《ALPHA ROGUE: UNTOLD》10 - The Treaty

There was a long silence after her confession. She just said that the attack was because of her and from here, what can I do? It won't be any moment that they'll know who she is.

"It is understandable, since they attacked your pack." The Luna said releasing the silent tension. But my mate's eyes gleamed with her thoughts. No, it's not your fault. I moved beside her.

"Can you excuse us for a moment?" I asked, I don't want this to end up blaming everything on her. It's not her fault.

"Of course. Alpha Dmitri will be here shortly."

"Thank you. I'll come back." I took her hand. "Let's go." She did not fight back. We ended up in the garden, not too far from the house, and there will be no one here to listen to what we're going to talk about.

"Thalia, we need to stop this." She looked at me as if scared. "No, not us." That's not what I mean. "If you're going to tell them what happened, talk to me first." I slowly said. "You don't need to own everything. I am here to listen, to help you. If you're sad or angry, if you want to find those who killed Aiyu, if you need to say or do anything, you can tell me. I am your mate." If it sounded offensive or self centered, I'm sorry but that is the truth. Yet, she's silent.

"Alpha Dmitri will be arriving soon; do you want to tell me what happened that time? What do I have to know?" She's still quiet. "Thalia. I need to know what happened so I'll know if there are any misunderstanding." She remained staring at me. "Winter." She blinked and I think I cut her thoughts. "Please tell me. I want to protect you. So, tell me what-?"

"Are you okay?" She asked, her tone is too foreign. "I..." Her hand reaching for my chest, the wound she inflicted. I caught her hand.

"I'm alright. It's not your fault." I reassured her.

She shook her head. "I would've... You could've..." Her hand shakes with her voice.

"It's not your fault." I repeated.

"Stop saying that!" She pulled her hand away, stepping back. "It was clearly my fault. If I had not killed Damon, Aiyu would've been alive. If I did not get myself with Dmitri's pack, I won't be that Alpha Rogue. If I had only stayed at home, you would not be in this situation. So, it's my fault." She almost shouted. "If I did not try to reach for my human, we won't live like this." Her voice slowly disappeared. "Please, I just... I can't stay like this. I'm not like you. I can't be a Luna, I can't be your..." She paused. She heave a sigh. "Can you leave me for a while? I need to collect my thoughts. The rogues are gone and I won't come chasing them."

"But.." No. That was the mistake I kept on doing.

"Please. I really need some space right now." She continued, her eyes couldn't even look at me. "I'll go back to Aiyu's house. I need to take care of his stuff and..." grieve. That's what she wanted to say. "I just can't be with anyone right now."

I'm never good in comforting anyone over their loss. Who am I to keep her from grieving? But I still don't want her off my sight. The continuous mistakes do not allow me to doubt that something bad will happen next.

"Please." She repeated. And I think my heart broke.

I saw a pack member from the door, Alpha Dmitri is already here.

"Okay. But you have to stay there until I arrived okay?" She nods. My strong mate is nowhere; I always wait for her sarcastic comments but now... What happened to us?

I watched as she left, the way to Aiyu's house is near the border and there are scouts around. Even if it looks safe, worry never left my mind.

I head back dragging my feet along with my heart.

"He's here." I heard Alpha Gael as I stepped in his study room.

"It's been a while." Alpha Dmitri greeted. We met a few years ago when grandfather was still holding the position. He is in his early forty's and assumed the position of the Alpha in an early age.

"It's good to see you again." We shook hands for formalities and sat in the sofa.

"So, you two have been attacked by this Rogues, huh?"

"Yes, we hope to know if the details of their attack to your pack and if these are related?" Alpha Gael directly asked.

"You're still too straightforward. But I suppose there is no point in playing around." He smiled. "Very well then, I believe you heard of my son." He turned to me. "Damon. Don't worry, what you did is justifiable and I should be the one to apologize for his blatant attitude. I apologize. I was unable to prevent him."

"There is no need." I answered. "Though I would appreciate if you impart the reasons for his actions."

