BAAM!
"Nice kill, Misaki-san."
You nodded and looked at the scoreboard in satisfaction.
25:20
Another day in training, another win. You scooped up your bottle and chugged the sweet sweet water, quenching your dry throat.
"WOAH HARU! NICE KILL!"
"Good game."
You heard Hinata yell out and Kageyama say as they walked over to you.
"Oh, thanks! Have you been watching since the start?" you ask, wiping your sweat with a towel.
"Yeah! Me and Tobio had free time and it's our break now too. Let's get something to eat!" Hinata's stomach growled and you and Kageyama chuckled.
"Don't forget, we have the try-outs today. The 3 of you better help out." Coach Reiji approached.
"Of course, coach! I wanna see the new-comers too." you exclaimed, earning a firm nod from Reiji.
The 3 of you headed to the cafeteria and enjoyed your little snacks. You scrolled through your social media while Kageyama and Hinata bickered. You looked through your archives and many posts from your high school years appeared, pictures with the team, with Shimizu and Yachi, times spent goofing around with your teammates and of course, your pictures with Noya.
It's been 3 years, maybe more, since you last saw him. You had been offered a spot at the All Japan National Team after high school, as well as Hinata and Kageyama. The 3 of you, now 20 years old, furthered your volleyball career there and you were able to continue your education which you had just finished.
Kageyama and Hinata, or Kagehina for short, have been going strong and you unfortunately were always third-wheeling them, not that they minded though. You hadn't dated anyone since high school although the 2 boys would try to set you up.
You sighed and put down your phone, looked back up and saw Kageyama feeding his boyfriend. They looked so adorable together, but you felt too single.
"Oi. I'm here too you know... I'm going back first, the try outs should have started already." you scoffed and cleared your seat.
"We'll find you later!" Kageyama said quickly and tended to Hinata, who happily nodded.

.
.
You stood at the back of the court, the tryout games had already started. Coach Reiji came and stood beside you, watching the players closely.
WHAM!
"What a sound... He sure has power. They're all pretty good..." you whispered in awe.
"Yeah, you better watch out for new liberos, Haru-chan~ They may replace you~" Reiji teased.
"COACH! HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT? Hmph."
"Heheheh just kidding, you're our best female libero here. Karasuno's Guardian Angel eh?"
"Omg stop with that ples" you deadpanned at your immature coach, and then you laughed together. You turned back to the court and a new game had started with all new players, but that strong spiker had stayed on the court.
"Haru! We're back!" Hinata called from behind and joined you and your coach in watching the game. Kageyama was there too of course, and the strong spiker was about to hit the ball.
WHAM!
POM!
A black haired, broad backed male zoomed into position and received the ball perfectly, he sent it back to the setter with grace and the spiker scored a point. He wore a jersey colour different from the rest of his team, which meant he was a libero. You were shocked at his reaction time, and that spike was a really strong one too. You kept your eyes him.
The amazing libero managed to save almost all the spikes and dumps sent his way. He whooshed in and out of his stance to get the best method of receiving the ball. You felt intimidated by his excellent skills and turned to your coach.
"He's so damn good?"
"He's not really an official try-out but he does stand out doesn't he? Indeed, the best male libero." Reiji nodded proudly.
Then, a spike near the out line came flying. He was slightly further away from the ball and it would be too far for a proper receive.
"ROLLINGEU... THUNDAAAA!"
The libero yelled out and stretched out his left arm, smacking the ball back to the setter, then he flipped over and hopped back on his feet. He just did a simple one-armed receive.

Hearing that, you felt goosebumps all over your body. Your mind flushed with different thoughts and your heart beat faster. You stared at the libero who stood proudly with his hands on his hips.
No way...no fucking way...
"YUU?"
You shouted.
The guy froze in his spot and turned around slowly, then you locked eyes with him. It was like the gym had turned completely silent. The sound of the balls bouncing on the floor was distant and the shouts were muffled. His face now in full view.
His soft shiny black hair that swayed with the wind, his cute lil nose that would scrunch up ever so slightly whenever he was frustrated or shy, and his eyes. Those pretty brown eyes that were so bright, full of hopes and dreams.
You were looking into those eyes.
"Ha-Haru...?"
He whispered but you read his lips.
It was him.
.
.
"NISHINOYA. I TOLD YOU TO STOP YELLING THAT!" Coach Reiji sighed and walked over to him.
"A-Ah, gomen gomen HAHAHA!" the libero laughed with his beautiful smile.
You stood rooted to the ground, wanting to run but not believing the reality of the situation. Hinata tapped your shoulder and you turned to the boy. Kageyama stood beside him and smiled gently.
"You both just keep finding your way back to each other huh..." Kageyama says, and Hinata looks at Noya in awe.
"Yeah, I guess so!" you say, tears welling up in your eyes.
"HARU!" he called out to you. He had grown so much taller and buffer, he looked so vibrant and full of energy.
Not hesitating any longer, you sprinted to him and jumped into his open arms, hugging yours around his neck tightly. He carried you up and you wrapped your legs around his hips, nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck.
You just stayed like this, taking in each other's presence again. Noya rested his head on yours and then slowly put you down. He lifted your chin and looked down at you, lightly brushing your stray strands of hair behind your ear.
"Pfft, you're face is a mess, Haru!" he chuckled, wiping your tears with his thumb. You leaned your face into his big hands and held it gently.
"You...You're really... h-here..." you cried, overflowing with emotions.
"Yeah, and you're here." he smiled, cupping your face with his hands. You caressed his cheek and grinned. You were finally back in his arms after so long, but now, it felt as if he never left.
"Are you joining this company?" you asked, swooning over him.
"I was always part of it, I just went to do my own training. I traveled to places like Brazil and France where they had really good volleyball teams. After graduation, I got an invitation here, I just told the coach to give me a few years to better myself individually. He was kind enough to wait." he explained.
"It was worth the wait, Noya-san." Reiji walked up to you both and chimed in.
"Now we have both the Guardians in the company, what kind of fate is this, I am one lucky man." Reiji says, patting Noya on the back and smiling at you warmly, then he walked back to the court to tend to the new players.
"NOYA-SENPAI!" Kageyama and Hinata ran over and tackled Noya to the ground.
"WAHAHAHA YES I AM YOUR SENPAI" Noya laughed.
He really hasn't matured much huh... you giggled.
"WOAH NOYA-SAN! I THINK WE'RE THE SAME HEIGHT NOW! I'M 172CM!" Hinata says proudly.
"WAHAHAHAAH I'M 173!" Noya boasts
"HYEHHHHHH?" the duo dropped their jaws in shocked. Noya laughs and then turned back to you.
"Don't think I've forgotten our promise. I would propose right now, but we have date first, how unfortunate." he smirked.
"How unfortunate, indeed." you answered back, holding his hand.
"I missed you baby. I missed you so much." he said, tracing circles on your palm.
"I missed you too." you sighed, going on your tiptoes and kissing him lightly.

The Last Orellen is a long, character-focused progression fantasy set in a vast universe about a boy's journey to become a powerful mage. Reviews are deeply appreciated. Please do not repost my work elsewhere without my written permission. What type of reader is this book for? You might enjoy The Last Orellen if you like... Clever and resourceful protagonists. Big fantasy worlds. Multiple cultures, lots of characters, many different types of magic--this story is expansive rather than closely focused on a narrow storyline. Progression fantasy that takes its time. Our main character will be progressing through magical ranks, but this is going to be a lengthy story. If you're more about the journey than the destination, this might be the book for you. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
