《Call Of Death》Chapter 69 : Missing

The cold breeze hit Detective Lee's face. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the fresh air. The bus has been running for over an hour with just him as the passenger. When he got down the taxi, he went into the bus and spent almost all his day there. He kept the window open for the air to freely got in. But no matter what he does, nothing cam calm his anxious heart.
In his heart and mind, he wanted to save Officer Chad so badly, as soon as possible but the fact that he didn't know where he is, it's making him annoyed and worried more and more. He leaned on the chair and sighed. When the bus finally ended it's trip, he has no choice but to get down. The surroundings are already dark and he has nothing on him except for his wallet and the piece of Officer Chad's blood-stained cloth.
"Chad, I will look for you. I'll save you. I promise that. Please stay safe until I find you." Cameron whispered to the air as he continued walking.
"Detective Lee! Senior!" A familiar voice called him from behind.
Cameron turned around to look at him. "Officer Isaac Chase? What are you doing here?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Well, I was helping on a mission to tail on someone because he is suspected to be the Killer Caller's accomplice. What about you? Why are you here?" Isaac asked back, Cameron just shook his head.
"I don't know. I was supposed to be working on looking for Devius but I am so useless, I couldn't figure out where he is." The sadness in his voice was so visible.
Officer Chase looked at him with confusion. "What do you mean by that? You're not useless, senior. No one knows what's the culprit is up to, no one knows a single clue about the Wayne's whereabouts. We're all trying to look for him, senior. Don't feel too bad for yourself." He tried comforting Cameron but it did nothing.
"But I am the reason why he's in this situation. I am the reason why everything happened, Chase."
"What do you mean?"
"The culprit told me that he's going to take what's his. He said I took something from him. That explains why everyone around me is in danger, including Devius and Parker." He explained.
Isaac Chase has no idea about what Cameron is talking about because he has been busy for almost a few days as well because of the mission assigned to him to track down someone. He only know that his friend is missing when Chief Simom called to help find Cameron. Officer Chase know nothing more.
"What? Senior, I don't understand. Why would the culprit say that? Do you personally know the culprit?" Isaac asked in confusion.
As much as possible, Cameron did not want to say anything about the events from his past. He doesn't want anyone to find out about how miserable his childhood was. But for now, all his concerns were about his partner, Officer Devius Wayne Chad. He wanted to waste no time and save the officer but without any clue and with the bloody cloth in his hand, he doesn't know what to do. He's also struggling with everything especially the memories that are slowly coming back to him. He doesn't know why everything is happening right that moment but he would not let anything bad to happen towards Devius.

"Senior, please tell me. Are you connected to the culprit?"
"I don't know who he is but maybe... maybe he's connected to me." Cameron answered.
"Senior—"
"Officer Chase, Cameron-hyung!" Their conversation was interrupted when Gong Seuk Tae suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Both men turned to look at the kid with confused face. "Seuk Tae, what are you doing here? You're not supposed to go out alone." Cameron quried.
"And what happened to your hair? Why did it turned white?" Isaac asked while furrowing his eyebrows.
Gong Seuk Tae awkwardly smiled. "I didn't go alone, I was with Officer Igan, one of my guards. There's nothing to worry about." He answered.
"Igan?" Cameron looked around.
Seuk Tae nodded. "Yes, he just went to buy something and I saw you."
"But, what happened to your hair? Did you dye it?" Officer Chase repeated his question earlier.
The kid nodded his head excitedly. "Yes! Did you like it, Officer Chase? White hair looks so good on me, right?" His eyes are sparkling.
Cameron and Isaac looked at each other. Detective Lee shook his head and sighed while Officer Chase nodded with a smile.
"Yes, it looks so good on you. You resemble those Kpop idols I see on TV." The officer complimented.
"What about you, hyung? Did you not like it?" The kid's voice became sad.
Cameron smiled and held the kid's shoulder. "I do. I like it. You look so good. I'm just worried that you're outside, even if you have your guard with you. I wanted you to always be careful, Seuk Tae." He said in a calm yet worried voice.
"Don't worry... nothing will happen to me." He assured.
Cameron nodded. "Just go back to your place, it's safer there. I'll visit you tomorrow, I promised."
"Okay, I'll be waiting." Seuk Tae smiled and started walking away back to his guard's car after waving goodbye.
Cameron sighed as he watch Gong Seuk Tae enter the car. When the car left, he walked near a bench and sat there, Isaac followed. Concern, annoyance and anxiety are obviously visible on Cameron's face. Concern for the most important person in his life, for all the people around him, for Gong Seuk Tae. He felt annoyed because no matter how much he wanted to find a way to catch the culprit and save everyone, he could do nothing as he has no idea where to find the culprit. He was anxious that with each passing minute that he could not find and see Devius, he does not know how long he would be safe in the hands of his enemy.
"Senior, you look pale, are you alright?" Isaac asked in concern.
Cameron shook his head. "I'm fine."
"But you're supposed to be resting at the hospital. You've been working without rest for the passed days and that's why you fainted at that abandoned building."

