《Call Of Death》Chapter 72 : The Story 2

After hearing what Ju Jin Su had said, Officer Devius Chad was left dumbfounded. He felt like he just found out one of the biggest mistake he had done his entire life. He didn't expect that a simple act he did out of concern and kindness could lead the child's life into danger. He didn't expect that his act could lead into something he least expected. He felt so guilty that he didn't notice how strange the kid's mom was.

"Let me tell you something, officer." Ju Jin Su started talking again. Officer Chad stayed silent and just listened. "Red wasn't born bad. He wasn't born a criminal. Someone made him what he is today but I can assure, he isn't as bad as you think. He will never hurt anyone who isn't part of the plan." He added.

"But taking other people's life is a serious a crime. It's in the law."

Ju Jin Su smiled under the mask. "We ended the life of those people who doesn't deserve to live. We killed those people who are only living to suffer in misery. We wanted to end the suffering and misery of those people, that's why we killed them." He stated in a long litany.

"Those reason aren't acceptable enough to take one's life, Mr. Ju. If Red really wanted to end those people's suffering, he could do something much better than just simply killing them." The officer argued.

"What? Taking those people who mistreated them to jail? Officer, law doesn't work like you expect it to."

"Then, can't he do anything rather than killing?"

"Officer, do you really think there are many things a person could do to save someone from any kind of misery? Is there any other lawful way so avenge the people who experienced in justice?" Ju Jin Su asked, the officer fell silent for a while.

He also doesn't know if there will always be a way to save someone from their miseries and injustice. Officer Chad doesn't know if he could really save someone from suffering if he was in the situation.

"But taking lives isn't justifiable, there's always a way..." Devius mumbled.

Ju Jin Su shook his head. "There's always someone the law favors, officer. The proof is that your detective could enjoy his life without feeling regretful while my friend is left to suffer under the shade of someone's name."

Devius doesn't understand what Ju Jin Su was talking about. He wanted to understand but no matter how much he tries, the words only enter his other ear and left on the other. He couldn't understand them at all.

On the other hand, while the two men were talking, someone was watching them. Unbeknownst to them, Red was standing still in the doorway and listening to them as they talk while both hands were clasped inside his hoodies' pocket.

"Officer, even the superheroes would take lives in order to save the world. You, the authorities will take lives if they have to. You can't always save someone and choose peace at the same time. You'll always have to make a choice because peace and war cannot coexist in this world. It's either you take someone's life to save one or let them live and make their victims suffer till they die." Ju Jin Su's words made sense but for Devius who is a police officer, he still believed that taking other's lives isn't acceptable.

He slowly shook his head, clenching his fist. "Red doesn't have the right to do that, those people, no matter how bad they were, they still deserved to live." Devius annoyingly exclaimed. "The moment he chose to had blood in his hands, that made him already a criminal. That made his actions unjustifiable. Everyone deserves to live, Mr. Ju." Officer Chad explained.

"Do they?" Devius and Ju Jin Su both looked at Red's direction when he spoke. "Do they really deserve to live, Officer?" He asked.

"Hyeol..."

Ju Jin Su called his name but Red didn't turn to look at him, instead he looked straight at officer Devius Chad. Red didn't wear a mask but his face was still covered with a cloth and the hood. Only his eyes were visible.

"Gina Kang, apart from starving and overworking her helpers, she did not even pay them when she was the caretaker at her sister's restaurant. No matter how much they beg, she wouldn't even bulged. Also, instead of giving wages to her employees she uses it to gamble." Red slowly walked towards the officer who was just staring at him. "But that’s not the worst thing she did, officer. Listen carefully, did you know that she pimps one of her young worker out for money? She also refused to pay one of her workers who beg her because his child is dying but what did she do? She ignored his plea causing the child to die without getting any help. Funny, does that kind of person deserves to live?" Red chuckled in a sarcastic yet angry way.

Ju Jin Su sighed and went to the corner to just listen to them while Officer Chad didn't say a single word and just stayed looking at Red. He wanted to argue but right at that moment, he wanted to listen more. He wanted to find out why Red did all those. Even if he thinks killing is never justifiable, he still wanted to listen.

"George Michael, that pervert is one of Gina Kang's client who abused and raped those poor girls. He also has a daughter but he didn't even think of her while he was enjoying his perverted acts and as he indulges in the body of a child almost the same age as his own." The anger in Red's voice was so visible that even Devius could feel it. "Mence David, he is a well-known professor at a prestigious university. Everyone adores and admires him for being an approachable and kind person but that was just a fake skin! Do you know what he does when his students fails they grades?" Red stopped for a while, leaned over so his burning eyes were the same level as Devius, then he continued. "He asked them for sex in exchange of their grades instead of just simply asking them to comply! He doesn't care whether the student was a boy or a girl, as long as he can satisfy his lust! That's how perverted he is." Red slammed his hands on the chair near him, making the officer jolt a little.

"But you still doesn't have the right to kill those people." Devius calmly stated.

Red smirked. "What? That I should leave everything to the authorities? Take note, officer, I take action after observing and investigating. I just don't kill them because I saw them. The authorities can't do that? Why can't they take action earlier than me if they really are reliable?"

