《The Monster Inside ➺ Scott. M》Chapter 36

Astrid and Scott were currently walking through the city of New Orleans. He breathed heavily as they walked among humans; he tried not to focus on their blood.
Astrid walked in front of him when she saw his eyes turn red, black veins emerging under his eyes as his pupil shone bright red due to his werewolf side. She cupped his cheeks gently, making him look at her.
"Scott" she said quietly, caressing his cheeks with her thumbs. "Focus on my voice" she smiled gently at him. "Imagine it's like a full moon. Use your anchor" he looked straight into her eyes as the veins under his eyes disappeared.
"Thank you" he whispered, holding her hands in his.
She smiled back at him "what's your anchor?" Astrid asked the man, curious of what or who it was.
"My mom" he answers as Astrid grabbed his hand and they began walking back to the Mikaelson mansion. "I always think of how I don't want to hurt her. She's what keeps me human" he answers, Astrid smiled; wishing her relationship with her mother was like that as well.
Suddenly, Marcel walked in front of the couple. Astrid glared at the younger vampire. "Marcel" Astrid fake smiled. "Scott, this is Marcel. Marcel, this is Scott" Astrid introduced the two.
They shook hands, Marcel smiling the entire time. "It's nice seeing you again, Astrid." Marcel smiled.
"You saw me yesterday, Marcellus." Astrid furrowed her eyebrows as she took a hold of Scott's hand again and began walking.
"Scott." Marcel called. The couple turned around to look at the vampire. "I wouldn't get too close to the Mikaelsons if I were you. I made that mistake once and I still regret it" Marcel said as he sped away from the two.
Astrid shook her head in annoyance and walked away with Scott.

Astrid sat on a couch with her friends, Klaus sitting in front of her with a smile.
"Let me get this straight." Malia said. "You're just going to ask this Marcel guy to give you your brother back?" She asked the dirty-blonde vampire.
"Yes. That's exactly the plan, love" Niklaus smiled at the werecoyote.
"What if he won't give you him back? What then?" Lydia asked.
"Well, there's always a plan B" Niklaus answered with a smirk, making Astrid sigh loudly, already knowing what plan B is.

"What's plan B?" Kira asked.
"What, are you just gonna, like, fly in the mysterious place where your brother is held and just take him?" Stiles asked and Niklaus shook his head, still staring at his sister.
"What's plan B?" Scott asked.
Astrid cleared her throat, making everyone look at her. "War. Plan B is war" She told them with an emotionless expression, not breaking eye contact with her brother.

Rebekah rushed into the livingroom with Niklaus as they stared at the group of friends. They were about to leave the Mansion but Rebekah needed her sister.
"What is it, Bekah?" Astrid asked the blonde vampire who just stopped her from leaving the white building.
"I need you to perform a locator spell to find our brother. I'm not sure why you didn't think of it yourself..." Rebekah told her, hands in her jeans pockets.
"Huh... to be completely honest with you, sister. I'm not sure why I haven't though of that earlier." Astrid said as she sat down.
"And while you, dear sister, will be performing the minor spell; a different witch will be performing a much bigger spell. Concealing your magic from Davina so no one will find out you were ever doing your witchy woo" Niklaus smiled.
"Sounds good to me" Astrid smiled at her siblings as the rest of her friends also sat down. "We'll do the spell tonight, then. When Marcel is at his little party" Astrid smiled.

Astrid put a map of New Orleans on a table in the living room along with a couple candles. After her brother called her to tell her that she can do the locator spell, She began putting everything she needed on the table.
"There's a pool at the back. You don't have to watch me" Astrid told her friends who sat on the couch, watching her with curious looks.
"Actually..." Stiles said. "We wanted to see you do the... spell thingy" he told her as the others nodded.
"Alright." She said as she kneeled down next to the table. She grabbed a knife and stabbed her index finger, letting some blood fall onto the map. She breathed in deeply and began chanting "Où tu fuis, A pouvoir la trouver. Yonn souri nan zeb." She chanted as the blood began moving. "Où tu fuis, A pouvoir la trouver. Yonn souri nan zeb.Où tu fuis, A pouvoir la trouver. Yonn souri nan zeb." She repeated as the blood finally stopped. She grinned, knowing Elijah's whereabouts.

