《The Monster Inside ➺ Scott. M》chapter 39

Astrid woke up, a silent sigh escaping her red, slightly swollen lips. She could feel Scott's warmth radiate off his body as his chest was pressed against her naked back. His right arm wrapped around her waist while he cuddled with her.
She turned around to face the sleeping alpha "Scott" she whispered, poking his cheek. He pushed her hand away but didn't wake up. "Scott" she repeated, a bit louder this time, flicking his forehead. He didn't wake up. She smiled evilly as she stood up, quickly putting on some pyjamas to cover her naked body as she vamp sped to the kitchen. She grabbed a glass and filled it with tap water.
She vamp sped back to Scott's bedroom and stood on his side of the bed. She moved the cup above his face as she slowly poured the water on his face. He began waking up when he felt the droplets of water splash on his skin, the coldness making him shiver. "What?" He asked, not opening his eyes yet, one of his arms covering his forehead.
Astrid moved the cup so that the water would splash on his cheek. He opened his eyes lazily and saw only Astrid's mischevious smile before all of the water from the glass was poured on him. He laid on his bed, in shock with his eyes opened wide, slightly shivering from the freezing water.
He smiled when he heard Astrid's laughter fill the room, he loved her sweet laugh. He got up from the bed and walked towards her, hugging her from behind. "Nope!" She said loudly as she pulled away from the hybrid. "I don't want to get wet!" She chuckled as she left his room, walking to hers.
When she got to her room, she took a quick shower and brushed her teeth.
She then put on a thin baige sweater and red, skinny, ripped jeans along with tied, light brown shoes.
She put on some make-up, not too much and not too little before curling her hair.
After that, she left her room and walked downstairs and headed to a room where she heard classical music playing.
She walked in and saw her brothers sitting on opposite couches, reading books while a dead girl laid on the table between them.
"I feel offended, brothers" she said, crossing her arms "I can't believe you ate without me." She scoffed.
She looked at the entrance of the room when she heard someone walking towards the room, soon, her blonde sister also walked in. Rebekah walked towards her sister and stared at her brothers with a shocked face.
"So this is what you do the first time we're back together as a family-- vampire book club" Rebekah said, making Astrid chuckle quietly.
"Reading edifies the mind, sister" Niklaus replied, not taking his eyes off the book. "Isn't that right, Elijah?"
"Yes, that's quite right, Niklaus." Elijah answered, also not taking his eyes off the book he was reading.
"And what's this business?" Rebekah asked, pointing at the dead, blonde girl on the table.
"This is a peace offering." Elijah answered in a bored tone, looking at his sisters.
"I presumed, after so much time desiccating in a coffin, that my big brother might be a bit peckish." Niklaus answered.
"So I explained to my little brother that forgiveness cannot be bought." Elijah said. "I'd simply prefer to see a change in behaviour that indicates contrition and personal growth, not this nonsense" he pointed at the girl and Astrid snorted. "Is something amusing you, sister?" Elijah asked.

"Yes, in fact. All of this is amusing" Astrid chuckled and walked around the couch to sit next to Klaus. "We both know that what you're asking for is never going to happen" she rolled her eyes at Elijah.
"I couldn't very well let her go to waste, could I?" Niklaus asked and shook her head.
"Well, I suppose I'll fetch the rubbish bin because she's staining a 200-year-old carpet." Rebakh said, walking out of the room.
Astrid looked at the carpet as her eyes opened wide. She stood up and glared at both of her brothers "Now that!" She shouted "is unforgivable" She said in a mad tone and left the room, leaving her brothers alone.
Astrid walked into the kitchen and saw her friends making breakfast together. They were all smiling and having fun, making her smile as well.
"What are you all making?" Astrid asked, Scott looked at her and walked towards her, kissing her cheek. Kira glared at them while he did so, jealousy making her angry.
"Just some bacon and eggs. Would you like some?" Lydia asked.
Astrid shook her head "No, but Hayley does." She said as Hayley entered the kitchen, her stomach growling.
"We'll make you some as Well, then" Lydia smiled at the girl.
Scott wrapped his arm around Astrid's waist, standing with her as Elijah also entered the kitchen.
