《Finally Happy》Chapter 23

"Boys! Wake up!" Mikoto's voice could be heard from the floor below. Sasuke immediately woke up, his head swimming with confusion. Getting down from the top bunk, he went to his desk and saw his calendar.
'Today's Sunday. Why the hell do I need to wake up so early.' Sasuke angrily thought. Commotion could be heard from the bottom floor and suddenly Sasuke realised...
'Crap! Today's the trial!'
Looking to his side, he saw Naruto curled up on his bed. The light, erratic breathing indicated that the blonde was awake. Sitting by his side, he gently grapsed on Naruto's shoulder and turned him slowly to face the raven. Naruto turned willingly, looking at the raven.
"You don't need to be scared dobe. Father, mother, Itachi and I will all be there. Just relax." Sasuke said soothingly. Naruto sat up and nodded, smiling brightly at Sasuke.
"Thanks teme." The blonde said sincerely, his blue eyes gazing at Sasuke's. It had been a while since Naruto had smiled. It surprised the raven and he looked to the side, hiding his face in embarrassment. Naruto cocked his head to the side to look, confused my Sasuke's actions.
"Come one dobe. We need to get ready." Sasuke said as he got up and went to the washroom. Naruto's eyes followed Sasuke's movements. 'The hell is his problem?'
After showering, the raven got into his suit. He went out of the room to give the blonde some privacy to dress. Minutes later, a string of curses could be heard through the door. Sasuke smirked in amusement. Naruto came out and glared at Sasuke's amused face.
"Not funny teme!" All Sasuke could do was laugh. The tie around Naruto's slender neck was just a big knot. Before Sasuke could say anything, Mikoto came up the stairs. She laughed quietly and walked up to the pouting blonde and made his tie properly.
"Here! Now your ready. Go down and eat. We will be leaving in 30 minutes." Naruto beamed at the sound of food and rushed down. Sasuke stared in wonder. Mikoto laughed again.
"He seems happy. Maybe he knows he has nothing to worry about now." Mikoto said sentimentally. Sasuke mutedly nodded.

'At the court house'
Noise. It was noise going through Naruto's head and he walked on the marble floors alongside his family. Fugaku and Itachi were tensed, their faces manifested a stern look. Mikoto rubbed the blonde's head comfortingly while Sasuke looked at him in assurance.
"Itachi and I are going to meet our lawyer. Sit on the bench over there." Fugaku pointed at it. "It is by the room where our trial is going to take place." Looking down at the slightly intimidated blonde, he ruffled his hair gently. " There's nothing to worry about. We will take care of it." Itachi gave Naruto a small smile and walked with his father.
Naruto's eyes widened and he smiled back gratitude. "Thank you."
"Come on. Let's go." Mikoto said softly as she lead the boys to the bench. Naruto sat down instantly, bowing his head, his hands shivering a bit. Sasuke sat by his side and held his hand to calm him down.
"I'll get some coffee for you both okay?" The raven-haired woman said as she walked towards the coffee shop that was in front. Sasuke looked at his blonde but didn't say anything. Seconds of stillness passed before Naruto said...
"I don't want to see him."
Sasuke nodded in acknowledgement. Naruto continued.
"It took too long to forget the things he did to me and the memories of him. I don't want it too come back. But after this I know I'll be free because he would finally be gone. It hurts though to think about it, after all he is my father... I just... I just want to feel normal and be a normal teenager."
Sasuke's hand gripped Naruto's a little tighter. "I don't know how you feel and what you must be going through but I'll be here and make sure you feel normal again." Sasuke's deep voice resonated through Naruto's heart and warmed it. He looked at his raven friend and smiled brilliantly, clutching their inter-winded hands. Sasuke smiled back whole-heartedly. They waited in silence till their trail was going to begin.
'In the court room'
It was quiet in contrast to the noise in the corridors. But this silence... It scared Naruto just as much. He knew he was going to face his reality, the object of his nightmares. The ceiling arched in the shape of a hemisphere. Large windows were at the side of the huge room, shedding light through. Concrete statues were at the sides of the room and in front was the judge's table. The Uchiha family walked silently to their side and sat on the bench. At that moment, the quiet murmuring in the room stopped as the judge walked in, his black robes flowing as he walked to his table. He smacked his gavel on the wooden stand.