"But—"

"Shut up and just listen!" Red yelled. "Sherril Henry, that bitch. She enjoyed to go to clubs. Hooking up with whoever she met at night and then forgetting everything after that. And then she got pregnant but instead of being thankful that a blessing came to her, she didn't even give it a second thought and aborted the poor thing before its heart is even developed. Can you believe it, huh? Even if someone offered her a marriage and a father for the child, she didn't accept it. Why? Because she doesn't like to get stuck with a child she didn't even plan to have!" Red shouted, his eyes are flaming with anger. Both hands are clutched tightly into each other.

"Red—"

"You wanna know more? I'll tell you more. Sara Chain and Jona Ingrid. Those two killed a child but they didn't even felt guilty about it. They enjoyed their lives as if they didn't push the little girl off that cliff. They laughed and party every single fucking day while the girl's family has been mourning for the lost of that innocent life. They would even keep that little girl's belongings as if it was a trophy. The poor thing asked for their help but they just laughed it out and watched as she fell to her death!" As Red was telling those stories, his eyes slowly started to get hot and wet. It's as if his heart was being torn just by remembering everything he had to witness.

"It's—"

"You can still say that they don't deserve to die, huh?"

"Red—"

"Also, that Mateo Jacker, I saw as he burried the little boy's body into that forest. He hit the boy with his car by accident and that could have been forgivable because it's an accident but choosing to burry the boy instead of taking him to the hospital wasn't. He killed the boy on purpose just because he was afraid to go to jail, so he sacrifice the boy's life for him. How pathetic!"

"But you don't have the right to take their lives just because they took someone else's life. You could just have reported it to the police and let them do their job of convicting the culprit and not take it to your hards and kill them—"

"Shut up and just listen to me, Officer!" Red shouted, interrupting Officer Chad's sentence. "Do you think I'm dumb? With the evidence, I tried sending it to the authorities but that bastard managed to get a lawyer. Niana Penningson who was excellent at bribing people out of justice. She doesn't like to lose any of her cases, including this one. So, she spent a lot of money so she could win the case. She paid the judge and they won. Justice was never served, officer. It doesn't exist for everyone but I won't let that happen." Red's knuckles turned white because he was clutching his hands tightly from anger.

"W-What did you do...?"

"Have a guess?" Red smirked.

"The judge..." Devius uttered but he didn't have to finish it because he already guessed who is it from the investigation.

"You're right. Eunice Oscars." Red said with an evil grin under the cloth hiding his face. He let out a devilish laugh and looked at Devius straight in the eyes. "Do you know how much I enjoyed as I smash her head with a hard rock? I celebrated as I watched her gasp for air. I enjoyed hearing her beg for her life. You know why I hit her on the head with a rock? Because in that exact spot, the little boy was hit. She chose to release the criminal for money so I just showed her that when she dies, she has nothing to take with her in the fiery pit." He laughed maniacally.

"You're crazy... You're a psycho!"

Officer Chad couldn't believed what he was hearing from the guy in front of him. He was a total psycho. He is insane. While Ju Jin Su just sighed because he knows inside him that behind Red's psychotic acts in front of the officer, there was something more. When Red started to slowly walk back and forth in front of Officer Chad, the officer's eyes went on him again. Then Red went behind him.

"This one might shock you, Officer Devius Wayne Chad but did you know that your sister's friend Miranda Jameswood isn't an angel at all? She's been planning something evil from the beginning."

"What are you talking about?"

"Funny. She could have harmed your little princess if I wasn't there, officer. You should thank me for saving your pretty sister." Red laughed.

"What do you mean? You went near Daena? I'm warning you, lay your fingers on her and I won't forgive you." Devius threatened.

Red walked in front of him and sat on the chair where Ju Jin Su was sitting earlier. "Don't worry, I don't hurt anyone that doesn't do bad. Your little princess is a real angel. But that Miranda, she was planning to kill your sister because she was so jealous that she got everything while she got nothing. I saw it all in her diary. But that's not the reason why I killed her..." He stopped and smirked. "It's because she killed someone before. She killed two of her classmates in her old school but of course, she wasn't convicted because no one saw but I did."

"I don't believe you. That kid is very kind. Daena said she's always kind to her. How could she..." Devius felt like his was out of words.

"That's all hearsay, officer."

"No... She..."

"Now tell me, officer, do those evil people deserved to live? Do they deserve to enjoy their lives while they took other's and forbid them to enjoy their lives too? Do they deserve to live when they had taken other's chances to live?" Red's questions came to Devius' ears repeatedly.

"Then what about Lee Jin Hong? Why did you kill him? Did he kill someone too? Did he deserved to die?" Tears started to flow down Devius' eyes but he doesn't know the reason why.

Red stayed silent for a while. "He doesn't deserve to die but death is the only thing I could give him so his suffering will end. He killed the person who made him suffer but he was so scared to face his freedom. So I killed him because that's the only favor I could do." Red answered in a sad tone.

"W-What? You think killing him was a favor? You're insane."

"You heard it right, Officer. I killed him not because he killed someone but because that's the only favor I could do for him. Ending his suffering. If I was in his situation, I would also ask someone to just kill me so I could forget everything. Also, it was his own choice." Red responded emotionally.

After hearing everything, he felt like his strength were drained out. He doesn't know what to say or think anymore. He heard everything that Red said but he couldn't accept it all. Even if Red kept insisting that everything he did was for justice, Devius couldn't accept it. He will never accept it.
