Sexuality is something that is notoriously explored by teenagers, and it can be a confusing place if you're not sure what you are. Attraction is a muddling concept, and understanding your own thoughts let alone telling them to other people is hard as hell.

My advice to people who are confused about their sexuality is always the same: give it time. There's no cut off point where you have to declare your sexuality and stick with that eternally, so don't rush to find yourself out. For some people they'll know very quickly, for others they may not understand their own feelings until well into adulthood.

Coming out is another scary thing for a lot of teens, and I think there's no advice that will work for everyone. I kind of just kept it casual and told people when they asked me, but for some people a big announcement is easier because at least then everyone will know all at once. People will question the authenticity of your feelings and it will annoy you and hurt you, but as long as you're confident in your own feelings you have to just block those people out. Trust your head, heart, and gut rather than the words of some ignorant people.

Don't place any pressure on yourself to give your feelings a label if you're unsure, and if you ever need to talk about these feelings that are flying around your head I'm always here to have some deep chats with.

So rule forty five of surviving Teenagehood: your sexuality is a journey, and you don't have to define it till you make it to that endpoint where the sky is clearer and the grass is greener.