"It's not the only reason, Chase. I couldn't rest knowing that Chad is in Red's possession."
"Senior, I know you're worried and so am I. Everyone was worried about Wayne but if you don't rest and you get sick, do you think it'll be easier? No. Take some rest for a while, senior." Officer Chase advised.
Cameron fell silent. He know Isaac is only concerned about. He knew that everyone were concerned about him but he can't just sit and rest knowing that his partner is at risk. He closed his eyes and leaned backwards. The wind is still cold and if it was a normal situation, it would have been relaxing.
Officer Isaac Chase stayed there with him for some time before he was called by his superior and has no choice but to leave. Before he left, he advised Cameron to go home and get some rest but being his usual self, he didn't listen. After spending some time sitting, he went back to the headquarters. Chief Simon was out for a meeting and some of his colleagues already went to take some rest and sleep. That left only him and two of his other colleagues at the office.
Cameron sat down and stared at the bloody cloth that he's been holding since he woke up. "Please stay safe, Devius. Stay safe until I find you." He mumbled.
"Detective Lee! Detective Lee!" Cameron stood up in confusion when he heard Officer Yussaf's voice.
"Yussaf? What are you doing here?" He confusedly asked. The officer's expression looked really worried making Detective Lee feel doubtful. "Yussaf, I'm asking you, what are you doing here? You and Igan are supposed to look after Seuk Tae."
"Sir, I'm not sure if this is the right time to say this but... I think Gong Seuk Tae was kidnapped by that Killer Caller too." Hearing what the officer said, Detective Lee furrowed his brows.
"What do you mean, Yussaf? Isn't he with Officer Igan earlier?" Cameron furrowed his brows.
Officer Yussaf lowered his head. "I-I'm sorry, sir." He mumbled.
"I didn't asked you to apologise. I'm asking you what do you mean? How come Seuk Tae was kidnapped when you had your colleague looking after him?" He raised his voice making the latter jump in surprised a bit.
"I-I'm really sorry, Detective Lee. I already asked my colleague what happened but Officer Igan said he was knocked out after getting inside the room when Gong Seuk Tae screamed." Officer Yussaf explained but Detective Lee still couldn't make out the sense out of it.
"Knocked out? How will he be easily knocked out? Does that mean they safely arrived at the safe house and was ambushed inside the room?" The detective questioned again.
"Yes, sir. He said when he entered the room, he felt dizzy and then he passed out. When he gained his consciousness back, Gong Seuk Tae was gone. That's when he immediately called me. We looked for the kid around the area but he was nowhere to be found." He said in a long litany.
Cameron took a deep breath and problematically sat back down. He rubbed his hands over his face. As when he was about to open his mouth again, he felt his phone vibrating inside his pocket. He was confused to see that it was Chief Simon who was calling. Detective Lee sighed and pressed the answer button before placing it to his ear.
"Hello, Chief."
"Why did you just answered now? I've been calling you since God knows when, Cameron. Where are you?" The superior's voice was kind of panicked but it's visible that she's still trying to keep her cool.
"I'm at the headquarters. What is it, Chief? Did something happen?" He politely asked.
Cameron could hear her sigh. Chief Simon went silent for a while before finally talking again but what she said next made the detective worried.
"I need you to meet me, now." She commanded.
"Wait, aren't you on a meeting outside? What happened, Chief?"
"Detective Kairo Sedis Parker is missing. I went to the hospital to check on you but I didn't see there. I tried to call Parker but he wasn't picking up and I saw a note left on the floor and I think he was also kidnapped." The Chief stated.
"I'll be there in a while, Chief." He hung up and turned to face Officer Yussaf. "I'll call you later, keep looking for Seuk Tae and call me if anything happens, call Chase too. I have to go now." He commanded before he took a taxi and went back to the hospital where he was confined.
While he was inside the taxi, Cameron couldn't help himself but feel worried. First, it's Devius who went missing and he soon found out that he was being held captive by Red. Then now, Gong Seuk Tae and Detective Parker suddenly disappeared and he has this feeling that they were captivated by the same guy—Red. He felt like he's sanity was being taken away by both frustration and anxiety. He couldn't think straight.
