《Call Of Death》Chapter 76 : He Came

Officer Devius Wayne Chad could see the obvious concern in Ju Jin Su's voice and eyes. Even if the man's face is covered and only his ryes could be seen, it showed every feeling he had. When Devius turned to look back at Red again, the reaction in his eyes was now different. The sadness even the anger that had been reflecting in Red's eyes earlier was gone, it completely vanished like it was never there. He could see no visible emotion there. It's as if it was an endless void.
'What is your connection with Cai, Red? Why are your emotions like that when it comes to him?'
Officer Chad can't deny the fact that he felt relieved upon hearing that Cameron was there to save him but he also couldn't deny the fact that he felt worried about Detective Lee's presence. He doesn't know what is his connection towards Red nor does he know why everything is happening but he is sure there's something he wouldn't wanna know.
He already heard everything, all the reason why Red killed his victim, which still find unreasonable and unjustifiable. He couldn't do anything about that anymore because people are already dead. Surely, they did something wrong and he agree that they have to be punished but if Cameron was one of Red's targets, there must be something that's being hid from him.
In a few months that he spent time with the detective, he know how just he is. He know how Cameron hates injustice and crime. That alone could convince him that Detective Lee didn't do anything wrong. Devius couldn't figure out what Detective Lee must have done to be included in Red's list but he will never like the fact that he's here.
"Hyeol, what should we do? He really came." Ju Jin Su asked, sounding worried.
"He did. He came, Jin Su." Red's voice has different emotions but sadness, pain and sarcasm was the most visible ones.
Red turned off the dim light inside the room and went to look outside the window. It was dark but he could see the detective's car because of the light. He took out a knife that was hidden in his shoes and even though the light was off, Devius saw it shimmer. His heart begun to pound hard from nervousness and fear for his partner.
"What's your plan, then? Should we leave before he gets here?" Ju Jin Su was about to make a move but Red stopped him.
"No, just stay here with the officer. I'll handle this."
"What?" Ju Jin Su asked in disbelief.
"You heard me."
"What are you planning? Don't you dare hurt him." He threatened but sounded pleading, Red only chuckled.
Red turned to face Devius'direction.

"You know what, I envy you, officer. I didn't really expect that he'd come for you even if he just knew you for over a month." In the dark, a tear came out of Red's eyes.
"If you envy me, I pity you."
Red chuckled. "Yeah, I am pitiful. You only sacrificed your life for him once and yet he's willing to die for you. While someone died for him and he doesn't even remember his name."
Ju Jin Su walked to his direction. "Hyeol, we have to leave here. He mustn't find us." He tried to convince the latter.
"I'm the one who called him here, I won't escape anymore, Jin Su." Red mumbled.
"Hyeol—"
"I'm tired of running and hiding, Jin Su-ya."
Ju Jin Su held Red's hand and repeated. "Please, let's get out of this place. I don't want you getting caught. In this condition, can you really face him?"
"I won't run anymore, Sed. If you want to leave, then leave but I'll stay here." Red's word were strong and determined.
"Hyeol..."
"I'm ready, Jin Su..."
"Hyeol, please." He pleaded but Red didn't say a word.
Instead, he walked towards the door and walked to the stairs. He held the knife tightly and headed down. Every step he takes, all the memories that made him determined, angry, in pain and sad came rushing like an avalanche. Meeting the detective gave a lot of emotions, mixed feelings. He mind is burning with the desire of revenge but his heart is filled with uncertainty and fear. Red was holding the knife tightly in his hand while a gun was hidden behind him.
The orphanage was a four storey building and there was no working elevator as it had been abandoned for a very long time ago. It took him some time before he finally got to his destination. When Red reached the first floor, he saw the light flashing from the detective's car.
"Maybe it's time for us to meet...my friend." He whispered and hid himself, waiting for the detective to get out of the car and walk in.
Back on the highest floor, Ju Jin Su clutched his hands tightly. He wanted to get Red out of the place and avoid getting caught by Detective Lee but he knew that the guy's mind has been made up. He is worried but all he could do was to accompany him and not leave him alone.
'I won't leave you, Hyeol. Even if I have to give up my life, I'll stay by your side.' He promised.
Ju Jin Su is scared for Red's safety. If he had choice, he would do everything—anything just to make sure that the guy was safe. Yes, he helped Red create this plan of revenge but now that everything was happening, he suddenly wanted to back out. He doesn't want to lose Red as he was the only one he had.

