the last chapter :)

"Thank you, seniors, for performing that amazing dance routine for us!" The principle says, beginning to clap and so do the rest of school. The clapping goes on for about five seconds until it dies down.

"Now, we are going to have the slow dance for everyone!" The principle says and everyone begins to stand up from their seats, walking to the middle of the gymnasium. I notice some people sneak out instead of going to the middle and I can't help but chuckle.

Typical.

As I stand up, Nicole comes rushing over to me and pulls me aside. "Guess what I heard?" Nicole asks and I furrow my eyebrows.

"What?" I ask and Nicole grins.

"The 'evidence' that Jackson got from me, it paid off. James was arrested for the murder of your father, the kidnapping of you, Bennet and Luke, and the abuse towards me." Nicole says and my eyes widen.

"Really?" I gasp and Nicole nods. I bring her into a hug and smile.

"Oh my god, you don't know how much this means to me." I say and Nicole chuckles.

"I'm just glad I could do something to help." Nicole says, pulling away from me and my smile widens.

"Thank you, Nicole." I say and Nicole sends me one last smile before walking off to the middle of the gymnasium.

All of a sudden, Luke grabs my hand and drags me to the middle of the gymnasium where half the school has already gathered. A slow song, like in the movies, begins to play and Luke's arms go around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I wrap my arms around his neck and rest my head on his shoulder, a small smile on my face.

As I look around, I notice a few people doing the same and when my eyes land on Nicole's, she sends me a small, genuine smile. I return it and she nods before turning to the guy that she is holding onto. I don't recognise him but what I do recognise is her ex, Derek, glaring at the two with his arms crossed over his chest.

"What are you thinking about?" Luke asks, his voice quiet. I shrug and close my eyes, Luke's cologne filling my nose. Wow, it's actually not that bad...

"Nothing special." I reply and Luke chuckles.

"Oh really? So I don't count as special?" Luke asks and I open my eyes and look up at Luke, my eyebrow raising.

"Not everything is about you, Luke. Remember that." I say with a smirk and Luke's eyes widen.

"Harsh, Gracie. Harsh." Luke says but I know he is only joking by the smile on his face. When I lean my head back on Luke's shoulder, a million questions flood into my mind but the one that sticks out the most is the one that I asked myself before I left the house.

"Hey Luke," I call. "How were you capable of choosing this dress for me?" I chuckle and Luke raises his eyebrows at me.

"Are you saying you don't like it?" Luke asks and I shake my head.

"No, I'm saying that I find it interesting that a player, like yourself, has the... uh, mind to choose something like this." I say, hiding my grin and Luke let's out a chuckle.

"Don't always listen to the rumors, Gracie. Hence the reason why they are called 'rumors'." Luke says and I furrow my eyebrows.

"And thats suppose to mean what?" I ask and Luke breathes out a heavy sigh.

"People call me a player, yes, but that's only because of what happened one night when I was drunk." Luke says and my eyes widen.

Luke... isn't a player? Is that what he is trying to tell me?

"What happened?" I ask, the music still making our bodies sway. Luke looks down at me for a brief second before looking to the side.

"There was this one girl and she was like a queen to everybody. She was gorgeous, powerful and she always knew how to spread rumors around like wild-fire. You see, I was a party and she forced herself onto me and what I didn't know was that she was drunk because I was drunk too. After the party, the next day at school everyone was saying how I 'raped' the girl even though she forced herself onto me. Of course no one believed me and thats when I owned the label as the player of the school." Luke explains quietly and I furrow my eyebrows.

"Who was the girl?" I ask and Luke let's out a sigh, closing his eyes.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you. No one does." Luke mumbles and I frown. I stand on my toes and press my lips to his before pulling away. Luke's eyes open and he frowns down at me.

"I will believe you, Luke." I whisper and Luke sighs again.

"If I tell you, you can't go and confront that person." Luke says and I nod. Luke bites his lip and closes his eyes again.

"Nicole."

