《Call Of Death》Chapter 4 : The Party And The First Encounter

The shimmering lights are everywhere. Lively music could be heard all around. The noise and people talking to each, the clinking of the glasses as they clung it with each other can also be heard as they shout the word, "Cheers!"
Everyone seems to enjoy the party. Some are dancing at the center as the other cheers on them. A band was on the stage, heating the night up with their cheerful music. Every person at the party was obviously from a luxurious family because of the designer things they're wearing.
The party has just started and more and more visitors and guests are coming. But one guest took the attention of everyone in the party. A handsome guy, looking like he's at his twenties. He's wearing a black jeans, grey turtle neck shirt, a suit and a black chukka boots. But what caught most of their attention is his expensive Rolls Royce Sweptail. And you guess it right...
It's Detective Cameron Caiseus Lee.
"Tss! I didn't expect a party to be this expensive." He twitched his lips. "They could use the money to help people instead of holding such luxurious event." He whispered.
"Good evening, sir. Let me park your car." A chauffeur went to him and offered his hand.
"Thank you." He handed the keys and went inside. "Is this a bar or a palace? How luxurious." He mumbled as he looked around.
He went to sit on the bar island. "What do you want to drink, sir?" The bartender asked.
"Just give me anything. I'm not a drinker so, I'll be fine with anything." He answered.
"Gotcha, sir." The bartender smiled and begun making him a drink. After a while, he handed Detective Lee a glass with the drink he made. "Sir, here's your martini."
Detective Lee took it. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, sir." The bartender replied politely.
Detective Cameron Lee just nodded and turned his sit around and begun scanning the surrounding. Nothing seems suspicious so far. It's just a normal scene at a bar. Drinking, partying, talking, laughing and some are making out but he didn't care about that. There are some teenagers around for sure.
On the other side of the bar, Officer Devius Chad was busy with his drinks while watching everyone having fun. He was left alone in their sit when Officer Isaac Chase went to a dance with some girl he just met. If Devius was a playful man, his best friend is surely a playboy. That's their difference.

Officer Devius Chad loves fun but never with a girl. He would never play a girl because of his sister. He doesn't want her sister to be played either. Also, he doesn't know why but for some reason, he was never attracted to any. It's not like he's gay because he was never attracted to the same gender as well. Maybe he just haven't met the one yet. Yeah, as corny as it sounds but that's what he thinks. He just continued drinking while leaning on the seat.
"Hi there, handsome. Are you enjoying the night?" A lady wearing a red cocktail dress, holding a blue cocktail drink with a very, very red lipstick walk over to him. "Why are you drinking here alone?" She seductively asked.
Officer Chad pointed at himself. "Excuse me? You're talking to me, miss?" He asked.
The lady nodded. "Who else should I be talking to, handsome?" She went to sit beside him.
He's not fond of girls, moreover someone whom he just met at the bar because he knows that it's just a one time thing but he still played it cool and gave her a smile so she won't be embarrassed. But inside his mind, he just wanted her to go away and seduce someone else.
"I'm just waiting for my date, miss."
"Oh! Drop the miss, please call me Niana or better, just call me yours." She introduced herself, extending her hand. "What's your name, handsome?"
"Devius, I'm Devius Chad." He shook her hands.
"Nice name for a handsome man. Now, I know why you're so hot."
"Huh? Why?"
"Because you rule the hell, Devius." She bit her lips.
'Is that supposed to be a compliment when she compared my name to the devil?'
"But wait, a man waiting for a girl?" The lady pouted as if she's not believing his made up story.
That's when a silly idea came to his mind. "Who said that my date is a girl?" He smirked.
"Huh?"
"Miss, I never said my date is a girl."
The girl took some time before processing what he just said and when she finally realized it, she stood in shock and excuse herself. Officer Devius just held back his laughter because she literally believed it.
'Never gets old.' He said in his mind. That's because he always used that trick whenever a girl approaches him. So, they often think he's gay.

