《Call Of Death》Chapter 54 : Mine Is Mine

They spent quite a long while on the road because of the traffic caused by the heavy rain. When they finally arrived at the hospital, Detective Lee searched for a place to park the car. When everything was settled, the three hurriedly went inside the hospital to Detective Parker's room. While walking, Cameron noticed that Gong Seuk Tae was shaking from the cold. Probably because he's wet and the hospital is air-conditioned.
"Hey, Chad, you can go to Parker's room first, I'll handle Seuk Tae." He turned to his partner who just nodded his head and started walking. He then turned to the kid. "Come on, I'll buy you some clothes to the nearest mall. You'll get sick if you wear that wet clothes for a long time."
"I'm fine, Detective Lee. I'm comfortable with my clothes." He shook his head in refusal.
"You are fine for now but after getting soaked, you won't be. Don't be stubborn and come with me." Detective Lee held Seuk Tae on the wrist and pulled him outside to the car.
The rain has calmed down a bit but it's still pretty hard. Cameron opened the door for Gong Seuk Tae, leaving the kid with no choice but to hop in. The mall wasn't that far and can be reached by feet but because it's raining, he chose to drive there. Few moments later, they finally arrived. Upon entering, Gong Seuk Tae stared at all the clothes inside.
"Choose whatever you want, I'll buy it for you." He ordered the kid.
"You don't have to do this."
"Come on, Seuk Tae."
"Detective Lee, I'm really fine. I don't need to change." He tried to refused again but saw the elder already looking for clothes.
"Here, try this on. You're tall for your age, this might fit in you." He handed him a white shirt and grey hoodie.
"But, I really don't have to change, Detective Lee." He refused.
Cameron handed him the clothes. "Go and try it."
"But, Detective Lee..." Seuk Tae hesitantly held it.
Cameron raised one of his brows. "Stop being stubborn and change your clothes. Also, stop calling me with formality, you called me hyung before, you can just keep calling me hyung." He stated.
Gong Seuk Tae stared intently at Detective Lee, looking surprised by the elder's words. "W-What did you say?"
"What?" Detective Lee furrowed his brows.
"I think I heard you wrong, Detective. Can you repeat what you just said earlier?" The kid gave an awkward smile, scratching his nape.

"What? I said you should change and stop calling me with formality. Just keep calling me hyung, it sounds better." Cameron repeated, Seuk Tae just smiled and went to the fitting room.
Detective Lee also smiled while waiting for the kid. He feels more at ease now. Inside the fitting room, Gong Seuk Tae removed his wet upper clothes and started putting the dry new ones. He brushed his hair up using his fingers before coming out.
"See? Those clothes fits just right. Let's go, I'll pay for them." Cameron stood up and head towards the counter.
Gong Seuk Tae could only follow him with his eyes. "Detective Lee-I mean, hyung, you didn't have to buy anything for me." He shouted as he run to follow him.
"It's fine. Letting you get sick from getting soak in the rain isn't a option. Next time, if you're planning to go outside, bring your guards with you and take some umbrella. If I'm not busy, you can call me." He lectured as they walked out and to the car.
"I was worried about Detective Parker that I forgot to take anything with me." The kid pouted in response.
"Then next time, if you ever felt extremely worried again, just call me and I'll pick you up." Cameron suggested as he put on his seatbelt.
Seuk Tae turned to him with a confused smile. "You're so caring towards me, do you have a brother, hyung?"
"No."
"Well, have you ever had a brother before?" Seuk Tae asked again.
Detective Lee shook his head. "I never met my parents, so I don't know if I used to have a brother. All I know is I grew up alone in a place I don't even want to talk about." He responded.
Seuk Tae's expression changed from confused to serious. "You never had a brother? Did you really grew up alone? Not even friends? Or someone important to you?" He asked consecutively.
"No, Seuk Tae. I never had someone from my childhood."
"Alright. As you said...hyung." After that, Seuk Tae just stared at the window outside.
Cameron could just shook his head as he started the car and begun driving back to the hospital. On the other hand, Devius carefully opened the door to not disturb Detective Parker if ever he's sleeping. They were in a hurry to go to the hospital earlier that they didn't get to bring something so when Detective Lee and Gong Seuk Tae headed out, he also went to get some fruits for his colleague. When he finally got in, he saw the man sitting on his bed with the dextrose on. He looked better now than the day he knocked at their apartment's door.

