《Moon Child》31. Alpha Greg

A week passed faster than I expected. After everything was explained to my grandparents, they were more than happy to send me to the Miller's house. I think they were just happy I would be spending time with my mate. I slept in the guest room every night, as promised, but in return, Liam spent way too much time in there too. It was like pulling teeth getting him to leave my room when it was time for bed. Similarly, it was hard to get him to leave for school, too. But while he was away, I used the time to practice my magic in the backyard. I could tell that I was getting stronger. I also used my time to eat meat. I still wasn't comfortable enough to do it at the dinner table, but red meat was easier to eat now.
Finally, the day of the meeting arrived. I waited with Alpha Connor and his Beta at the conference table, the analog clock ticking away the seconds in the silence almost as if it were mocking me. Liam took Bella and Lily to the mall to stay away from the house. It was a few minutes before Luna Addie walked into the room trailed by Alpha Greg and his Beta. I had my mental barriers down to keep a read on the room.
So that's the girl, Alpha Greg thought as his eyes landed on me. Everyone greeted each other as I stayed quiet. Alpha Greg and his Beta sat on the opposite side of the table and waited as Luna Addie sat next to me.
"There's been talk around you pack that you're interested in my son's mate. Mind telling me why?" Alpha Connor asked getting straight to the point.
She took out an entire Alpha Family in wolf form, who wouldn't want her? Alpha Greg thought to himself.

"It was a mere curiosity. I heard she was deadly in wolf form. I was just curious as to the exact extent," he said instead.
"Although that's true. I can't control her, so it would be useless to you. You may be the one getting hurt instead," I spoke up. Alpha Greg just laughed.
"I've heard other things as well from the high school aged kids in my pack. Apparently your pack talks as well. I heard she was only in school for a few months before dropping out for specialized training. A close friend of my daughters' also mentioned her as the girl with unexplainable powers and moon kissed eyes. How special is this specialized training?" he admitted.
"We do not run her training so we wouldn't be able to answer that," Luna Addie spoke up.
So it's true that she's being trained by the Moon Goddess then, Alpha Greg thought excitedly.
"How interesting indeed," he said.
"Being that Daniella is my son's mate, I find your curiosity worrisome," Alpha Connor said, lacing his fingers together under his chin.
"Is that so? Your son must have saved a nation in a past life to be as lucky as to be mates with this girl," Alpha Greg jokes. He was the only one who laughed.
"We are allies, are we not? Meaning I would help you if you were in trouble at a moment's notice, no questions asked. I would appreciate it if you did the same. No questions asked," Alpha Connor said sternly getting to his point.
"And would Daniella be a useful weapon to you or against you?" Alpha Greg countered.
"The Alpha Family is my family too," I spoke up.
"But if you can't control your wolf, who's to say you won't hurt them again?" He countered.

"That's for us to worry about," I replied easily. He thought to himself for a moment, going back and forth between getting involved and not before he stood with a sigh.
"I understand. Regardless, it was nice finally meeting you face to face," he said offering his hand for me to shake. I stood and took his hand, forgetting that my barriers were currently down. My vision blurred before a vision of him leading an attack on the pack appeared before me. While everyone else was fighting, he only had thoughts of slaughtering the Alpha family and taking me as a prize and a prisoner. The vision disappeared, leaving a fog in its place. Alpha Greg was staring at my eyes with excitement in his own.
"How very interesting indeed," he smirked before he left, tailed by his Beta. I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. After I heard his car drive away, I turned to Alpha Connor and Luna Addie.
"He saw my eyes. I forgot to put my barrier back, but I saw him. He's not going to let this go. He wants to kill everyone and take me as his own personal weapon," I explained. Alpha Connor stood before pinching the table. It cracked like a twig under his force.
"It's not your fault, Dani. Alpha Greg has always been somewhat greedy, and you're the equivalent of the Holy Grail to him," Luna Addie said, trying to make me feel better.
"What do we do? I can help some ways, but I can't save everyone if he goes through with his plan," I admitted.
"Don't worry, Dani. We'll be ready for him," Alpha Connor said, glaring at the door.
"Do you think it would be possible to keep this from Liam?" I asked. Luna Addie looked at me sympathetically before she shook her head.
"With extra training exercises for the warriors, a posted guard, and around the clock barrier patrols, he would be suspicious anyway. We're going to have to tell him, Dani," Luna Addie explained. I sighed and turned back to Alpha Connor.
"What about the alliance?" I asked him.
"For now, we'll pretend that we've let the issue go and get ready in secret. Also the kids can still interact, but that's just as to not cause any suspicion. He's expecting us to be completely unprepared, so we won't give him any reason to come at us any harder. If anyone outside of the warriors ask, we're beefing up boarder security due to rogues," Alpha Connor said, making his plans out loud. I nodded with a sigh.
Now to figure out how to tell Liam...

Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