"The reason? He rebelled against me when I did not acknowledge him as my heir. He caused an outrage at our pack before he became a rogue. Not long after, he managed to recruit other rogues to attack our pack. Dealing several casualties to our pack and theirs. I chose to keep the information to ourselves since it only concerns our pack. I thought he learned his lesson." He sighed. "Then I heard that he got himself killed after attacking your pack."

"It seems that everything is incidental to him, yet something is still not right. What about the Alpha Rogue?"

"The rogues acknowledged Damon as the Alpha Rogue back then."

"But I assume you know he's not." He did not wait for me to answer. "I was the one who first coined the rogue who helped us as the Alpha Rogue. Of course, I know that she is a she-wolf. For whatever reason, she helped us to stop the chaos, though I wouldn't say that she is entirely on our side as we still suffered injuries. But I would like to talk to her sometime."

"Alpha Chase." Alpha Gael called. "Your mate is a rogue wolf, isn't she?" But he is certain with his words. That I don't need to answer for them to know.

"Tell me, which pack was she from?" What? "I don't really care if she is the Alpha rogue or not, as you said a title can be claimed by anyone. What I want to know is where did she come from? If my hypothesis is correct everything is related."

"What do you mean?" Of the neighboring packs, Bluelake was known as the assassins. Silently watching their target, learning their moves and backgrounds before attacking. He already knows what is happening before he asked us.

"Back then, when the previous Alphas rule our lands, they were four neighboring packs. In the north is BlueLake, west is Decadillion, east is Bloodridge, and south is Moonstone. Of the four packs, moonstone is deemed the strongest as they have good connections with other species. But as you notice, Moonstone is somehow erased." Alpha Gael explained

"The old maps do not contain their territory." Those burned pages, does it have something to do with this?

"Yes. I believe the previous wolf commission has something to do with this." Alpha Dmitri speculated. "Meaning our predecessor Alphas."

My grandfather? He has something to do with Thalia's pack's disappearance? He is a strict and secretive person but to annihilate a whole pack? Can't be.

"If that's the case, do you have a proof?" I asked.

"No. They're too careful to leave any trace. How about you Alpha Gael? Your old man probably keeps some copies of whatever they did."

Alpha Gael stood up and went to his desk getting an envelope. Wait, did they really?

"I found a copy of their agreement with a vampire coven." He showed us the copy. And... they were signed by... my grandfather and the previous Alphas.

"They were afraid of the growing power of Moonstone pack. The contract specifies that they will employ wolves who will stand as rogues to attack the pack. And they specifically asked to keep one prisoner alive if it were present at the time of the attack."

Raiyun Lorcan, the contract stated. Raiyun? Why does it sound familiar?

"That vampire apparently was the last prince who was supposed to inherit their old throne. However, he committed treason and all covens were warned not to collude with him otherwise they will be killed. I don't know what happened to that vampire but it seems that Moonstone pack was with him."

A vampire without a coven. A friend of Thalia's pack. Could it be?

"In exchange of Moonstone, the Vampires agreed to come to terms with the Wolves, thus, we have now our peace treaty." This can't be. Why would grandfather do such a thing?

"Face it." Alpha Dmitri doesn't seem to be bothered. "I knew something was wrong. The wolf commission may look so perfect but bloodless authority is just too impossible. This is the sin they let us inherit along the Alpha title."

Why? Then it is my fault why Thalia's pack is gone.

"No. Even if we inherit the title, it is not us who decided. So, I'm asking you one more time, where did your mate come from?" Alpha Gael asked with my head going haywire.

I gulped. "She's from Moonstone pack."

"A survivor?"

"That's why she has an aura of an Alpha."

"Then, the Alpha Rogue is really a fitting title."

Why am I her mate? Why did they do that? Why?

"It must be hard to take this," Of course it is, "So, I will tell you what I found."

There are more to this?

"The rogues who Damon recruited and these rogues who attacked our pack, there is one more figure behind it. Aside from your mate, it seems that there is also another survivor. He calls himself Decarabian. I don't know how he survived but by his actions, he is targeting our packs."

"He wants revenge."

"Yes, he's using the reason of Damon's mate to hide his intention. The last thing, I haven't figure out is why hasn't he attacked yet."

If that Decarabian is behind this all, he probably knows who is the Alpha Rogue. Does he know that she came from Moonstone? Then... Thalia.
