《Call Of Death》Chapter 80 : Identity

Devius was left dumbfounded after hearing Cameron say Gong Seuk Tae's name. He doesn't know if he's getting it right or not. But on the way he understands it, it seemed like Cameron was telling that Gong Seuk Tae and Red are one same person.
On the other hand, Cameron's head couldn't process what he was seeing. The kid whom he almost treated as a little brother was standing right in front of him, telling him that he wasn't the one he knew he was.
"I don't understand..."
"You heard it right, Detective. I'm not Gong Seuk Tae. I am the brother of the real person behind your identity. My name is Lee Yuhyeol and Lee Han Se is my brother. I am the brother of the person who you have been claiming to be." Those words from Red confused Detective Lee even more.
"I don't understand... I don't understand anything at all." The detective uttered.
"You don't understand or you're just refusing to understand? That's alright then, I'll let you understand." Red stated and began removing the long coat he was wearing.
"What are you doing?" Cameron furrowed his brows.
"Just watch and shut up." Red smirked.
As he continued undressing himself, all the burnt marks on his body was slowly getting revealed. Detective Lee stared at him in awe and disbelief. He slowly shook his head as he back out, feeling weak. He doesn't understand what is happening. He could see all the burnt marks on the latter's body. A thought came to his mind but when he looked at Red's appearance, he's a lot younger than him. So, it can't be. He couldn't be that kid from his memories. But, there's also another boy there aside from them...
"You..." Detective Lee tried to utter a word but that's the only thing that came out of his mouth. "Could it be..."
"Do you see me, Detective? Do you see these fucking marks on my body? I look like a monster, don't I?" Red smirked but the pain was visible in his eyes.
Detective Lee felt a pain in his head. "What the hell is happening? Who the hell are you?" He felt very confused now.
"I got this from that fire. I got this because I chose to save the person whom I treated as my best friend, my brother, my life long confidant after he chose to save someone who couldn't even take a single glance at him even if he called his name multiple times!" Red yelled as tears begun to flow from his eyes that were still blazing with anger and pain.

Detective Lee looked at him with wide eyes. "You... You...are that other boy?" Detective Lee asked in an almost whisper voice, he couldn't believe it.
"Now, you remember, huh? You're right, I'm that stupid boy's brother. I'm that stupid boy who chose to sick help and let my beloved brother accompany you. I was so stupid that I left my brother to try and save you but you know what? I'm also that boy who just didn't lost his friend and brother but also lost his whole goddamn identity because the person whom my brother thought who'd love me, he stole my brother's identity and lived with it as if nothing ever happened." Red said in a long painful, linaty.
"You're his brother... You're that little..."
"Yes! I am Red, I am Lee Yuhyeol. I am Lee Han Se's brother and we were happy before you came, detective."
After hearing those, Detective Lee felt like his whole body became weak. He almost fell to the ground but luckily, he managed to hold and lean his hand against the wall. Little by little, he tried to connect everything. Red's familiar voice, Gong Seuk Tae's familiar presence, his dreams. The last victim named Lee Jin Hong. All of those were hints that Red was giving to him. It's slowly starting to make sense. But one question remained in his head.
"If I'm not Lee Han Se, then who am I?" He asked himself as he shook his head.
"Hahaha!" Red laughed making the detective looked at him. He slowly walked towards Detective Lee. "Who are you? I'll tell you. You're name...is Lee Jin Hong. It means Crimson. My brother gave that name to you! That's the name that we used call you—Crimson and I got the name Red after you—Han Se gave me the name Yuhyeol which translates to Red in english." He explained while playing with the gun in his hand as he step little by little towards Detective Lee.
He could feel his body trembling. Everything that he heard, he couldn't believe it. He doesn't understand how it happened that his own identity wasn't really his. And this man in front of him, whom he met as the kid Gong Seuk Tae, was the brother of the real Lee Han Se—Lee Yuhyeol—Red.
But now, he understand why he's always there every time that a crime would happen. Now, he knew why the Gong Seuk Tae knew the killer's appearance—because he wasn't a witness but the killer himself.

