《Rejecting Evangeline | ✓》Chapter 8

My eyes flutter open as I naturally woke up to the bright light from the sun, streaming through the sheer curtains. I squinted my eyes as I looked around blearily. I realized that I was not in the hospital anymore but back in the comforts of my room. I reached up and touched my neck, where the wound had been and grinned when I felt nothing but smooth skin. I smiled, my pack members have done so much for me, and today, I wanted to do something special in order to thank them properly.

As I brainstormed some ideas, I suddenly came up with the idea to cook the best breakfast for them. Cooking is something that I genuinely enjoy doing, despite the fact that I was forced to do it every day for the Moonlight Pack. I love creating new recipes and especially love using the Moonlight pack members as guinea pigs, testing my new and interesting creations on them. I grinned mischievously as I remembered the day I made a dish that made everyone get diarrhea. Oopsie daisies! That stunt made me laugh for days and it was totally worth it, even if I got punished pretty badly for that one...

I stretched out my stiff limbs and decided that it was time to get out of bed. I did my morning routine, got dressed in a light blue slip-on dress, and pulled on my white vans. I tied my hair up in a casual messy ponytail and made my way downstairs to the kitchen. No one was awake yet, then again, it was only five in the morning. I leaned against the counter and thought about what I should make. I finally decided to make pancakes with strawberry flavored whipped cream, crisp strips of bacon, sunny side eggs, and chocolate milkshakes. I looked in the pantry and fridge and gathered all of the ingredients I would need.

I put on some music as I worked, connecting my iPhone to the beats pill and pressing shuffle. Best Song Ever by One Direction blasted from the speakers, I instinctively grabbed my spoon and started jamming out. "And we danced all night to the best song ever!" I belted out the lyrics at the top of my lungs, holding the wooden spoon as a microphone all while whipping my hair to the beat. I was so immersed in my music and dancing that I did not notice someone coming up from behind me.

"Evangeline? Is that you? What the heck are you doing at five in the morning?" I instantly froze and slowly turned around, my eyes wide open and mouth agape. Out of everyone, it had to be Blake. Standing there in his dark blue checkered pajama pants and topless, revealing his six perfect mouth-watering packs. I blushed when I realized that I have been staring for a while at his good like body and had been caught by a very amused Blake. I turned a bright fire-engine red and covered my eyes, looking away bashfully as I squealed out, "Blake! Please put a shirt on! How can you walk around looking like that!" Blake laughed cheekily, "Sorry Evangeline, I did not realize that my absent of shirt would fluster you that much." My face got even hotter, "Oh hush. You're not that attractive" I mumbled. Blake chuckled and ruffled my hair affectionately, "Whatever you say little one. Anyways care to explain what exactly you were doing at this hour?"

I laughed and playfully pushed his hand away from my mused up hair, "I was about to cook a special breakfast for the pack as a way to say thank you for everything you guys have done for this since I've arrived. I planned to cook while jamming out to my boys, the one and only, One Direction," I replied. "Aw, Evangeline, that is so sweet of you, you really did not have to do all this to thank us, you are part of our family now. Can I help you with anything?" he asked. I looked at him with my eyes almost popping out of their sockets, "But...did Charlotte say that you were banned from ever cooking again?" He pouted and started begging me, "I know, I know, but please give me another chance! Everyone deserves a second chance, right? I promise I won't make anyone sick this time!"

I thought to myself, making pancakes and eggs is not that hard and you would have to be really bad at cooking to mess up. I smiled at him, "Fine, you get a second chance, don't mess it up, Blake! I really want this breakfast to be special. You can work n the pancakes and the eggs. I will be in charge of the bacon, the strawberry whip cream, and the milkshakes." Blake gave me a thumbs up and a sharp salute, "Yes ma'am, say no more, I will get right to it." I giggled and gently hit him on the bum with the wooden spoon, "Stop stalling and get to work you!"

It was only when the fire alarm started ringing for the fourth time that morning that I realized that ever letting Blake cook was the biggest mistake have ever made in my life. That guy should stay banned from the kitchen forever. It was now eight and we finally finished cooking. He worked on one side of the kitchen while I worked on the other. I expected fluffy round pancakes and perfect sunny side eggs from him when I glanced over at his counter, but instead, I saw things that could give the most macho person in the world nightmares.

