《Hadar #Watty2014》Chapter 3

It had been months, since my little war bear battle and I was just going through the motions. Staying away from Jex proved to be hard, as he would randomly just show up. It was exhausting to no end, here I was trying to cope and get over his stupid ass. And he just wouldn’t go the fuck away, I needed to leave a lot as the colder months grew closer. When my father needed to go into town, I would beg to do it for him. Hoping that the time away from the pack, would heal me. It always seemed to take him by surprise, but he would let me go.
I loved driving away, as Jex would stop by my house. Only to realize I wasn’t there, the satisfaction of having him turn to see the car pulling out was better then butter popcorn at the movies. After a few getaways, he caught on. Jumping into the passenger side, I sent him a glare.
“Get out Alpha” Spitting his title. His eyes widened, when I didn’t use his first name like I once did.
“Where are you going?”
“Out, please leave” Refusing to go anywhere, with this pompous ass.
“I’ll go with you” He said smugly. Growling I just knew he wasn’t going to leave, so I started the car and drove.
“So…” He started. I might have to sit in the same car as him, but I sure as hell didn’t have to listen to him. Turning the radio on, I blasted the sound. He glared at me, before turning to look out the window. Pulling into town, I parked the car and left him. Shadowing behind me, I groaned what the hell did he want. Going over the list my father gave me, I started with the first shop. It took two hours, but I managed to get everything even with his stupid ass following me. Placing everything in the trunk, I watched as he got into his seat. With a roll of my eyes, I pulled the keys out starting the car.

He was fiddling with a black velvet box, as he opened it I caught sight of the diamond M necklace. My heart sunk even more, was he really doing this to me again. How many times am I gunna have to break, before its enough for him. I contained my feeling, going completely numb when he looked my way. His eyes held on waiting for me to look back, but there was no way in hell I would give him that satisfaction. He could drop dead for all I cared, burn in hell while your at it.
Stopping in the driveway, I got out opening the trunk. He stepped out reaching to help me, by I took all the bags still able to close the trunk. Walking past him I pushed the door open to my house, kicking it closed in his face. My parents must have been out in the back, and that gave me time to shed a few tears as my back held the door. Giving myself a few more minutes, I started putting the food away. It was perfect timing as my parents walked in, smiling and laughing with one another.
My father nodded to me, as I handed him back his change.
“I got everything on the list, and Mr. Greg didn’t have the soap you wanted so he gave me this one for you to try for free” Handing my father the soap bar. He took it, heading into the bathroom. Smiling at me my mother caught the redness under my eyes.
“Everything okay Fina?”
“Yes” Looking away, as I tried to see to busy to have this conversation. Sighing she nodded, giving up. Once everything was away, I went into my room locking the door.
Time had passed without so much as a care, and as I finished my training for the day I went home. There was some big announcement, that was taking place tonight. My parents had wanted me to dress nice, and I was in no shape to fight them. With a long shower I tossed on a pair of jeans, with a white silk top. Never leaving home without my boots, I hurried out the door. They would already be at the grand hall, so I needed to make fast time.

Father hated it when I was late, so I made sure to make my feet pick up the pace. Entering the hall I noticed it was decorated, flowers hung all over. Shaking off the bad feeling, I found them sitting close to the front. Slipping in I stood next to my mother, who was dressed in her stunning blue dress. Father frowned at my attire, but my mother didn’t let him linger at me long. As the final members wadded in, the Alpha stood up. Waving his hands for everyone to be seated, he began to speak.
“Thank you all for coming. I have some wonderful news” His smile was overly excited, just like his mates. Sticking his hand out, Jex walked up on stage. Groaning quietly to myself, I looked at my jeans picking at the loose threads.
“I am handing the title of Alpha over to my son.” Everyone clapped, while I tried not to chock. Another wavy of his hands, before continuing.
“He has informed me, that he has found his mate” My stomach knotted, as the word mate slipped off his tongue. I could feel him looking at me, but like hell was I going to look at him. The fucking ceiling held more interest, then his stupid eyes did.
“Mari Ann, would you please” The Alpha said. Her parents all gushed, as she walked onto the stage. Again I tried not to chock, they held hands as he kissed her cheek. My wolf cried more, as she had to go through this bullshit all over again. The title was passed to Jex, and every stood up cheering. I kept seated as to hid myself, from his piercing eyes. Finally I stood up, and headed to the back. But his words froze me solid.
“I have more good news, I have chosen my Beta and Enforcer.” I wanted to scream.
Don’t you dare you bastard…….
“My beta will be Pret, and my Enforcer will be…” I knew he was looking at me, clenching my fists.
“Fina” My name, he said my fucking name. The growl that wanted to come out, was muffled as I made my tongue bleed. My father linked me.
~Fina, come over here~ But I didn’t want to, I wanted nothing to do with that asshole. Forcing myself, I decided there was only one good way out of this. My heels spun me around, as I stared him dead in the eyes. He seemed more then pleased, as he held his new mate. But I would be damned, if he thought he could have both of us. Stepping past everyone, I stood at the bottom of the stairs. Bowing my head, I took in a breath as the room became quiet.
“Forgive me Alpha, but I must humbly deny” Gasps rang out, as I could pick my fathers growl out.
“What?” He asked, more shocked then anyone.
“I am not fit to by your Enforcer, my father is much more qualified.” Keeping a hold of my bow.
“Fina you are more…”
“I again humbly deny Alpha” Lifting my head, I bowed one last time before looking at my parents. Leaving the hall, I had nothing else to day. For all I cared they could banish me, I was done with this shit.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