"Good morning." The male original spoke as he watched everyone in the kitchen.
"Why are you here, Lijah?" Astrid asked, glaring at her brother. "Go clean that bloody carpet."
"Rebekah is taking care of it." He replied in a soft tone.
"Hey." Hayley smiled at Elijah as he walked towards her.
Suddenly, Rebekah entered the kitchen and walked towards Astrid. "Add bleach to the grocery list" she told her sister who rolled her eyes. Before Astrid could reply, Rebekah was already gone.
Elijah walked towards Hayley and smiled "You know, I do hope my siblings were hospitable towards you in my absence." Elijah said.
"In your absence-- as you like to call it, which is a way-too-polite way of saying that your brother put a dagger in your heart-- I have been attacked by French Quarter vampires. I've had to live in a house with a secret dungeon full of coffins, and I was nearly murdered by witches who are convinced that my baby is Lucifer."
"Oh God Hayley, can you stop whining?" Astrid asked the girl in an annoyed tone in her voice "if it wasn't for us, you'd be dead a long time ago. And... it's your fault for fucking my brother so don't blame it on us." Astrid said, storming out of the kitchen.
"What's up with her?" Hayley asked Elijah, confused.
"If you didn't realise yet, she's very protective of Niklaus and vice versa, so-"
"So try not to insult them while they're near you. They won't kill you but they will make your life miserable" Rebekah interrupted.
"How?" Scott asked.
"I forgot that you guys are still here" Rebekah chuckled. "By... killing Elijah... again. Believe me, the'll find a way. They always do." Rebekah smiled innocently.

Astrid and her friends now sat outside, enjoying the peace and quiet. They were either reading books, talking or swimming in the swimming pool.
Lydia and malia were both in the swimming pool, trying to force Stiles to get in. "No!" Stiles shook his head, his arms crossed over his chest as he refused to get in the pool.
"You're such a buzz kill, Stiles!" Astrid laughed, causing the boy to put his attention on her as Lydia and Malia pulled him in the pool. The pack laughed as the boy tried to figure out what just happened, staring at his friends.

"Ha.ha. very funny" Stiles said, scrunching his nose and narrowing his eyes.
"It's pretty funny" Malia laughed, watching her friends as they had fun.
"Scott... can you pass me my drink, please?' Astrid asked, looking at the drinks near the pool. Scott got up and before he could grab the drink, Astrid used her magic to push him into the pool.
The whole pack erupted in laughter as they watched the alpha get out of the pool, coughing slightly.
"That was dangerous, Astrid!" Kira suddenly shouted as she ran over to Scott.
"You do realise that he won't die from that, right?" Astrid asked, getting up and walking towards Scott as Kira. She pulled out her hand and Scott grabbed it; standing up. "You're a bit wet" Astrid commented, the pack chuckled, including Scott.
"I'll get my revenge one day!" He winked at her.
"I'll be ready" she chuckled.
"Sister." Elijah said as he walked outside with a smile.
"Yes, Elijah?" Astrid asked, staring at her brother.
"Do you have mother's grimoire?" He asked, making Astrid raise an eyebrow.
"Why do you need it?" She questioned, she didn't need the grimoire anymore as she memorised all of the spells but she was still confused as to why her brother wanted it.
"I promised Davina that I'll help her learn some spells. I'm sure you don't need the grimoire anymore, so, I would appreciate it if you allowed me to use it." Elijah smiled.
"Fine." Astrid rolled her eyes. "It's in the black box on the cupboard in my room" she told him.
"Thank you" he said with a grateful smile as he went back inside.
"What's a grimoire?" Malia asked, getting out of the pool.
"It's a spell book" Stiles told the werecoyote. Astrid looked at him surprised. "I read about witches after I found out that they exist." He explained.
"Ah" Astrid chuckled.
"How come you don't need it anymore?" Scott asked, using a towel to dry his hair.
"I've had it for 1,000 years. I know each spell off by heart." Astrid smiled.

Astrid and Scott walked around the house without a destination, not knowing what to do in order to entertain themselves. That day was undoubtingly boring so far. They decided to walk into a room that they saw Rebekah enter with a basket of Apples.