The time flew by quickly and now, it's the end of the night. Everyone is leaving and a few people are packing away the tables and chairs. Luke and I are sitting on the stage though, just watching everyone. Our hands are holding each other's and I'm leaning my head on Luke's shoulder, keeping my gaze on the balloons that are on the floor.

"You know what's funny?" I hear Luke asks and I look up at him, a small smile on my face.

"What?" I ask and Luke looks down at me, his own smile on his face.

"I wasted my breath blowing up half of the balloons even though I knew they weren't going to get used." Luke chuckles to himself and I let out a laugh.

"Thats not funny. That's just sad." I say, my laughter dying down and Luke stops laughing and looks down on the floor.

"Oh," He mumbles. "That is sad." Luke says and I chuckle.

"Told you so." I say, a smile spreading across my face and Luke looks over at me and stares at me, his own small smile on his face. He doesn't say anything and neither do I. I look into his blue eyes and notice the sadness in them.

Wait, if he is smiling, why is he sad?

I still don't say anything and when Luke's lips meet mine, I can't help but close my eyes, immediately losing focus of what was currently thinking about.

God, I love him so much.

Luke pulls away and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. "I love you." Luke says and I smile.

"I love you too." I say and before we can say anything else, the gymnasium doors open. A guy raises his hands in the air and smirks.

"Fight outside!" He screams before running out and all of sudden, everyone stops what they are doing and bolts to the scene. I look over at Luke and he nods, jumping down from the stage. I do the same and grab his hand again.

"I wonder who is fighting who." Luke says and I shrug.

"I don't know for sure but my bet is on Derek and the guy that was holding onto Nicole tonight." I say and for a split second, Luke looks down at me with wide eyes.

"Really?" He asks and I nod, walking out of the gymnasium.

"If looks could kill, that guy would've died in a heartbeat." I say with a chuckle and Luke begins to jog to the entrance of the school.

"You have got to be kidding me!" Luke says and I begin to run after him, holding the bottom of my dress down with my hands. When we reach the entrance, I notice a crowd of students in a circle. I head someone chant 'Derek' and I instantly know that my guess was correct.

I deserve a medal.

Luke calls my name and the thoughts go to the back of my head as I look at Luke who is calling me over, trying to get through the crowd. I run over to him and watch as Luke begins to push through the crowd, his hand reaching out to grab mine. He pulls me through the crowd and I feel someone hit my stomach, making me wince.

Before I can give the person a piece of my mind, I find myself in the circle with Nicole, Derek, the guy that was holding onto Nicole and Luke. I watch as Derek throws a punch towards the guy but before Derek can hit him, Luke jumps in and grabs his hand, stopping Derek. I look over at Nicole who is currently screaming at Derek to stop and my eyes land on the guy who has his hands up lazily, blood rushing out of his nose.

"Don't do this, Derek. You could kill the guy." Luke tries to say and Derek growls, pushing Luke away.

"Thats exactly what I plan on doing!" Derek screams, making the crowd go wild. Nicole notices me and runs over to me, holding onto my arm. She doesn't say anything to me. Instead, she continues to scream at Derek who is making his way over to the guy.

"Derek, stop!" Nicole screams but of course he doesn't listen. Luke goes to Derek again but instead of Luke stopping Derek's fist from hitting the guy's face, his fist hits Luke's head and I gasp.

*

Luke immediately gets knocked down to the crowd and all of a sudden, I feel my body running over to Derek and I raise my leg, kicking him the balls. Nicole runs over to the guy and grabs his arm, running away from the scene and I look over at Luke who is on the ground, his eyes closed.

I crouch down to him, the tears beginning to form in my eyes. "Luke, get up." I say, slapping his cheek. Luke doesn't move and I grab his hand, looking up at the crowd.

"Call the fucking ambulance!" I scream and all of a sudden, the crowd begins to grab their phones out. I look back down at Luke and shake his shoulder.

"Luke, get up!" I say louder, hoping that he will just get up. I grab his head and place it on my lap, stroking his blonde hair out of his face.

