《Saving Gracie | ✓》Chapter Forty Five: Should I Get It?

A week passed by quickly and now, I find myself looking at the flyer on one of the walls on a Wednesday morning. My eyes scan the words of the purple flyer and I let out a sigh, ripping it off the wall.
I hope they cancel that damn school dance.
"Hey! Now I have to print out another one!" A girl comments, walking past me and I don't bother to look at her. I throw the flyer in the bin and continue to walk to class, hating every single stare that is coming my way.
Why the hell is everyone staring at me?
"If you have a problem with my girlfriend, speak up, yeah?" I hear a voice say behind me and I turn around and attack Luke with a hug, throwing my arms around his neck. Luke laughs and kisses my hair, rubbing my back.
"Hello, Gracie." Luke says and I lean back, looking at my boyfriend.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!" I say and Luke laughs, scratching the back of his neck with his free hand.
"Thats because we haven't seen each other since Jackson paid a visit. I thought you would be too busy with the baby thing so..." Luke trails off and I roll my eyes.
"Your a liar." I say and Luke shakes his head, placing a hand on his heart.
"I lie not, Gracie. It's the honest truth." Luke smiles and I roll my eyes playfully before grabbing his hand and walking to our first class. We enter the gymnasium and stand with the other students who are waiting for our teacher to arrive.

After running ten laps around the field and doing about fifty push-ups, I have officially become jelly. My legs are shaking from running around and my arms are so sore. I now know how the football team feels after finishing their training.
I let out a sigh and place my hands over my head, blocking out the sun. The grass beneath me tickles my legs and I shake them, trying to get rid of the weird tingling feeling.
"Tired?" I hear someone ask and I move one hand away and look at one of Nicole's friends grinning down at me. I frown and sit up, placing a hand over my face to cover it from the sun as I look up at the stranger. Suddenly, the memory hits me like a bus and I gasp, immediately standing up and stepping away from the girl.

"Please," I choke out, placing my hands in front of me. "Just... leave me alone. I don't want any trouble." I say quickly before running away from the girl. I ignore the pain in my legs and continue to run up the hill and into the school building. I ignore the strange looks coming from the students and run into the girls bathroom, opening one of the stalls and closing the door behind me.
I sit on the toilet and let out a sigh, running my hand over my hair. I close my eyes and take in a deep breath, trying to block out the memories of what happened last year.
After a few seconds, I hear a door open and a familiar voice call my name. "Grace, are you in here?" Nicole asks and I stay quiet, just wanting to be left alone. I wait for Nicole's heels to stop clicking against the bathroom tiles but they continue to be heard. She walks around the bathroom and when I hear the first bathroom door slam against the wall, I instantly know that she is going to find me.
"Grace..."
I calculate the amount of time it should take for her to get to my stall and I begin to count down as she pushes the doors open. I start from ten and count down to one, jumping up slightly from the sound of the doors hitting against the wall.
When I realise that she is up to mine, I let out a sigh and open my eyes. I wait for Nicole to speak but she doesn't and I frown in confusion. A few seconds later, a paper slides under the door and I look at it, my eyebrows furrowing.
Should I get it?
"Just pick it up, Grace." I hear Nicole say and I immediately grab it, opening the folded note. I look at Nicole's scribbled writing and squint my eyes, trying to recognise the words.
Come out and we will talk, okay? - Nicole
I let out a sigh and clear my throat, standing up. I open the stall door and look at Nicole who is smiling at me. "Thank you." Nicole says and I nod, walking out of the stall. I look at myself in the mirror and begin to run the tap, washing my face with the warm water. As I do this, Nicole begins to talk.
"I saw Ember near you, Grace. You looked pretty disturbed by her presence and I'm thinking that it was because of what happened last year, am I right?" Nicole asks and I pause, my hands running under the warm water. I turn the water off and grab some paper towel, drying my face and my hands before turning to Nicole.

"Don't speak of that day. I... I don't want to remember it at all." I say and Nicole sighs, nodding.
"I know but-"
"Nicole, I said no." I say sternly and before Nicole can say anything, I turn on my heel, throw the paper towel in the bin and walk out of the bathroom. I ignore Nicole's voice calling my name and begin to walk back to the gymnasium where Luke is.
I don't want to remember...

"Why do we have to go back to Daniel's?" I ask Luke as he turns a corner, entering Daniel's street. We stop in front of his house and Luke cuts the engine, turning to face me.
"We just have to." Luke says and he gets out of the car. I let out a sigh and get out of the car, standing beside Luke who is looking at Daniel's house. We walk up the porch and Luke knocks on the door loudly. We both wait for a couple of seconds before the door opens, revealing a tired-looking Daniel.
"Hey guys." Daniel greets, stepping to the side so we can enter. I sit down on the couch and Luke does the same, glancing over at Randy and Jackson who is huddled up near the television talking about something that looks pretty serious.
"They are talking about the business." Daniel clears up for Luke and he nods, leaning into the couch. Daniel does the same and rubs his eyes, a frown etched across his face.
"So... why are you here?" Daniel asks and Luke glances over at me. He let's out a sigh and leans his face closer to my ear.
"Can you go into the kitchen? I... I have to talk to Daniel about something private." Luke whispers in my ear and I nod, standing up. I make my way into the kitchen and close the door behind me, walking over to the table. I sit on the stool and grab the water jug that is on the table and the cup beside it. I pour myself a cup and before I can drink it, a hand reaches out and snatches the cup out of my grip. I turn to see Randy frowning at me.
"Tequila." He says and I frown.
"What?"
"Tequila. What you were about to drink was tequila. You know... alcohol?" Randy trails off and I make an 'o' shape with my mouth, finally understanding. I nod and cross my arms over my chest, feeling quite cold.
"Could you maybe get me a glass of water, please? I am a little tired from school today." I say with a chuckle and Randy nods, placing the glass on the counter and walking over to the cabinet and grabbing out a glass. He fulls it up with water before handing it to me and I thank him, taking a sip.
"So..." I begin. "What's this business you boys are in?" I ask, a little interested. Randy scratches the back of his neck awkwardly.
"I sort of can't tell you that." Randy explains and I find myself frowning at Randy's words.
"Oh..." I say and Randy let's out a short sigh.
"I mean, it's not like I don't want to tell you, it's just that I can't." Randy clears up and I wave him off, nodding.
"I understand. It's fine." I say and Randy nods.
"Okay." Randy says and all of a sudden, an awkward silence appears in the air, making me feel very uncomfortable. I think Randy begins to feel this way too because he begins to look around the kitchen while tapping his foot nervously.
"Grace..." Randy says, cutting the silence. I look up at him, taking a sip of my water. Randy sighs and takes a seat next to me. "I'm sorry for doing all that stuff to you." Randy says and I swallow the water and let out a sigh.
"Randy, you've already apologized-"
"I know but I feel like saying it again. The pain I put you through and the nightmares... I feel like a horrible person. I promise though that I will never do that again-"
"Never do what again?" I hear a familiar voice ask and we both turn around to see Luke standing in the doorway with a concerned frown on his face. I gulp, remembering that I haven't told Luke about mine and Randy's past.
Luke looks between the both of us and I shake my head, waving him off. "Don't worry." I say and Luke shakes his head.
"No, tell me." Luke says and I find myself gulping again as I glance over at Randy who is looking down at the ground, ashamed.
I don't think I'm going to get out of this one...