"Hey, Devius, why did that chic run away looking like she'd seen a ghost?" The approaching Officer Chase confusedly asked his friend.
Officer Chad just shrugged his shoulder. "I just told her that I was waiting for my date."
"Your date? Who's your date? You don't have a date, do you?" The other asked again.
"Of course I don't have my date, you silly. You're the one who invited me here. In that case, you're my date." He answered with a silly smile.
"Ew! Gross!"
"What? Hey! That's foul." Officer Chad laughed.
"Anyway, why did you tell her you're waiting for some girl who don't even exist?" Officer Chase asked again.
Officer Chad finally can't hold his laughter anymore and said. "I told her that I was waiting for a man as my date. Pfft!"
"WHAT!?"
"Yeah, and she literally believed it." He said laughing.
"You're insane, dude."
"I do get that comment sometimes from the people I caught."
Officer Chase just shook his head because of his friend. "You'll end up alone because of your attitude." He whispered.
"I won't, don't worry. I have my little princess to keep me company."
"Tss! Daena will definitely get married before you do, if you will." Isaac chugged on his drink while shaking his head.
"As long as she's happy and she's being taken care of, I'll be fine to be living alone. Oh! Maybe I could crashed at your house?"
"Dude, no! I'm gonna enjoy my life with girls and not stuck with you."
Officer Chase laughed a little bit loud, little did he know that a person was looking at them from a distance and overheard their conversation. A look of dismay is already painted on his face.
"Tss! He's a playful jerk." Detective Lee whispered to himself and continued drinking his martini.
Half an hour had passed and still nothing suspicious happened. Detective Lee stood up and begun wandering around to see if he missed something. All the guests are still enjoying and the band on the stage are cheerfully singing and playing instruments. He can't find anything that is unsettling.
'Is there really something that's gonna happen here? Or did Chief Simon tricked me into going here?'
Cameron was starting to get really bored so he decided to look outside. When the cold breeze touched his face, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. It's already 10 o'clock midnight. He looked up and saw millions of stars twinkling.
He looked around and started walking to inspect the surroundings but still didn't find anything suspicious. Tired of walking, he sat on a nearby big rock that is made to sit on. Someone is already sitting there but he didn't say a word because he doesn't know him and he's not the talkative type.
"Hey, got bored inside? You want some cigar?" The guy offered.
"No, thanks. I don't smoke." He refused without even looking at him.
"So, why are you out? Don't you like the vibe inside?" The stranger asked.
He just sighed. "I'm not fond of those kind of things." Detective Lee simply answered.
"I see but, you're not here because of the party, aren't you?" The stranger asked again which made him kind of alert but he didn't let him notice. "I saw you looking around inside and acting suspicious. Then, I followed you outside and you still did the same thing. Are you looking for something?" He felt the stranger guy stood up.
Cameron isn't sure if this guy is his mission but he did felt like someone was watching him from a distance. He just stayed alert in case anything happens but still maintaining his calm posture.
"Why? Is there something I must suspect?" Detective Lee acted calm but he was ready to take out his gun if this stranger guy is planning something.
But against his knowledge, this guy has also the same thought as him and is ready for anything that is going to happen. He then felt something being aimed at the back of his head—a gun. He wasn't prepared for that action. He didn't even felt this guy taking something out. His actions are very polished.
"Turn around." The stranger commanded, so he turned around.
Cameron then saw the guys face. It's the playful jerk from earlier but his expression is very different from what he saw the time prior. His face is serious and his eyes are saying — move and you're done.
'Is he a drug lord?' Detective Lee thought.

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?

A Friendly Voidling
When a Creature of the Void fails to find friendship among her own kind, she instead sets her sights upon another, human-filled world. Unfortunately, humans turn out to be rather small and squishy things, resulting in a mostly accidental trail of death, destruction and madness as she embarks on her journey to finally make some friends. This is a 25k word inane short story, and makes no attempt at being serious or realistic. It's my first attempt at trying a more comedic writing style. No relation to my other stories, aside from a brief cameo. Cover bodged together with Charat Genesis. Not quite the design I had in mind, but reasonably close. Doesn't contain explicit smut, but does contain references to stuff happening off-screen. May contain traces of gore. Also eels, in varying states of distress. Posted here and scribblehub.

How to raise a Hive Queen
This story is about a newborn Hive Queen, which gets raised in an unexpected environment. The first part of the story will focus on her development and the challenges that come with it. Eventually she will start to produce her own swarm of hive creatures. The species of the Hive Queen is called the Sylv and they are a insectoid species with an hive mind. The Sylv can evolve themselves through extracting traits from other non Sylv creatures. This is limited to modify the basic set of creatures the Sylv can produce, they are not able to create completely new creatures. In this regard they are more like ants, who have workers, soldiers and queen ants. The Sylv live underground in so called hive complexes and use living structures in them to produce more of their kind. The Hive Queen is the leader of a Sylv Hive and responsible for evolving the swarm. This novel takes place in a fantasy setting and was inspired by other hive species like the Zerg from "Starcraft" made by Blizzard Entertainment, the Arachnea from "Her majesty's swarm" published on j-novel club, and the Vex from "I don't want to be the Hive Queen" by ValetheHowl. I really enjoy stories with an organic hive mind species and want to contribute myself. The focus and theme of this story will change as the Hive Queen matures and defines the goals she wants to achieve.