"Luke," I say weakly. "Don't do this to me." I say, the tears beginning to fall. I grab his arm and place to fingers on his vein, hoping to feel a heartbeat. Luckily, I do but instead of feeling a normal heartbeat, it seems to be going quite slow.

My heart begins to race and I run my hand over his lips. "Help is on the way, Luke."

Help is on the way...

"What is happening to my baby!" Bree screams at the lady who is behind the counter. I watch with tired eyes as she bangs her fist on the table.

"Answer me!" Bree screams louder and the lady let's out a sigh.

"I don't know, ma'am. Just take a seat and-"

"I don't want to take a seat! I want to know how my son is doing!" Bree continues to scream and Nicole holds onto my hand.

"He will be okay, Grace." Nicole says and I look over at her, my face emotionless. "He is a fighter." Nicole says and I let out a sigh.

"Thats what everyone keeps telling me." I mumble and stand up. Nicole sends me a frown and I wave her off.

"I'm going to get a drink." I say and Nicole nods. As I walk past Bree, I can't help but notice how broken she looks...

"He will be okay, Grace."

I rub my eyes and walk down the hallway towards the machine, looking at the selections. I click on the 'hot chocolate' and watch as the cup begins to get filled with the ingredients. As I wait for my drink, I look to my left and notice Bennet and Eve walk over to me.

I grab my drink once it has finished being prepared and walk over to my brother and Eve. "Hey," I mumble and Bennet frowns at me.

"Are you okay?" He asks and I shrug.

"I would lie but there is no point. The person I love is in a hospital room with doctors who probably don't even know how to do their job. So, to answer your question, no. I'm not okay." I say and Bennet brings me into a hug, aware that I have a hot drink in my hand.

"Everything is going to be okay," Bennet says before pulling away. I let out a sigh and bite my lip.

"Just... stop saying that." I say. "Everyone has said that and I'm on the verge of breaking down." I say and Eve places a hand on my shoulder.

"Its okay to cry, Grace." Eve says and I nod.

"Yes, but I have spent an hour crying. I'm done crying. I'm just going to hold it all in now." I say and Eve sighs, removing her hand from my shoulder.

Suddenly, I hear Bree let out a scream and I turn around to see that the doctors are finally leaving the room. Bree runs up to one of the doctors and grabs them by the shoulders.

"How is he? Is he okay? Can I see him?" Bree asks in a hurry and I walk over to her, standing by her side as we wait for the doctor to say what he has to. The doctor let's out a sigh and runs a hand through his hair.

"Are you his mother?" He asks and Bree nods. He turns to me and raises a brow.

"And you are?" He asks and I hold onto my drink, looking up at the doctor.

"Girlfriend." I say and the doctor nods. He looks over at Bree and points to the room that he just walked out of.

"We will give you five minutes with your son. He is still unconscious but you may spend those minutes with him if you wish." The doctor says and Bree quickly runs into the room. Before I can go look into the room, the doctor stops me.

"We would prefer if you see him after his mother." The doctor says and I let out a sigh, nodding. I step away from the doctor and take a sip of my drink. The doctor closes the door so no one can enter and I sit back down in the seat, next to Nicole.

Bennet leans against the wall in front of me and runs a hand through his hair. "I hope everything is okay." Bennet says quietly to Eve, probably thinking that I can't hear him. "I mean, for Grace's sake." Bennet adds and Eve let's out a sigh.

"Same." Eve mumbles and before I can take another sip, a few doctors rush into the room that Bree entered and I rise to my feet, watching as Bree let's out a scream. The doctors close the door once Bree is out and I watch as Bree falls to the ground, the tears finally falling.

When I go to crouch down next to Bree, I stop when I hear the doctors say 'clear'. My eyes widen and my hands begin to shake.

"I hope everything is okay."

"Everything is going to be okay."

"He will be okay, Grace."

Suddenly, the door opens and the doctors run to the reception desk. They ask for something and when they go to run back into the room, the doctor that we were just talking to before stops them.

"Its no use." The doctor mutters and he let's out a sigh.

"He's... gone."
