《The Unexpected [M.E]》11

You could still be, what you want to be, What you said you were, when you met me.
Everyone sat quietly around each other. It was silent. Laura was by Dusty, her head on her shoulder. Matthew and Nash sat by each other, and Matthew kept taking small glances at Laura.
It pained him that Laura wasn't alright. He knew she wasn't. And it hurt him. He could feel his heart aching in his chest. He couldn't really describe the feeling of the pain because.. it just hurt. It was sort of a stinging pain and it wouldn't go away.
Cameron and Dusty stood up. "We're all going to dinner now," Laura saw Dusty's glare and gave her the' if you don't get the hell up, I'm dragging you by your nose, ' look. Laura rolled her eyes and stood up, ignoring the rest of Dusty's glares. Matthew and Nash stood up, following behind them. Nash patted Matt's shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile. Mumbling it's going to be okay but Matt felt like it wasn't going to be okay.
It really killed him. It killed him because every time he looked at Laura, he saw the beauty of her. He saw how amazing she was and he wondered if others could see it as well. He watched her dark long cascade hair flow side to side. Thoughts roaming his mind.
It pained Matthew a lot. He hated this. He hated thinking about how hurt he would e if Laura left his side. He felt his heart crack because Matthew realized that he couldn't live without Laura and that his mind and heart would agonize just at the thought of her leaving him.
Leaving his life.
--
They all made it to the diner seating in a booth large enough for them, Cam and Dusty by each other, Laura sitting inside by the window. Matt took this chance and sat beside her. Laura decided to ignore him.

Nash grabbed a chair and sat at the edge of the table.
Laura grabbed the menu and skimmed the choices of food. She just realized how hungry she was and glad she came out.
Laura smirked.
Not dumb enough to pass on the food.
"So," Dusty started. Laura looked up, giving her full attention.
"Tomorrow we should all go to the beach,"
"Again?" Laura questioned. Dusty nodded.
"Yes, because we didn't swim this time." Laura rolled her eyes groaning.
"Yeah, that'd be a great idea, plus the weather during the day is amazing," Matt added. Laura saw in the corner of her eye Matthew looking at her and she squirmed in her seat.
A waiter came to take their orders, and Laura was surprised at how decent looking he was. Tanned skin with messy hair and deep green eyes. She smirked at how good looking he was.
The guy took everyone's orders except for Matt and Laura. He turned to her and smiled warmly. "Uh, can I have a grilled chicken with fries?" His eyes shone and he smiled at her nodding.
"Anything to drink for the pretty lady?" She felt Matt tense next to her and she furrowed her brows while answering.
"Just a strawberry fanta, please." He nodded and added it to her order.
The waiter turned to Matt and he glared at the waiter. Laura rolled her eyes at his immaturity.
"A-and for you sir?"
Wow he got him scared. Typical Matthew Espinosa.
"I'll have the same as her," Matthew pointed to Laura and sat back. She saw how scared the waiter was and how tense Matt was, and all she could think was Ah shit.
The waiter nodded awkwardly and mumbled that their food should be ready in half an hour.

"Yo, bro, are you okay?" Nash asked Matthew suddenly. He only nodded with a clenched jaw. He stood up and mumbled I'll be back and walked to the bathroom.
Laura rolled her eyes. "What's with him?" Cam shrugged his shoulder.
"Beats me." Laura saw Dusty glaring and mouthed what while raising her hands.
Laura was confused.
And hungry.
Goddamn.
Later on Matthew was back and calm. The food came as well and they all ate in silence. Nash would talk about how many girls tweet him a day and if he should take one out. Laura almost vomited at how he was acting as if girls and women were toys.
Matthew was silent the whole time as he ate. Laura chewed on her food slowly, enjoying her food. Cam and Dusty talked amongst themselves and Laura knew they were hitting it off.
At least someones happy.
Laura felt a warm hand on hers and looked to see it was Matt's. She flushed red and looked at him. His eyes held something she couldn't quite understand. But as he spoke she knew he wasn't okay. He wasn't okay as she wasn't.
"I'm sorry," Laura didn't really know why he was apologising. She only nodded and kept eating her food. The entire time Matthews hand was holding hers, their fingers lazily laced together.
Laura couldn't push away the butterflies that were erupting in her stomach because of his touch. She knew her feelings for him were too real to push away.
She had to deal with them.
She had to except them.
And that's what she did.
Laura De Clarity excepted that she was hopelessly in love with Matthew Espinosa.

He can’t log out, his magic is on the fritz, and worst of all, he’s not even human. Now, he’s a low-class, run-of-the-mil Dungeon monster. Some disgusting, blue-skinned creature called a Troll. At least there’s one small silver lining—Roark managed the grab a powerful magic artifact on his way through the portal, and with it he might just be able to save the world after all. Unless, of course, the Tyrant King gets to him first …Hey everyone, so as most of you know, I write books for a living, and I just put this title up on Amazon (and enrolled it in KU). Because KU requires exclusivity as part of their terms of service, I have had to pull the majority of the content from this site. I left the full novel up for as long as possible, so I hope everyone got a chance to read it. If you haven't had a chance to read it in its entirety (sorry!) you can pick it up on Amazon. Thanks again for coming on this journey with me, and I so hope you enjoyed it. The book will be out on Tuesday July 24th. Best, James Hunter