"You know, when I met you, i thought you were a real bitch" Hayley said while she sat on a seat with an apple in her hand, Rebekah standing before her. Scott and Astrid stood in the entrance with their fingers intertwined.
"What changed your mind?" Rebekah asked with a slight smile.
"Oh, I still think you're a bitch." Hayley answered, causing Astrid to chuckle. "I've just grown to like that about you."
"Am I a bitch as Well?" Astrid asked, Hayley and Rebekah turning around to look at her.
"Yes." The two women replied. Rebekah walked towards her sister and turned around to look at Hayley.
"Hayley, that's sweet of you to say. Remember it when I'm gone." Rebekah said.
"Gone?" Scott asked, confused.
"Where are you going?" Hayley asked.
"She only came here to make sure everything was okay with Elijah, Hayley." Astrid told the pregnant werewolf.
"He's fine and he hasn't punished Klaus for daggering him, so, as usual, they'll be thick as thieves, and I'll be left to clean up the mess." Rebekah added. "It's time for me to fly the coop."
"Oh." Was all Hayley could say.
"Hayley, what's wrong?" Astrid asked when Hayley began breathing a bit heavier than before.
"I don't know." She replied "probably morning sickness."
Rebekah put her palm against Hayleys forehead, checking her temperature. "Oh, you're burning up, actually." Rebekah told the werewolf.
"You should go rest, wolfie" Astrid told Hayley who nodded.
Astrid and Scott watched Rebekah help Hayley get to her room in silence, until Astrid's phone rang.
"Yes, Niklaus?" Astrid said over the phone.
"Meet me near the church where those priests were murdered." He said as he hung up, she didn't even have time to ask him why.
"I'll be back soon" she told Scott, giving him a quick peck on the lips before vamp speeding out of the plantation house.
She arrived at the church a few minutes later, Niklaus already waiting for her with a smile on his face. "Sister. Glad you could make it." He smiled.
"Well, You didn't exactly give me a choice. You basically ordered me to come here." She said with narrowed eyes.
"I apologise" he smiled "next time, I'll ask if you want to help your big brother." He said with a pout, making Astrid roll her green eyes.
"Lets go in, shall we?" She said, walking up the stairs of the church. They stood outside for a while, listening to the priest and some other people speak.
"So, a few tourists go missing, Okay. We can spin it, no problem, but you know how hard it is to sell a gas-leak story to the city council when a bunch of church windows magically explode?" One of the men asked the priest.
"Come on, Mr. Mayor." The priest said "What is this, an electoral debate? Marcel overstepped, I will handle it."
"Let's go." Astrid smiled at her brother as they entered the church.
"Easier said than done." Niklaus spoke loudly, everyone looking in the siblings' direction as they entered the church.
"Marcel is quite the little warrior" Astrid added with a small smile. One of the guards grabbed her shoulder so she pushed him away and made him sit down on one of the benches using her magic.
"Who the hell are you?" The mayor asked, standing up and staring at the siblings.
"My name is Klaus, this is my sister Astrid, and you lot are the faction--" he spoke, now standing at the front of the church with Astrid by his side. "Pillars of the community who maintain the city's supernatural balance. I should know." Klaus smiled.
"We created this group, only in our days, it was a bunch of pirates and corrupt politicians." Astrid cut in, looking around the room "looks like nothing's changed." Astrid and Klaus chuckled.
"One thing has." The priest spoke. "It's now exclusively human now-- no vampires allowed, especially no originals."
"That's discrimination" Astrid said, pretending to be offended.
"And we haven't come here to join, anyways." Klaus laughed. "We've come to ask this group to utilise it's considerable resources to find a witch Elder named Agnes. All I need is an address."
"And why would we want to help you?" The priest asked.
Astrid scoffed and took two steps forward "What if I told you that Agnes was the answer to a question you've been asking since you ran screaming from this town, that she is the witch who hexed your nephew Sean?" She chuckled when she saw the shocked expression of the priest.
The priest gulped and turned around to look at the rest of the group before looking back at the tribrid "we'd need some time to discuss--"
"We don't have time!" Niklaus yelled, scaring the humans in the room. Astrid grabbed her brothers hand, squeezing it slightly.
