《ALPHA ROGUE: UNTOLD》7 - It's me

"Please take a seat." The Beta said before he receded to his chair. They were already talking when we arrived.

Chase sat down at the other end of the table, me on his right and Jack on his left. His mate is outside. Come to think of it, I haven't caught her name. I couldn't always refer to her as 'the girl' or 'Jack's mate'. Regardless, I'll know somehow, give or take, that's how I know names.

"The rogues came to my mate's house." Did they already start? I have been spacing out again. Not that it's new.

"Do you know why would they be there?"

"No." I secretly glanced towards Chase, he knows what might be the reason. Is he trying to hide those details?

"Hmm.. Perhaps, they caught scent of an Alpha in an unclaimed land and went investigating since those rogues from last night did not return." The Beta theorized, his voice laced with curiosity eyeing at Chase. Implying that this is his fault. Briefly catching my eyes as my mate considers those words. I see. They were curious about me, aren't they? I couldn't help but smile at their quick minds. Of course, they found me with the bloods on my hand. When Chase was rampaging, one rogue was foolish to continue its attack. If they were to speculate, they might think I am a hunter, a very skilled one as not to employ any weapon. I already retracted my claws when they arrived and I don't think they witnessed the whole thing. Or that I am a skilled she-wolf who is a late shifter but that would make me a rogue. There is a specific scent that tells you if a wolf belongs to a pack, but I still have a human scent. Yeah I would be confused too if I was the one determining my kind. These deemed me as a not so trustable character. But am I?

"Maybe..." I started, Chase looked at me reaching for my hand under the table but I still continued. "They were just finishing their hunt." This meeting won't get anywhere if they continue on guessing. Catching everyone's attention, Chase squeezed my hand. Yes, we are in a different pack and he won't be able to control the opinions of these wolves but, I don't care.

"What is there to finish?" The tone of the Beta has a sweet excitement with their dangerous curiosity.

"Let's just say that they were eager to wipe out those who were present that night in the woods." If only I was at home, Aiyu won't come searching for me. He's been checking on me since I went home and though I understand his concern, he knew better that I don't need that. We both fail on sympathy.

"What were you doing out there? In the middle of the forest?" The Beta kept his interrogation. It's none of your business, that's what I would have said. It was Aiyu who aided the girl, not me. If only I sensed them earlier.

"I was taking a walk, that's why." I don't need to include the each and every reason. I couldn't sleep, my head is bugging me and I just have to find peace and quiet.

"A walk? In the middle of the forest? Hmmm... Such a coincidence."

"What are you implying, Beta Rico?" The threat in my mate's words brought tension in the air. He emphasized the word Beta, telling that he is an Alpha and the loudmouth is only a Beta, a second. That will get this room in blood and I'm not in the mood right now.

"Nothing," He smiled, "what is there to imply?" He does have a death wish. Tsk. My turn then, I squeezed Chase's hand while not looking at him. My concentration might be broken, if I did.

"Rico, let us stop this small talks." The silent alpha finally said something. At least, someone is mature enough to stop the kids from bickering.

"Do you know what happened that night?" Oh, he's quite frank. "If you do, can you tell us the details?" This is fine than playing around. I don't want to be in this room for long.

"All I know is that rogues were lurking around and my friend got tangled." And now he is dead!

"Your friend? The vampire?" How he knew that he is, I don't care. The fact that they know as much proves that they already investigated this matter.

"He was."

"Was?" the Luna whispered, probably unintentional for it sound out of pity. But there was more than sympathy. Aiyu is a vampire, and though there is a peace treaty, they couldn't erase the history. But Aiyu is different. He does not belong to any coven as far as I know. He tried to live a solitary life. It's just me who kept on putting myself on the line.

"Vampire or not, he saved one of your pack members." Chase reasoned.

"He saved Alice." Jack spoke. Ok? Who is Alice? "My mate." He added before glancing at me. Oh. Told you, I'll know her name.