As for Devius, he kept trying to free himself from the chair he was tied to. Fortunately, he was trained to have good vision so even if the lights were off, he could still see in the dark. The rope was tied really tight that it's taking him some time to get himself freed but with determination, he could and he will.
"You don't have to try toi hard, officer. Don't worry, I'll free you later." He was taken aback by Ju Jin Su's words.
He looked at him confusedly. "What? What are you talking about? How can I free myself when you tied the rope so tight?"
"Tch! Don't fool me, officer. I know how hard you trained, I know your capability."
"I don't know what you're talking about." He denied but Ju Jin Su only chuckled because he heard the rope being undone.
"Officer, I won't lie to you. I'll free you later but for now, please just wait and stay here."
"Why should I believe you?"
"Hyeol had already made up his mind, there's no point of keeping you here. After he met with Detective Lee, you'll be free and I'll accompany him." Ju Jin Su explained further but Devius was still confused, he doesn't get anything.
"What do you mean? What's he planning to do" Officer Chad felt a little panicked.
"Are you worried that he'll hurt, Detective Lee?" Ju Jin Su giggled, shook his head and continued. "As if he can."
"What?" Devius furrowed his brows.
"Even if Hyeol wanted to, you couldn't. He could never."
"I don't understand what you're saying. What the hell are you talking about, Mr. Ju?" Officer Devius Chad wrinkled his forehead.
"I know it already came to your mind that Hyeol and Detective Lee must have a connection. Hyeol's anger needs to have a very deep reason. You're a very smart person, officer. That's why I know you already thought of that idea. To answer—no—to confirm it, yes. Hyeol and Detective Cameron Caiseus Lee are connected and he is Hyeol's weakness."
"Huh?"
"Hyeol had been given multiple chances before but he didn't choose to hurt him. Maybe Hyeol was tough but Detective Lee was his only weakness he couldn't get rid of." Ju Jin Su's voice couldn't hide the sound envy.
"I'm so confused."
"I've been with Hyeol for such a long time. Helped him create the perfect plan for revenge. I gave him shelter, warmth and even the love he's been longing for but I couldn't get inside his heart because he already has somebody in there. He built a wall to high that trapped someone inside but never let anyone from the outside." Ju Jin Su narrated as if all the memories he had with Red were flashing in front of his eyes.
Devius felt like he's trying to find a needle in a haystack. He couldn't understand why the man in the room with him was suddenly talking about the past. It's not like they're friends and Ju Jin Su was trying to share his story. He felt weird but he surely could feel the envy, sadness, pain and a little bit of regret in the latter's voice.
"Do you like Red?" Officer Chad asked out of consciousness.
But instead of responding, Ju Jin Su walked to the window and watched the detective's car. He tucked both his hands inside his pocket. A loud, deep sigh was heard.
"Do you know the feeling of being abandoned? The feeling of being left alone? Do you know how it feels to be helpless and hopeless at the same time?" Ju Jin Su questioned still looking out the window.
Officer Chad didn't answer because he doesn't know how it feels. He knew the feeling of lacking attention but he never felt abandoned. With Daena by his side, he never felt helpless nor hopeless.
"No."
Ju Jin Su turned to Officer Chad's direction. "If you don't know how it feels, then just be patient and Hyeol will tell you the story." He added.
"He'll tell me?"
"Yes, he'll tell you everything. Hyeol isn't a bad guy, he just needed compensation."
Devius was so confused that he could feel his head hurting. He wanted to try to escape from the chair he was bounded to but something in him wants to know what story does Ju Jin Su means. He wanted to know the real and whole reason behind everything. So he decided to just sit there in silence and wait for whatever is going to happen.
On the other hand, when Cameron parked the car, he didn't got out immediately. He tried his best to calm himself first. When he finally got the courage to hop out, he saw that the place was surrounded by utter darkness as it was only one in the morning.
The cold breeze is bringing chill into his spine. The orphanage looked rusty and old but it didn't changed a bit. It was still looking like that scary, nightmarish place he once lived in. All the memories came rushing to him, making his head hurt. He took a step forward after taking a deep breath. He clutched his hands while his palms were sweating. He was scared but he knew he couldn't let any second pass without him doing nothing to save the man he love.
'Hang in there, Chad. I'm coming.'