She picked up her phone and called Niklaus. She smiled when he answered the phone. "I know where he is... kind of" Astrid told her brother.
"That's good, sister." Niklaus told his sister. "But you won't need to go anywhere, little sister. I saved Marcel, he's going to give him back as a thank you gift" Niklaus told her sister before hanging up.
"What's going on?" Lydia asked.
"This was unnecessary. They're going to give us our brither back." Astrid smiled widely. "You all do know that you don't have to stay here, right?" She asked and they all nodded. "It's quite dangerous here right now and a war between werewolves, vampires or witches can start any minute." Astrid warned them.

Rebekah walked into the living room and sat next to Astrid, laying her head on her older sister's shoulder.
"Well, tonight was an epic failure" Rebekah said quietly.
Suddenly, Niklaus also walked in and smiled at his sisters. "On the contrary, sister. Tonight was a masterpiece."
"Katie died. Yes, Astrid found out where Elijah is but..." Rebekah argued.
"Actually. I know where about he is. Not the exact place" Astrid interrupted.
"Exactly." Rebekah said.
"I'm we'll aware." Niklaus said. "I killed Katie."
"Really, Nik? Do you have no self control whatsoever?" Astrid asked the dirty-blonde.
"There's no way our little suicide witch wasn't gonna try and take out Marcel with her." Niklaus spoke about the witch who was a distraction so that Astrid's spell would go undetected. "I saved his life and in doing so, I now have him exactly where I want him." Niklaus added as he poured himself some whiskey.
"I trusted you against all my better instincts." Rebekah said as she stood up.
"Wake up, Rebekah" Niklaus said softly. "The witches are on no one's side but their own." Niklaus told his sister. "This girl Davina, that's all they want, and when they do have her, what do you think happens then? Truce? Of course not. They will use Davina's power against all of us."
"Even if you're right, the plan was to find Elijah, and you failed us." Rebekah argued. Astrid rolled her eyes, she definitely did not miss their constant bickering.
"You always did lack faith." Nik said through gritted teeth. "By protecting Marcel, I've cemented his trust, so much so that he's agreed to return Elijah to us, and when the time is right, when he has told me everything I need to know about Davina, I will have her for myself."
"I have all the faith in the world that you'll get what you want, Nik." Rebekah said, walking closer towards Nik. "You always do, you and Astrid always do; no matter what it costs the rest of us." She paused and whispered "You disgust me." She drank the whiskey that Nik poured into a glass.
"You're overreacting Bekah" Astrid told her sister as she left the room "You always overreact..."

After Niklaus left the room, Hayley walked in with an old book; Elijah's old diary. "I found this a few hours ago." Hayley said as she gave her the book, sitting down next to the tribrid.
"There are moments when I doubt if my family is capable of redemption..." Astrid read aloud, everyone in the room listening "Yet each time that I am tempted to surrender, I see it, the glimmer of goodness that allows me to believe" she read, tears starting to form in her eyes as she closed the book. "Why did you show me this, Hayley?" Astrid asked
"To show you that your brother believes in you.... all of you" Hayley said, staring at Astrid as she sroked the pages of the diary.
"I know he does" Astrid smiled "he always did. Even when we did the most horrible of things. Even when we only showed our monstrous side, he always believed; never losing faith in us. That's why everyone loves him. He's our light" Astrid smiled. "I miss him" Astrid choked out as a few tears fell on the pages.
"We'll get him back. Marcel promised, right? Don't you trust him or your brother?" Hayley questioned.
"1000 years of living taught me not to fully trust anyone, Hayley. Including my own family. Even those closest to you might stab you in the back" Astrid smiled sadly and gave Hayley the diary back.

Avine: The Journey
Avine, the name recorded in the oldest records of faith concerning the creation of the world. The lands of Avine are in turmoil. A lengthy war recently ended. Casualties were terrible, but not limited to the dead alone. Breakdowns occurred in society, and kingdoms struggled with civil unrest and a never-ending stream of refugees. Mariel Bluegale has lived a relatively uneventful life. Largely sheltered from prejudice by her parents Serin and Arwaro, she grew up in a kingdom that prospered thanks to its strictly neutral policy. But the winds of war are once more on the horizon. Peace is merely the prelude to a new, even bigger conflict, one which may be decided on the identity of one. Release schedule: One chapter a week for the forseeable future. Reality caught up with me, this means I have to scale back my writing time considerably. I promise to finish it, but it will be in pieces, and likely around holidays. As always, any -painful- errors (spelling, flow, consistency or time) please let me know.
