《Call Of Death》Chapter 81 : Revelations

Detective Lee's head was throbbing and his vision was starting to spin get blurry. Everything that he heard was just too much for him to digest. All his life, the possibility that the memories he had weren't really his. It was someone else's memories. If that's the truth, if Red was really telling the truth, that would only mean that his whole existence was a lie. He doesn't have his own memories, he doesn't have his own identity. He wasn't who he thought he was.
'No! No! No!' He couldn't accept it. He doesn't want to accept it.
"You're lying to confused me, Red! I refuse to believe you." Cameron yelled but Red's burning eyes were looking straightly at him.
"Really? You still doesn't want to accept it? Crimson, you killed my brother. You killed Lee Han Se! He sacrificed his life for you, he died for your fucking sake! HOW CAN YOU NOT REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT HIM!? WHY!?" Red painfully shouted with tears in his eyes.
Detective Lee shook his head. "NO! I am not Lee Han Se! If that kid saved me, if those were really not my memories, why? Why did I believe it all my life? Why did I live as Lee Han Se? If I wasn't really me, then who the hell am I? WHO AM I!?" He shouted back, holding his throbbing head.
Red took a step forward, his gun was aimed at Cameron's direction. "I told you... You are Lee Jin Hong."
"No..."
"Do you remember the bloody handkerchief I sent you?" Red asked, Cameron looked at him in confusion.
"What about that?"
"It was yours. Your name Lee Jin Hong is weaved in it. Here..." He threw a box at the detective's direction. "Pick them up."
"What is that?"
"Just pick it up and see for yourself." Red stated.
Cameron hesitated for a while. He doesn't want to see nor does he would like to look of what is inside. He looked at Red and swallowed hard as he slowly approached the thing. He hesitantly picked the box up.
"Look inside." He heard Red speak.
Detective Lee slowly opened the box and inside were two other handkerchiefs. He took them out without taking the gun off of Red's direction. The two handkerchiefs has two different names weaved in them.
"Lee Yuhyeol... Lee Han Se..." He read.
A memory came back in Cameron's head. He was weaving the name Lee Han Se on a piece of cloth—the handkerchief. It was the one whom he remembered before. He was wearing a name but it wasn't his. He was weaving the name Lee Han Se but it wasn't his name. It was someone else's.
On the other hand, Officer Chad's mouth was left agape. He also couldn't believe everything that he heard. Was it really true? Did Detective Lee, the man he considered as his partner, stole someone's identity? It's confusing. He wanted to hear an answer but he knows that he won't be able to at this time. He felt really annoyed but at the same time, he's also worried about Cameron. He couldn't believe that the detective could do such thing.
"What the hell is he saying?" He whispered to himself.
"I know that you're confused but everything that you heard is the whole truth." Ju Jin Su spoke.
"I don't understand."
"Detective Lee isn't Lee Han Se, he's real name is Lee Jin Hong. Crimson or whom you've known as Cameron took the identity of the real Lee Han Se, Hyeol's brother."

"This is crazy." Devius shook his head.
"It's hard to believe but there's no reason to lie. I am telling you the truth. You may not believe it and I won't force you to. But, officer, Hyeol has his reason in everything he did. He just wanted to get what is rightfully his and his brother's. I helped him because I don't want him to stay alone forever and if I have to sacrifice my life for him, I am more willing to do so." Ju Jin Su stated as he slowly removed the mask covering his face.
"Y-You! It's you..."
When his identity was finally revealed, Officer Chad's eyes widen and his jaw almost dropped to the floor. The situation became more and more complicated and confusing. He wasn't in Detective Lee's position but he was as confused as he is. Everything that Officer Chad was finding out, it was just unbelievable. It's too much. He closed his eyes and shook his head slightly, hoping that he was just imagining things but when he opened his eyes again, he confirmed that he was seeing the truth. It wasn't just an imagination. He was seeing the person he least expected to see just in front of him.
"You're not mistaken, Office Chad. It's really me." Ju Jin Su slowly walked towards him.
"D-Detective Kairo Sedis Parker, why? H-How?" That was all he could utter.
"I'm sorry if you have to be involved in this."
"Don't tell me your real name isn't what it is either?"
Detective Parker smiled and sighed. "Kairo Sedis Parker is my English name, it's my real name. But my korean legal name is Ju Jin Su. Also, I'm a real detective by profession, I entered the agency in order to watch and observe Lee Jin Hong. I helped Hyeol to create this plan of taking revenge against Detective Lee." He explained.
"I-I don't know if I understand you, Detective Parker. Am I fucking dreaming? Is this a goddamn nightmare? Because if it is, then fucking wake me up! My head hurts so damn bad already..." He whisper shouted.
"It's not a dream, officer. This is reality. Sometimes those people we trust, are the ones who are keeping secrets from us." Ju Jin Su stated.