"Silence!" His deep voice boomed. Everyone immediately quietened down. Satisfied by the lack of noise he said the next sentence that briefly stopped Naruto's heart.
The large wooden doors opened at the side. Two burly men walked in, grabbing the arms of a blonde man, wearing the orange jail suit. His blonde, shaggy hair fell all his head, his unshaven face sneered in anger, his blue eyes no longer had their vibrant shade. His head cocked to the side and he saw his 'son' and hatred welled up inside him. Naruto crouched down in fear, his eyes welled up in disappointment. Itachi and Sasuke glared back while Mikoto was consoling Naruto, to busy to give attention to Minato and Fugaku... just stared at his former best-friend in sadness and regret. The two men brought Minato to his side of the table which was separated from the plaintiff's.
"The case between Naruto Uchiha and Minato Namikaze. Commence." The judge said and nodded his head to the lawyer at the plaintiff's side. His name was Shikaku Nara. He nodded and the trail hence commenced.
"Naruto Uchiha. Age 17. On September 16th was found stabbed and brutally harmed in his room. After much examination, the bruises discovered on his body dated back to as far as five years ago and even before. Witnesses claimed that screaming could be heard coming from their house and Minato Namikaze running away before the police came."
The judge took in all the information. Looking at the older blonde he asked, "Do you Minato Namikaze plead guilty to these charges?"
Minato turned around to see Naruto. Those blue eyes looked back in fear and sadness before looking away.
"Not guilty." Minato's sharp voice cut through the silence. Naruto just sighed as if he knew this would happen. A large gasp tore through from everyone in the room.
"There is no use pleading that your not guilty. It is obvious that these crimes were committed by you." Shikaku said calmly. "Now our plaintiff, Naruto Uchiha will plead his case."
The blonde's heart raced in nervousness. No! He didn't want to open up about his past. He didn't want to talk about it to a room full of strangers. He felt a large hand grip his bony one. He knew it was Sasuke's.
"Breathe Naruto... Breathe. Calm down." Those soothing words ran through his head. After burying his anxiety, the blonde stood up on shaky legs and straightened himself. He took a deep breath and started...
"Ever since I was five, my dad abused me. At first it was verbal jabs and occasional slaps. When I was seven, the beatings became more frequent and harsher. H-he woul-ld punch m-me and h-h-it me. He w-would bu-rn m-me with lighted cigarettes." Naruto pulled up his sleeve and revealed his marred skin to everyone. The jury gasped in horror. The blonde continued.
"I-i-t got worse every y-year. H-h-e di-d this because h-he acc-cused me of k-k-illing m-my mother." At this revelation, small tears gathered around the corner's of Naruto's eyes. He took a deep breath again. "I guess... enough w-was enough for him and he b-bega-" Before he could continue, a voice cut through.
"Your honour! The jury has already made a decision." A young woman said as everyone in the jury stood up. "It is obvious that this man's heinous crimes should not go unpunished."
The judge nodded. " Between the case of Naruto Uchiha and Minato Namikaze, the jury has decided to plead guilty!" The gavel smacked again signally the end of the trial.
Okay... so this chapter became extremely long. I didn't realise until I saw the word count. Anyway hope you enjoy the chapter.
Note: I have no idea how a trial works and my basic knowledge comes from watching "How To Get Away With Murder" so if it isn't accurate, don't flame me. xD

Star Wars X Mass Effect
Like the title says, it's a crossover between Star Wars and Mass Effect. I'm using both the Star Wars Legends continuity and my personal playthrough of Mass Effect Trilogy for the story. This is actually my first fan fiction ever, so sorry in advance if chapters feel like summaries or my writing in general is off.

Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