"What the heck is that? How is it even possible to create that? Why do the pancakes look like they have Satan's face imprinted on it and what on earth could have happened to the eggs? How can anyone mess up eggs? It's crack the egg, flip and done. Three steps Blake. Three. Yours look like a monster truck ran over them multiple times and then the whole earth's population of pigeons pecked at them." Blake laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck and backing away from me, "Well, for the pancakes, I tried making smiley faces but, I guess they ended up looking quite um...disturbing....and for the eggs, I... well I...tried to flip them and failed. They ended up being smashed with the spatula multiple times because I got frustrated when they wouldn't flip... so um I'm really really sorry?"

I glared at him, holding up my spatula and pointing it towards the corner, "Sorry? Is that all you have to say? You wasted perfectly good food. Goo to the naughty corner to reflect on your actions and stay there until I say your time is up." His eyes widen dramatically and in disbelief, "The naughty corner? But...but...I'm a grown-ass man and the Alpha! I refuse." I shot Blake a glare that would even send the devil to go into hiding. Blake finally raised his hands up in surrender, "Alright alright! I'll go! Stop looking at me like that, you are scaring the bejesus out of me." I grumbled under my breath, "My goodness, I can't believe this. He is a total lost cause when it comes to cooking, not even Gordan Ramsay can help him."

Blake walked over to a corner of the kitchen, muttering curse words and grumbling under his breath about how he was going to get his revenge and that it was not his fault that he was not blessed with cooking skills the whole way there. He stood there, facing the wall and sulking the entire time. I smirked, feeling proud of myself that I made a big strong Alpha go to the naughty corner. I then sigh as I realized that I had to redo the pancakes and the eggs before it was time for everyone to come down for breakfast. I threw away all of the food Blake made because I'm pretty sure that not even a starving lion would it eat that and started to make a new batch of pancakes and eggs. I wanted to make this breakfast perfect and now it was going to be late. As I was mixing the pancake batter, Jake, Tae, Maxwell, Charlotte, Jamie, and Sydney all walked in, chatting among themselves.

"Mmm! Something smells really good in here!" exclaimed Jake as he sniffed the air. They then collectively spotted Blake is sulking in the corner and burst into laughter. "What the heck happened to you Blake? Are you seriously in the naughty corner right now or am I seeing things now? Man, this is hilarious." Maxwell managed to get out while laughing hard and clutching his stomach. "Dude....remind me to never ever make Evangeline angry," Tae added while chuckling. Blake turned around, to face us, "Shut it. It is not my fault! Evangeline made me. And yeah Tae, Evangeline is not who everyone thinks she is, she is secretly the devil's child." He said grumpily as he glared pointedly at me. "Hey! You ruined perfectly good food so sending you to the naughty corner is a good punishment. Plus, I did give you another chance at cooking so stop complaining or else you won't get any food!" I retorted back playfully. Blake just grumbled under his breath and turned back to face the wall.

"I was trying to make a special breakfast for you guys to show my thanks! I made bacon and chocolate smoothies so far but I am still making the pancakes and eggs though. I hope you guys don't mind waiting a bit longer." I announced. "Aww that's so sweet and thoughtful of you, Evangeline, do you need any help? With my help we will have the pancakes and eggs done in no time!" said Charlotte cheerfully. I grinned, "Yes please, I actually could really use your help, if you do not mind!" Charlotte grinned back, "Of course not! Alrighty then! Let us get cooking!" I turned to everyone else, "For the rest of you, except Blake...get out of the kitchen before I cook you all and serve you guys for breakfast!" I shouted, giving everyone a semi-playful glare. Everyone left immediately, not daring to even argue with me. "I did not know Evangeline could be that scary..." I heard Maxwell whisper. "I did not even think she had it in her. I seriously think she woke up on the wrong side of the bed today..." whispered Sydney.