"Are you involved in those killings too? Did you kill the gunman from the basement incident? Is that why you have Cai's handkerchief?" Devius asked but inside him, he wanted Kairo to deny it all. He wanted the detective to say that he wasn't involved in anything but the expression in Ju Jin Su's eyes said it all. "You're supposed to catch criminals but you became one of them."
"I didn't kill anyone, Devius, because that guy who shot you... was me." He confessed.
Devius was left dumbfounded. He doesn't want to accept what he heard. All he could do was shook his head and refuse to believe what he just heard. He couldn't believe that the man in front of him could do such thing. He saw Detective Parker as someone admirable. Someone who anyone can idolize.
Outside the room, Detective Lee, was looking at Red. He still couldn't believe it. He couldn't remember him being the person that Red was talking about. If everything he believed were false and the truth was not even close to it, can he accept it? Can he accept the fact that he isn't the person he thought he was?
"You chose to forget your memories completely while choosing to steal my brother's. You left us both to die while my brother and I did our best to let you live. Even if he was calling out for you, you didn't look back. The only thing that Lee Han Se wanted was for the three of us to escape our nightmares. He just wanted for us to have a happy family. I tried my best to get him out of that place but he refused to go. He asked me to leave him to die but I couldn't. I watched as my only family, my brother took his last breath in my arms." All the pain from that day came back to Red. It was like his heart was being torn apart, piece by piece, slowly.

The memory of Lee Han Se, his brother, gave him both pain and happiness. The days they spent together playing, dreaming and hoping. He wanted to turn back the time and if he could, he would everything just so they wouldn't meet Cameron. He would give everything to avoid encountering Lee Jin Hong. He thought maybe if they haven't met the detective, the real Lee Han Se might still be alive.
A memory came flashing in his mind. It was the time were he and Lee Han Se was sitting by the window of the orphanage after being bullied by the staffs. He was so sad that time and hopeless.
"Han Se, do you think we can ever get out of this place?" Red asked.
The real Lee Han Se turned to look at him with a smile. "I believe so, Red. There's always a rainbow after the rain, like they said."
"What if that rainbow doesn't exist for us?"
"It will, Red. It will." Lee Han Se ruffled his hair.
Red smiled and leaned on the wall. "Can I ask you something?"
"Hmm?"
"Why did you call me Red?"
Lee Han Se went silent for a while before speaking. "Red is the color of blood and your name Yuhyeol, it translates to the word blood in korean."
"Is that it?"
"No." He shook his head. "Because I am the heart and you're the blood. Heart pumps out blood to our veins. Without the blood and the heart, a person cannot live. I called you Red because I cannot live without you. Heart and blood should always be together to keep a human living." Lee Han Se explained in a long litany.
Red smiled and hugged his brother. "Then let's stay forever, hyung. You're not supposed to live without me and I'm never going to live without you."
Those memories made Red's heart flatter but the next one made his heart sink. It was the day where he found Lee Han Se lying one the floor, a piece of wood was lying on top of him. His skin were burnt.
"HAN SE!"
"R-Red..."
"Hyung... Han Se... Please hang in there, they're coming here."
"Red... I'm tired..."
"Please, please. Don't leave me alone, you promised, hyung!" Red started crying.
Lee Han Se slowly lifted his hand to touch the younger's face. "Y-You have to survive without me. T-Take of Crimson for me... T-Take of Lee Jin Hong..."
"Hyung! Han Se! I don't want to, you take care of him. Take care of us. You can't leave me. The heart and the blood must stay together, remember?"
Lee Han Se smiled and looked Lee Jin Hong's direction. "J-Jin Hong..." He weakly called.
Red held his brother's hand and look over at Lee Jin Hong's direction.
"Jin Hong..." Red called but he never looked back.
He saw as he held the elder detective's hand and walked away without looking back at them. When he turned to look at his brother again, Lee Han Se smiled and looked at him. When his grip became weaker and his eyes slowly closed, Red knew what was happening. He called for Lee Han Se but his brother already went to heaven. He watched as Lee Han Se took his last breath while holding his hand.
"You stole my brother's life away from me, Lee Jin Hong! You stole my only hope! We are supposed to be in your shoes, you fucker! I am supposed be the one enjoying my life and not hiding like a goddamn monster! Han Se-hyung deserves to live more than an ungrateful monster like you!" Tears avalanche from Red's eyes as he uttered those words.
There was anger in his eyes but the utter sadness was very visible. The pain and regret covered his whole aura. He tried to look tough but he was really weak when it comes to his past. The burnt marks on his body only reflects the misery and pain he had suffered because of wanting to save the person he once cherished the most in his life. The person who chose to sacrifice everything for the man standing in front of him right at this moment. The person who claimed to have forgotten everything. The person who stole his life.
