《Goddess of the Moon (TEEN WOLF)》CHAPTER 18

Selena sat in the backseat and watched how Stiles' fingers nervously tapped on the steering wheel. She wasn't quite sure if he was nervous about Derek sitting next to him, or about what they had just found out. But she didn't really care, she just wanted to place her hand on his and comfort him, just like he had comforted her in the elevator. Selena liked Stiles a lot, but she was scared that with all the supernatural drama, it was not the right time to tell him. Or even the right time to fall in love.
They drove to Derek's loft where Derek got out of the jeep and came back with a round box in his hands a few minutes later. He didn't say anything and Selena hated that. She was part of all this too and he didn't tell them one word of his plan. When they reached Scott's house, his mother opened the door for them. Derek and Stiles greeted her with a small hello and instantly went inside the living room, while Selena stopped in the hallway and tried to sort her feelings. She had never been at Scott's house before and she thought it was weird that they met here to talk about supernatural problems. Not because it was Scott's house, but because his mother was there. She was human and Selena thought that they should keep things like that far away from her. To keep her safe. But then she remembered, that Stiles was also human and he chose to be part of the supernatural world.
"Are you okay with being part of this world?", Selena suddenly said and was just as surprised as Melissa. Melissa raised her eyebrows and smiled softly.
"I don't really have a choice, do I? My son is a werewolf and I'm his mother.", Melissa answered and saw how Selena's expression changed. She looked kind of hurt so Melissa took Selena's hands in hers.

"But you see, Scott is a good one. I am scared of all those supernatural powers but Scott, Lydia and Kira, they all use their powers to help others and to make this world a little bit better. So does Derek and I'm sure you will too. This pack is a good pack and I couldn't be any prouder."
"Do you think I can be a part of this pack someday?", Selena asked shyly and Melissa laughed.
"Sweetie, you already are a part of this pack and they will never abandon you."
"Thank you, Misses McCall.", Selena said sweetly and her heart felt warm. She missed talking to her mother like that, but talking to Melissa felt nearly the same. Melissa nodded and let go off Selena's hands, leading her to the living room. Scott was pacing through the room nervously, Derek and Isaac sat on the couch and watched him. Stiles leaned against the wall next to the door, his arms crossed over his chest. Selena felt her heart jump a little and ignored her inner voice telling her to run up to him and hug him. She walked up to him anyway and stood next to him, watching the other three boys.
"I've done this only once. And I did it with my own claws, not with the claws of your dead mother.", Scott grumbled and looked at Derek.
"Scott, you already did it once and it worked. Last time, you even managed to get out a dark kitsune out of Stiles ok, this time you just need to give me back my memories. And I definitely won't ask Peter, don't even think about that option.", Derek said calmly and looked at Scott the whole time, his eyes following him as he still couldn't manage to stay in one place.

"Okay, I will do it.", Scott finally said and sat beside Derek. Derek grabbed the box he had gotten from his loft and opened it. He put it back on the table and turned it around, something small falling onto the table. It looked like claws. Derek put them back into the box one by one and then held Scott's wrist, holding his hand over the box.
"Wait, wait! What are you doing?" Selena interrupted them and walked up to them. Scott looked uncomfortable and she didn't want anyone to get hurt.
"Those are the claws of my mother. Alpha werewolves have the ability to affect our minds and memories with them. They can see our memories and also take it from us, make us forget things. Scott used the same technique to save Stiles from the Nogitsune. And with the claws of my mother, he can probably give me back the memories that she took from me. Depending on how long we can hold on, we maybe can talk to her.", Derek explained slowly and Selena was glad that he finally talked to her about his plan.
"What do you mean with holding on?", She asked and noticed how everyone exchanged looks.
"It can be dangerous and there's a chance of not coming back. But I trust Scott and if he's able to get us inside my mind, he will also be able to bring us back." Selena nodded and understood how important it was that Scott did what Derek asked him to. Derek's mother was probably the only one who could tell them the truth.
"Wait, us?", Selena asked and Derek nodded. He didn't say anything and focussed on Scott again. It seemed obvious for Derek that Selena would be haunting his mind together with Scott and he didn't seem too scared about it. On the contrary, Selena did feel scared. Probably because she never thought that something like this was possible and also because she was scared of being stuck in Derek's mind forever. What if Scott wouldn't be able to bring her back? But Selena didn't have a choice if she wanted to get to know the truth and she trusted Scott. And Derek.
Selena just nodded and took a step backwards. Derek grabbed Scott's wrist again and positioned his hand just above the claws. Without any hesitation, he pushed Scott's hand inside the box and Scott cried out in pain, his eyes turning red. It took him a few seconds to come back to his senses and stood up, motioning Selena to sit next to Derek. She did what Scott asked her to do and watched Scott walking up behind them. Selena watched Isaac who walked up to Stiles, standing next to him. He looked kind of worried, just like Stiles did. Stiles forced himself to smile when Selena's gaze met his, trying to encourage her, even though he was more scared than optimistic. But Selena smiled back at him, knowing that if Scott wouldn't be able to bring her back, Stiles definitely would be able to. Knowing that, she closed her eyes and felt how Scott positioned his claws on her neck, suddenly feeling a sharp pain.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Revenants have a unique connection to essential magics that allows them to develop their powers in extremely diverse ways. Wherever there is power, though, there are those seeking to wield it, whether they be governments and gods from above, or mythical elder races from below.
