《Hurts So Good》Chapter 2 | A Brat

❄❄

Fucking infuriating woman and her petty actions. Can't believe I agreed to marry this brat. I ran my hand down my face, wiping away the water that she threw on me.

One look from Hector and I was on my feet as I followed behind her. She thinks she can run away, if only it was that easy.

She was at the front door trying to pull it open not realising it was locked. I moved closer to her and placed my palm firmly against the door above her head trapping her between me and the door, her back to me.

"Come back inside." I ordered in a cold voice.

Her body tensed up on hearing my voice but didn't turn around to face me. "You can't order me around."

"Don't make me take you inside forcefully."

She had the audacity to scoff loudly. "Try me."

I waited till ten seconds in case she changes her mind but when she didn't I had no other option other than bending down and picking her up and throwing her over my shoulder making her shriek.

"What the fuck! Put me down!"

I chose to ignore her protests as well as the weak punches she was throwing at my back and carried her inside where Robert and Hector was waiting for us.

I put her down on the floor making her sway lightly before she shot daggers at me, realising it didn't have any effect on me, she turned to her dad. "This is not fair! I won't marry a stranger, how can you trust him?"

"I trust him because I trust Hector." Robert replied making her tremble with anger.

"It's just a matter of some time, Farren." Hector assured her in a surprisingly soft tone.

"No shit Sherlock." Hector is a dangerous man, you don't want to mess with him but she, she was feisty and didn't give a fuck about that. "There's no way I would remain married to him for the rest of my life.

Robert sighed in relief knowing she was slowly agreeing to this but it wouldn't be that easy.

"However, I want to negotiate." She gave them both a challenging look, daring them to ignore her suggestion.

Robert wasn't ready for that though. "Farren, you are in no position to--"

"Let's hear her first." Hector interrupted Robert and gestured her to go on.

"At the end of all this, I am going to ask you for something in return which could be anything and you will fulfill it for me." A side of her lips tilted upwards as if she came up with the most genius plan ever.

Robert's eyes narrowed. "Elaborate."

She ruminated for a moment and then shrugged. "I don't know, I haven't decided yet."

"You need money? House? What do you want?" Robert asked her.

"I already have those things. What I will ask in return is a secret which will be revealed at an appropriate time." She explained and addressed Hector next. "For now, you have to make a legal document regarding this so that you both won't go back on your words."

For a couple of seconds Hector analysed her with narrowed eyes and slowly, very slowly, he nodded.

She smiled in victory. "Okay. If it's all settled, I'll be on my way."

I suspiciously regarded her as she walked out of the dining room. She's upto something.

Without wasting another second I followed behind her since I was her bodyguard starting this moment and I had to make sure she reaches home safely.

When she noticed me following she stopped and glared at me. "Stop following me."

"It's my job."

"I don't care. Just don't follow me." And she turned around and started to walk to the front door which this time was open.

I did exactly opposite of what she asked me as I followed her outside till her car where she once again turned around to face. "Why won't you listen to me? I don't need you to follow me around yet! I reached here safely and I can go back safely. Leave me alone."

"Give me your car keys."

She folded her arms across her chest. "Like hell I would. Leave me alone."

Why does she have to be so stubborn? I gritted my teeth. "Okay."

She looked surprised but quickly masked it and rolling her eyes, unlocked her car and slid inside and before she could drive away, I opened the door and sat in the passenger's seat.

"You have got to be kidding me!"

I buckled my seatbelt and sat quietly waiting for her start driving but instead she was busy shooting daggers at me and I gazed out of the window.

Knowing I won't give up, she let out an exasperated groan and revving the engine, drove out of there.

"You better figure out a way to go back because I won't be lending you my car."

"Who said I will be leaving?"

She glanced furiously at me before focusing on the road again. "You are going to stay at my house?"

"Outside your house." I corrected.

"Sure. As you wish." She said sarcastically before becoming silent for the rest of the ride.

Why did I even agree to all this? I can't even stay inside her house untill and unless we get married cause her father still lives in the fucking nineteenth century.

I rubbed my eyes and sipped on my second coffee while sitting inside her car, watching over her apartment. Surprisingly she doesn't live in a very posh and a high end area. The apartments around here are all simple.

It was around midnight and I detected some movements on my left and my body tensed up, ready to brace myself if there is any danger but I relaxed immediately seeing Hector walking towards me.

"You already look tired." He commented as I got out of the car to meet him.

"It's nothing...I can handle all this."

"I tried convincing Robert but he won't let you stay inside for now. I might work as his brain but there are some things that I still can't control."

I leaned back against the car. "Leave him and his stereotypical thoughts alone."

He also leaned against the car beside me. "As far as I know Farren has always been a rebel and despite what her father believes, she already had some boyfriends."

"And you never told all this to Robert?"

"It's not my place to complain about her daughter. If he really cared about keeping her away from boys he should have done a better work."

I hummed and silence enveloped us but a question has been nagging me, I glanced at him. "Does he love her?"

Hector was quiet for a few seconds. "He does. He just doesn't know how to express it but he loves his family a lot."

I nodded and I tried stifling a yawn but failed at it which he noticed. "Maybe we should prepone the wedding. I'll talk to Robert tomorrow."

"That...would be better."

He pushed himself away from the car and straightening up adjusted his suit jacket. "One more thing."

"What?"

He placed his hand on my shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Don't make the mistake of falling in love with her. Don't even dare to think of it. Or else it will complicate things."

I snorted loudly. "Love? You think I will fall in love with her? I am not a kid, Hector, I know how to control my feelings."

"It's a warning. Keep remembering that you are here to do your job. Love is the most dangerous weapon of all time, don't let it control you."

"I won't." I assured him.

He gently patted my cheek. "I trust you, brother. I know you won't let me down."

My head was resting back on the headrest as it was four in the morning and I was sleepy as fuck.

A knock on the window jolted me out of my sleepiness and jerked up straight. Hector was peering in from the window and gestured me to come outside.

Sighing I stepped out to meet him, he looked the complete opposite of me, fresh and energised.

"Go get some sleep. I'll look after her till then."

"It's alright...I can manage."

His eyes scanned my face and he said sarcastically, "I can see that. Sleep for a few hours plus you will be having your wedding in the afternoon itself."

"Today? Isn't it too early? You think she would agree to it?"

He glanced up at her apartment. "She will have to."

"Goodluck convincing her. I'll see you later." And he handed me his car keys and I drove back to my penthouse and crashed on my bed.

I am getting married in a few hours to someone whom I don't even know and to someone who is fucking annoying and a brat.

I came to DC all the way from Canada for this ridiculous thing just because Hector trusts me and only me to do this task.

I was being trained there and I was being trained well and I knew that I would be getting a client soon enough but what I didn't know that I would have to marry my client in order to protect her.

Wow. Just wow.