He felt so angry but the most annoying thing was, even if this person caused him a lot of pain, he knows in his heart that he still cares for him. Even if Lee Han Se died because of him, somewhere in his heart, he still scares. His brother died but Lee Jin Hong lived. He was mad. He despised him but Lee Jin Hong is only person who reminds him of his late brother.
Cameron felt his head hurting. Slowly, little by little, pieces of his memories came flashing in his eyes. The days he spent on that basement. The first time he saw Lee Han Se and Lee Yuhyeol. The first words they said to each other. The promises they made of being brothers forever. The promises that they will get out of their nightmarish lives and become a happy family. The day where they laughed and played like there was no tomorrow. And the most painful one, the day where the fire broke out. It was the same memories he remembers before but now, the two kids faces were visible. He could see them. He saw the younger version of the real Lee Han Se at Red.
"Crimson, I didn't asked you save us nor come back to us back then. I only wanted you to look back at us even just a glimpse of second. I only wanted you to smile at us one last time before my brother died. He saved you from hell but he didn't know that you're the devil himself." Anger and pain echoed from the guy's voice while tears are streaming down his face.
Detective Lee shook his head. The guilt, regret and confusion were all mixing up inside his mind. He was never as fragile as before than now. All the informations he found out at this moment and all the memories coming back were just too much that he couldn't handle it. He felt like he's gonna go crazy from all the things. Now that everything was clear, he was starting to despise himself too. He couldn't believe that he did that to someone who chose to die for him. He couldn't believe that he could steal someone's identity and forget everything about it. He had been living as Lee Han Se, thinking that he was miserable when the truth is he was the reason why someone has live his life like a monster hiding from the outside.
"I-I'm sorry, Red. I couldn't—"
He wasn't able to continue what he's going to say because a flash of memory came flashing inside his mind again. He remembered the day Lee Han Se gave him the name Lee Jin Hong and the codename Crimson. He remembered when they promised each other of never leaving one behind until the day that Lee Han Se saved him from the fire. Everything, he remembered everything now. But only one word is repeating multiple times inside his head.
"Jin Hong..."
"Jin Hong..."
"Jin Hong..."
He heard Red's voice calling out his name. The pleading, scared, helpless tone, that Red has in his voice while uttering the name of the person he thought would care for him among anyone else. Detective Lee heard his calls but he was too scared to even look back at the place where we was held captive for so many years. He didn't even pay a glimpse even if he heard Red calling for him while the basement was burning.
Detective Lee swallowed hard multiple times as all the memories sank in. He was a monster. He stole the life of the person who saved him. He stole the life of the person who sacrificed himself for him. He was full of regret but it's too late now. He could never turn back the time.
"I... remember it now. I remember everything now. I-I'm sorry, Red." He whispered.
Red chuckled. "Oh. You remember it now. You're sorry? Are you? After taking everything from me, do you even feel sorry at all?" There's sarcasm in his voice.
"I—"
"I don't care if you're sincere or not but you know what, I would be happy to make suffer the pain I've been through. But I'll make it a lot worst."
"What do you mean?" Detective Lee felt his heart sinking just by looking at Red's eyes.
"You took someone from me, isn't it just fair if I do the same for you?"
"What do you mean, Red?" Cameron asked.
Red went silent and then slowly, a crazy smirk curved on his lips. Detective Lee furrowed his brows as he clenched his fists. Worried that Red might be planning something bad against his partner whom he hasn't found yet.

I marked the story as having Gore, Sexual Content, and Traumatising content because it does contain a bit of all three, though not what I believe is a significant amount. Just wanted to be safe. It does contain a whole lot of profanity, though. That one is very much deserved. A young woman tells him he has died, that she is some kind of god who likes videogames and he will be reborn in an RPG-esque world so she and her fellow god-friends can watch him for entertainment.Unfortunately, the goddess forgot to give Paul most of the obligatory, obvious cheat-abilities to make him rush to power in easy mode. Paul embraces his new life full of clichés, perverts, magic, loot and action. And animal girls.18+ !CONTAINS GRAPHIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL CONTENT! (Actual sex is still hard to find, but you will get it. Eventually. Sporadically.) =================Author's note:So, this is my very first novel. It will be poorly written, has a huge info-dump disguised as a first chapter (to be rewritten. At some point in the future. I guess.), and may or may not offend everyone for different reasons. Perhaps you will just find it boring, which would be even worse. The description turned out a bit comedic, but the story isn't overly so.I have a rough idea of where this will be going, but expect some bumps on the road, as well as logic holes, flat characters and a lot of borderline copyright infringements from all the ideas I got reading other works. And did I mention I'm not a native speaker? No? Well, expect some embarrassing grammar and wording choices. The main character is a more or less normal guy, without high morals, martial arts skills or even a desirable goal in life. There is mature content, in terms of violence and sexual content. It won't become a full-blown erotic novel, and it may or may not be your cup of tea when it comes to the type of content.Critics welcome.