"Nor do we like being asked to wait." Astrid said in a calm voice.
"You may have all the vampires in this town cowering in fear, but right now, you are dealing with the humans, and unless you plan on killing all of us, I politely suggest you do as I say and give us time to discuss it." The priest said, making Astrid smirk.
"Do you know what I like about you, father?" Nik asked, pulling his hand away from Astrid's and walking in the direction of the exit. "Is that you're aware of my reputation and yet still you stand tall against me. It's admirable. You have one hour" Nik said.
"They know about you Nik, but they don't know about me." Astrid chuckled, every human now looking in her direction. "You see, I don't just have the vampires cowering in fear, I also have the witches and the werewolves cowering in fear. I mean, I'm stronger than all of them combined." She chuckled. "So, if you don't make a decision before we're back, I won't kill you, no no no. I will kill, I don't know... maybe Camille?" She smiled, looking at the priest who gulped in fear. "Or your wife, Mayor" she chuckled. "Or maybe I'll just find my hybrids and tell them to make your lives a living hell... so many possibilities." She said in a deeper tone. "Have a good day!" She smiled sweetly and left the church with her brother.
"You know, Nik..." Astrid said, gaining her brother's attention as they walked. "How about we get some help from a banshee?" Astrid asked.
Nik smiled as he looked at his sister "Good idea."
➖➖➖
Astrid, Nik and Lydia walked inside the church, Lydia kept close to the Astrid, not wanting to get lost or kidnapped by something.
"Going somewhere?" Klaus asked when he saw the priest who was about to leave the church.
"You're early." The priest commented.
"Well, it's a good thing we are. You seem hell-bent on enacting vengeance all on your lonesome. The trouble is, we need something from Agnes before you send her off to meet her maker. So I propose we strike a deal. Bring her here." He said as he sat down on the bench, Astrid and Lydia remained stood up. "In exchange, I'll even ensure your niece cami remains safe from my sister. I would so hate for her to get caught up in all this." He smirked.
"How am I supposed to help you guys?" Lydia whispered into Astrid's ear.
"If something goes wrong, I will need you to scream..." Astrid said, locking eyes with the strawberry blonde who nodded her head.
➖➖➖
"This is outrageous." Agnes said in a panicked voice as one of the police officers made her sit on the bench with the rest of the people who were with her. "What's the charge?"
Niklaus, Astrid and Lydia were in a room where the priest usually spent time between masses. They were waiting for the right time to leave.
"Please, Agnes." The priest said "You know that Marcel runs the vampires in this town. Who do you think runs everything else?" He asked as one of the police officers walked towards him, handing him a syringe. "I believe this is what you're looking for." The priest said a bit louder.
Nik smiled at his sister before vamp speeding towards the priest and picking up the syringe "Hello, Agnes." Nik smiled.
"You made a deal with him?" Agnes asked with wide eyes as Nik chuckled.
"After what you did to Sean, I'd deal with the devil himself just to see you suffer." The priest said angrily, walking towards the witch.
"You can't hurt me. The entire witch community will turn against you." She said as she stood up.
"I won't." Astrid said, now standing next to the priest. "And I'm a lot stronger than your pathetic witches."
"Enough!" Nik shouted. "Please, enough. Don't make us use a banshee just to shut you up." Nik rolled his eyes.
"A ban-"
"I don't care about witch politics." Nik interrupted Agnes. "I don't care about your ridiculous, little harvest ritual. What I care about is this trinket." He said, holding up the syringe. "Undo its curse, or I'll show you things worse than death."
The elder witch scoffed "dark objects don't come with an off switch. The curse took root in Sophie. She's linked to your devil child. It's a matter of time."
Lydia couldn't take it anymore, the anger she felt. She was mad, how could she punish an innocent child. It's not the child's fault that it's father is a monster. After all, not all monsters do monstrous things, the child might grow up to be the kindest creature on earth. She walked out of the room, breathing heavily. She gritted her teeth and then let out a piercing scream.
Everyone in the church covered their ears as pain cursed through their bodies. Blood began flowing down their necks as it travelled out of their ears.
The pain faded when Lydia stopped screaming. Astrid vamp sped towards her and cupped her face, worried about the banshee.