"Detective Parker, how are you feeling now? I brought you some fruits for your fast recovery." Kairo quickly turned to his direction upon hearing his voice.
"Oh? Officer Chad, I'm feeling better now. Thank you for visiting me here." Detective Parker smiled but quickly furrowed when he realized that no one was behind him. "Where's Cameron?" He asked.
"Oh. He has to do something but he'll be right here soon." Officer Chad smiled.
"Don't tell me he's working again?" Detective Parker chuckled.
Officer Chad shook his head and smiled. "He's really a workaholic person but this time, it's not about work."
"Huh?"
"Just wait and you'll find out." Devius winked which made Detective Parker confused.
Devius know that even if Kairo looks better now, he still needs some rest. Also, he wanted to surprise the detective instead of telling him that Cameron was with Gong Seuk Tae. It's because he never saw anyone visiting Kairo while he is the hospital, not even a single family member. He wanted to asked about Kairo's family's whereabouts but he does want to be nosy. He just took out one apple and started peeling it.
After doing that, he handed it to Detective Parker. "Here, eat some."
"Thank you." The other responded.
"Hmm, can I ask you something, Detective Parker?" Devius mumbled in a hesitant voice.
Kairo looked at him. "What is it?"
"Does your family knows about what happened to you?"
Kairo shook his head. "I have no one, Officer Chad. My family doesn't even considered me as their own." He smiled bitterly making Devius feel bad about bring it up.
With that, the officer just kept quiet, fearing that he might say something that'll offend the latter. After several minutes, the door finally cracked opened and Cameron got inside. He quickly turned to face Detective Parker who was already smiling at him. But that smile was suddenly changed into surprised agape when Gong Seuk Tae entered the hospital room.
"Gong Seuk Tae, what are you doing here?" Detective Parker asked in surprised, he even carelessly sat up and winced after feeling the pain his wound.
"He was worried about you, that's why he's here. We found him walking under the rain and all wet. Cai went to buy him some clothes so he could change, that's why he was a bit late." Devius explained in a long litany with a smile.
Gong Seuk Tae walked towards Detective Parker's bed. "How are you? Does your wounds hurt? How do you feel?" The kid asked.
Kairo looked at Gong Seuk Tae with a sigh. "I'm fine, you should have just waited for me to visit you in your safe house. How many times do I have to tell you that being outside is dangerous." He lectured.
"That's exactly what I said." Detective Lee shrugged his shoulders.
"I was just worried, Detective Parker. I couldn't wait for you to visit me and I also wanted to check on you." Gong Seuk Tae reasoned out.
Detective Parker sighed again and smiled. "I'm fine, there's nothing to worry about. Next time, don't just go out like that. It's very dangerous. You have my phone number, you can just call me if you wanted to know how am I."
Gong Seuk Tae nodded in response. "I understand."
"You can stay here for some time but you have to go back later." Devius ruffled the kid's hair while smiling.
"Ah, can I use the bathroom, hyung?" Seuk Tae turned to Detective Lee with a smile.
Both Officer Chad and Detective Parker looked surprised by what he called him. They both looked at each other in confusion then shrugged.
"Sure." Cameron said.
Kairo was munching on his apple and the two guys were just sitting beside each other. Then Cameron felt his phone vibrated, indicating that someone sent him a message. He took out his phone and read it.
(How does it feel to be called hyung? Does it feel good? Does it gave you the feeling of family? Does anyone knows that you're full of lies? That kid, can you even protect him? Look out, detective, because I'm going to take everything from you. Mine is mine.)
Cameron tightened his grip on the phone upon reading the message. He doesn't know where Red is but he was sure he's just around. He didn't want to bother anyone and make them worry so he pretended that it was nothing. After letting Gong Seuk Tae stay there for some time, the elders decided to take him home so they could talked about some important matters to themselves. Detective Lee stayed in the room with Detective Parker while he asked Officer Chad to take Gong Seuk Tae home.

P.A.R.A.D.O.X. PROJECT: Aeon Genesis
The first project focusing on four protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century Europe. This is the first P.A.R.A.D.O.X. PROJECT focusing on 3 (+1) protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century-esque Europe. Each story has its own protagonists (Male or Female Lead), genres (mainly Western Fantasy), and can be read as a standalone. Status: OngoingUpdate(s) per week: 1Words per chapter: 3000 - 6000 *** ‘A human or not; a king or a servant; hope or despair; a hero or a villain.’ Depending on one's perspective and how each story portrays, one will view an individual or a group as evil or virtuous. Because of that, it depends on the reader and listener to believe which one is the truth. More people read and trust multiple (trusted?) sources that either complement or contradict one another. The contradiction becomes the source of debates between those who believe and those who don’t. From that difference in belief, two groups appear: The Majority and The Minority. The majority, having more people, suppress the minorities’ beliefs, claiming theirs, the majorities’, to be the truth. However, the majority are not only composed solely of those who share the same belief but also those who know the truth but afraid to admit it. They have to keep quiet and turn a blind eye for their safety. The majority had to submit to those with power and authority. With the majority under control, those with power and authority can create, manipulate, and/or fabricate truth and lies by force. The reason was for one’s or group’s personal benefits. In the end, there is no such thing as ‘absolute truth’; only sugar-coated lies created by the top. Don’t believe me? It is up to you to decide. Go and read it yourself.
