He corrected the officer.

"I still don't understand and I can't just believe it. The trophy being taken from the victims where all colored in red, how do you explain that?"
"Hyeol already told you the reason, Officer Chad. It's because red is the color of the blood." He answered.
"What? You're really confusing me, Detective Parker. All you're saying doesn't answer my questions." Officer Chad sighed and massaged his head that is slowly starting to ache.
"I'm saying that, I and Hyeol chose to take everything red from them because it is the color of blood. It's a clue because Hyeol!s name is Lee Yuhyeol and it means blood. But for me, if they took blood then they should also repay it with blood. I killed them and took something that is red from those animals as a representation of justice." He explained in a long litany.
"But, why? If you knew everything about their crime, why kill them instead of turning them in? You're a detective, you're a man of the law!"
Ju Jin Su chuckled and then he looked straight into Devius' eyes. "Because justice is trash and it work only to those who have money, officer. Justice doesn't work with poor people. Justice is baised."
"And you think what you did is justifiable, Detective Parker? You think but killing those people, you gave justice to their victims?" Officer Chad asked in a voice full of disappointment.
Ju Jin Su smiled. "No, officer but I think I did better than the others who relies on orders from above. If I can't put them behind bars, I'll send them straight to hell." He stated.
Devius couldn't believe that a person like Detective Kairo Sedis Parler or now, Ju Jin Su could do such things. In his mind, he has some doubt whether the guy is being honest with him or if he is just trying to protect Red out of guilt and love. He knew Red is important to the detective so he couldn't just believe everything he heard. In a short time he got to spend with Kairo, he knee that this man isn't the person he is looking at right now.
'Or maybe I spent time with Detective Parker and not Ju Jin Su...' He sighed.
He doesn't understand Detective Parker. But also, something inside him is already questioning himself. What if he's telling the truth and Red didn't do anything? Then his eyes fell at the gun lying on the ground. It was the gun that Red pointed at them earlier. He slowly approached it and bent down to pick it up. Devius checked the magazine and his eyes widen when he saw it.
"It was empty. He wasn't really going to shoot us?" He mumbled under his breath as he slowly turned to Ju Jin Su's direction. "Did you know that the gun has no bullet in it?" He asked.
"I did. Just like Hyeol said, he never loaded his gun with real bullets, he just carry it but never put any bullet inside maybe just the one he used to shot Chief Lee." He smiled as if he was reminiscing a memory he had with the subject, his heart aching. "He only wanted me to trust him yet I shot him with the gun he gave me."
"Then, are you really telling the truth about the serial murder that has been happening? Did you really killed those people? Are you really the killer caller, Detective Parker? I need you to tell me the truth because I don't know what to believe anymore." Officer Chad asked. He wanted to confirm it and Ju Jin Su confessed with a nod.
Devius let go of the gun and leaned on the wall. He doesn't want to believe it because he looked up to Kairo too. Finding out that he was the real culprit behind the killer caller murder case made him feel so bad. On the other hand, Harry was clutching his fists as he listened to what the youngsters are talking. For him, there is no one to blame but himself. If he just arrived earlier, he must have had saved Lee Han Se — Lee Yuhyeol won't have to take revenge and Lee Jin Hong must have had a great life beyond what he had before.
The guilt and regret are building up inside him rapidly. He is the reason why these kids had to hurt each other. He is the reason why Yuhyeol despise Jin Hong for a very long time. If he had only been man enough to face everything, something might have changed. Too many thoughts in his mind is making him lose his sanity.
"I'm the one to blame, not you—not Lee Yuhyeol and certainly not my son." He mustered as he pick up the gun that Ju Jin Su used earlier.
"Harry, what are you doing?" Devius felt his heart skipped a beat when he saw the elder holding the gun loaded with real bullets.
"I should have done something. Maybe it didn't have to come to this. I shouldn't have run, kid." Harry shook his head and the sound of guilt and regret was visible in his voice.
Ju Jin Su looked at him, worried. "Chief Lee, don't do what you're thinking. It's not the solution. Please don't make me regret even more." He sounded pleading.
Harry looked at them and smiled bitterly. "I don't have any purpose anymore, kid. I am the reason why my son had to suffer. I shouldn't have given him Lee Han Se's name. I shouldn't have let him live as someone else."
"It's over, Harry. Please! It's already over. Chief Simon and the other officers are on their way here, please!" Devius begged but Harry only smiled.
With that, a loud bang was heard. Harry fell on the ground while Ju Jin Su and Devius watched helplessly as he killed himself. Blood splattered to the wall. Devius' body was trembling and tears started streaming down his face like a river. Ju Jin Su just stood there, eyes wide open. He couldn't believe what he just saw. He had been killing people but the scene was just too much. He couldn't take it anymore. His vision begun to blur and before he could say anything, he fell unconscious to the ground.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