After some time, the food was finally done and perfect this time, to my great relief. It was all thanks to Charlotte's expertise in the kitchen. "Food is ready and served! Come and get it before I eat it all!" I hollered. Jake, Maxwell, Tae, Jamie, and Sydney all came charging in like a herd of wild rhinos, each speedingly grabbed a plate, piling loads of food on and then taking it to the dining room. I then turned to Blake, "Your time out is done Blake, grab a plate and you may go join the others." Blake just grumbled and walk over, filling his plate with five fluffy pancakes, topping them with freshly made strawberry flavored whip cream and on the side, he added a couple of bacon strips, and a sunny side egg. He then grabbed a chocolate milkshake and stalked off to the dining room, not even bothering to spare me a look or a word. Jeez, such a grumpy old man, he gets told off once and then acts like he was just sent to hell, I thought to myself.

Once everyone served had themselves and settled down in their seats, we all dug in like a hungry pack of wolves, which I suppose we technically are. Speaking of wolves..."Hi Winter!" I greeted cheerily."Morning Evangeline! You seem uh...a bit bipolar today don't you think human?" She replied."Pshh, I am not, I am perfectly fine, thank you." I answered, rolling my eyes. I could feel Winter shaking her head at my response in exasperation. "Man, this is delicious Evangeline and Charlotte!"Jake complimented us. "Yeah, this pancake is so fluffy and the bacon is perfectly crispy! Well done," added Tae. "Thank you the both of you for this!" said Sydney. "This was such a sweet thing to do! We love you!" exclaimed Jamie. "We love you Char and Evangeline!" everyone chanted at the same time, except for Blake, who was still being Mr. Grumpy.

After breakfast, my stomach felt like it could burst at any moment. Everyone helped out with the dishes by each washing their own plate, utensils, and a cooking tool or pan. "Thank you again Evangeline and Charlotte!" said Sydney and Tae in unison as they headed out to go on their date. "Yeah! We really appreciated it. See you later guys!" Jake and Jamie said as they both headed out to attend pack duty, leaving just Maxwell, Charlotte, Blake, and I by ourselves in the house.

We decided to just chill together, watching loads of classic Disney movies until lunchtime came around. "Guys, what do you want for lunch?" Charlotte asked. "Let's go on a picnic, it is going to be so fun!" I suggested spontaneously. Everyone grinned, "That is a great idea, Evangeline, we have not done one in such a long time and the weather today is perfect for that too!" said Blake. Charlotte and I made the food while Blake and Maxwell were in charge of gathering the blankets, drinks, and finding a spot for the picnic. "What should we make?" questioned Charlotte, while she was tying her apron around her waist. "Sandwiches and chocolate-dipped strawberry, I feel like those are the foods for a picnic!" I replied with a grin. "Alright then, sounds perfect, let's get cooking!" Charlotte cheered.

When everything was set and packed in the car, we all hopped in and headed to the place that the boys picked, which was the local park. When we arrived, the boys spread out the spacious red and white checkered blanket and then the girls set up the food and drinks on it. We all settled down and began eating, chatting together and generally enjoying ourselves in each other's company as while basking in the warm sunshine. "What is in this sandwich?" questioned Blake as he lifted up the bread to peer inside. "Um...butter, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ham," answered Charlotte, listing off the ingredients with her fingers. "Well, it is a great combo, it's delicious," Blake said with a smile as he took another big bite of the sandwich. "Thank you!" Charlotte replied, beaming.

Once we finished eating, we played an intense game of soccer to which Blake and I won against Charlotte and Maxwell. We got full bragging rights until the next game. We played until it started to get late and the sun had almost fully set. We packed up our things and headed back to the house. "I had a really good time today! We should definitely hang out like this again more often." I exclaimed, sighing with happiness. Everyone in the car mumbled in agreement and soon the car fell into a comfortable silence as the excitement of the day slowly wore off and the exhaustion hit.

I slowly drifted off, resting my head gently against the window and before I knew it, my mind was wandering off in dreamland. I did not know for how long I slept for but I felt the car stop and someone gently pick me up bridal style. I stirred and instinctively snuggled closer to the person's warmth. "Aww dude, she looks so cute." I heard someone say as he softly kissed me on the forehead, making me smile unconsciously in my sleep. "Yeah, and so does my mate." I am assuming Maxwell said. That must mean that I was in Blake's arms, I snuggled closer to his warmth and silently prayed that tomorrow will be just as perfect as today.