"The important issue now is to know how to get rid of those rogues, otherwise, they will cause more damage." Chase stated and suddenly my sight started to blur. Oh no, not now. I'm sleepy again. I squinted my eyes. Is this the limit of staying close to him? Hiding in human scent is not that simple, it's like creating a bubble. And although I can utilize my wolf strength, I can only materialize so little of it. I have to be careful because those spikes of energy can burst the so fragile bubble. If I so volunteer to lose that bubble, it should only be for a short while or else, I will shift to my wolf form. Of course, I do have a wolf form, but I only shifted one time and that was a long time ago. If I do, I might not be able to revert to this human form. Aiyu did some voodoo spell or something before to help me retain this form but now, he's gone. Darn it. Why did you get yourself killed?

"Are you alright?" His soft words blow on my ear, waking me from my thoughts. I hum a yes, although my thoughts are leading astray.

"I apologize, perhaps it would be better if you rest first." An Alpha apologizing, he's too kind.

"No. Please continue." I don't know how I answered but I can't rest. The Alpha nod and Chase took a quick glance at me before returning to sit properly.

"Those rogues have been lurking around. They were quick to runaway for some time but they attacked this time." The Beta keeps on theorizing.

"You had the same problem before, as I've heard. I have spoken to Alpha Dmitri of the Decadillion pack and from our investigation, those rogues were under someone called Alpha Rogue, a she-wolf." My sight does not leave the table, trying to concentrate as much as I can. Though I did not fail to notice the disturbance of my two company. A she-wolf, was that enough of a hint?

"We encountered someone who claimed to be the Alpha Rogue and HE was dead." Chase answered.

"He? What are you suggesting that this Alpha Rogue is an imposter?"

"I am suggesting that anyone can take a title."

"The one you encountered may be fake but this might be the real one." The Alpha said in a calm tone, though he is the same as his Beta, calculative.

"Why don't we request for Alpha Dmitri to identify this Alpha Rogue." The Beta suggested and if he wasn't the Beta, he'd be dead.

I bit the inside of my cheek to focus. Dmitri saw me but I'm not certain if he had a good look at me. He already spoke with Dmitri, and he probably suspects that Chase knows something, and I haven't told Chase what happened during that time. Though to be honest, I don't recall much other than I was pissed off. But Chase is probably under pressure to not reveal my secret. What would you do, my dear mate?

"It doesn't matter, whether that Alpha Rogue is real or not, they can manipulate the rogues, whoever they are, they are the threat." His careful answer wanted to protect me. Of course, he will. Like Aiyu he will. And like Aiyu he'll die. I clasped at my forehead. You're twisted.

"Thalia," Chase has his arms around my shoulder but my head is spinning. "We should continue this some other time." I heard someone agreed. "Let's go, Thalia." He assisted me to stand but I feel my consciousness fading. The barrier is tempting to break.

"Chase." I gulped, leaning at him, trying to take control of my legs. I think we managed to get out of the room when suddenly, I was swift off my feet.

"What're you doing?" I groggily asked. But the look on his eyes were curious, more than worried. He wanted to say something. There was a creak of a door but my sight is fixated at him. Until, I felt a soft mattress. He pulled up the blanket and adjusted my pillow, yet my eyes never left his.

'Why're you like that?" I sounded drunk but he has been weird.

"Take some rest." He whispered brushing the stray hair off my face.

"Chase," I whispered, my eyes closed. "I don't want to sleeeepp.." I took a deep breath to take an ounce of strength, but not as much to break my barrier. Opening my eyes, I asked, "What's wrong?" It sounded more decent. "What is it?"

He sighed before sitting beside me.

"Aiyu died. You're not okay." He paused, eyes averting to his hand holding mine. "I'm putting you in more stress." He returned his gaze, "This rogue issue should never be your problem." Aiyu said the same thing, that this is not my responsibility, that packs are the ones who needs to take care of these. But those facts also emphasized that I don't belong to any pack. Maybe, I'm just delusional to prove true to the title Alpha Rogue. An Alpha, but that...

"It's me." My eyes got heavier. "I am the..."and I sank into the dark abyss.