"If you still couldn't remember, then I'll tell you further." Detective Lee looked at Red when he spoke again. "I, Lee Yuhyeol together with my brother Lee Han Se, we came from this orphanage. We met you when we sneaked out of this damn orphanage and hid in that basement where you are being held captive.
We thought we had the same misery and Han Se thought we can be friends and accompany each other. We create a planned on sneaking you out when that man wasn't around yet we couldn't find a way to do so. And then a fired started and Han Se saw that opportunity to take you out finally. I was so scared but when I saw that my brother was so eager to save you, I tried to be strong for him—and for you. I did my best so you and Han Se won't get hurt. I wanted him to leave first and then we can save you after getting some help but he refused to leave you behind.
Even if I'm against leaving you and Han Se alone in the fire, I did it because he asked me to and I wanted to save you both. Fortunately, I managed to get someone to call for the police but little did I know that at that very moment, I failed to save my brother. When I came back, he was already devoured by the monstrous fire but you know what hurts the most? You know what kept me up every night? Do you know what brings me all the nightmares? It's the fact that I saw him die. We was still alive when I got to the basement. His skin was badly burnt but you know what was his last words?"
Cameron held his head as it started to painfully throb hard. "Stop... Stop talking!"
"It's your name. It's your fucking name! He endlessly called for you, many, many times. He repeatedly called your name. He didn't asked you to save him. All he wanted was for you to just give him a glance but no matter how hard he called for your name, you didn't give him a single glance. You didn't dare to look at him." Now, Red was crying and so is Detective Lee.
"No... That's not true!"
"Yes, it is, Crimson! I saw you walk away from us with that detective! You didn't even glance at my dying brother. You ungrateful, bastard!" Red shouted.
The pain, feeling of betrayal and suffering was visible on Red's voice that it made Detective Lee's heart to ache. If everything he was hearing were true, then he's a very evil man. He took the identity of the person who saved his life. He killed the only person who became his friend and hero. Nor did he gave him one final glance. If everyone was true, then he never really knew who he was.
"My brother told you everything. He was so trusting of you. His life, his suffering. This orphanage, even if you haven't been here, you knew that we were being abused in this place because he told you everything! We treated you as our own family. Han Se treated you as his best friend and his soulmate but you betrayed him! You left him to die, Crimson! You left him to die and you didn't even glanced at him!"
"What do you mean I haven't been in this orphanage? I came from here, Red." Detective Lee asked in confusion because in his memory, he knew that he was in this orphanage after being rescued from the fire.
Red chuckled. "Yes, you were brought it after the fire but before that, you were never here, Crimson. Yet you knew something more because he told you stories about this hellish place. Han Se told you everything. Han Se told you that we were being abused here in every way." Red responded with tears in his eyes.
"But... How? How did it happen? Why can't I remember? I was abused—"
"Really? You're so funny. You even owned his memories now, huh? Then, tell me. In your memory, do you also remember that he wanted to be a detective so he could get out of this place?" There's sarcasm in Red's voice but the other emotions are stronger and more visible.
When Detective Lee heard that, he backed away. All the memories in his head we're not his. It's the real Lee Han Se's memories. If so, then what is real in his life? Does this mean, he lost himself and stole other's identity? If that's true, he's been living in a life full of lies. His existence was a lie that he, himself, had created.
'What the hell us real about me? Who am I? What is my real identity?'

Tironia
Reincarnated on the world of Tironia, I find myself naked and alone. Apart from the fact that I've been linked with a less than helpful companion, through my own doing no less. All I want is a kick-ass name and some super-sweet magic. "Is that too much to ask for?" Apparently so. All I got, was a schizophrenic sidekick and a set of bad jokes. "Is it time to start shitting my pants yet?" Note: If you enjoy my first novel, please leave a rating or a comment. Constructive criticism is also appreciated. As of now Tironia is complete. I need to edit the chapters however as there are many, many mistakes. Once that's complete, I will begin work on Erins next adventure: Dungeon Igo. Current Chapter Rewritten: 1

Queer Tales From A Street Nominally Associated With Your Reality
The street is not from your world, and yet it's attached, clinging like a shadowy limpet to the edge of your London, your city skyline stabbing into it from above. Or well that's what we tell ourselves, no one who lives here really knows. We are after all just regular folk displaced from our original realities. Just a bunch of folks with queer tales from a street nominally associated with your reality. What to expect: - A series of interlinked short stories gradually unpacking the lives, complications and mysteries associated with those who live in the street - A weird pseudo-British setting where physics works inconsistently, and houses move position regularly - Stories filled with LGBTQ+ characters, and in particular ones on the trans/nonbinary spectrum - Potentially iffy grammar, I'm new to publishing my work online, so whilst I am checking things before posting it’s a near certainty that some things will slip through - A schedule of one chapter every two weeks.
