It happened right after Aaron and Rose set Grace off.

Aaron was already sound asleep, and so was Rose – for a little while, she was enclosed in her dreams and warmth of the blanket – but that was until she heard three tiny knocks echo through the room like a distant cannonball.

She was surprised that Aaron didn't even stir, but Rose was already up; drowsily walking with sleep in her steps and exhaustion in her eyes, she opened up the door only to find the person she expected the least.

"Damien?" Rose said, quirking up a tired eyebrow. "What are you doing? It's like four in the morning."

Damien looked as handsome as he always did; tanned skin and defined muscles, he was the exact opposite of Aaron. But they always had each other's eyes. "We need to talk."

Rose could feel the anger awaken her senses. "And what makes you think I want to talk with you?"

Damien didn't even look fazed with the irritation enrolled in her voice. Instead, his eyes became lighter; almost like the baby blue Aaron's became when he was frightened. "It's about Aaron," His voice was quiet, almost quivering.

Rose could feel her heart fully awake now; beating and pumping blood so terrific that Rose could almost see her chest vibrate. "What about Aaron?" Her voice too, was a scared whisper.

"Let's talk somewhere else," Damien glanced at Aaron, almost smiling. "I don't want to wake him."

"And why should I trust you?"

Damien raised an eyebrow, but nonetheless smiled. "Like I said before, I am extremely well thought. I might be a diabolical being in your eyes, but I would never hurt a woman."

Rose was still hesitant, glancing at Aaron once more before she reluctantly closed the door behind her; cautiously following Damien's steps.

They ended up taking loads of left and right turns, but they eventually ended up in his bedroom; Rose concluded that by the golden letters encrusted into the door – Damien.

His room was even more glorious that Aaron's; silk bed sheets and crystal chandeliers, the room looked more like a ball room to Rose than it did a bed room. Golden ceiled cabinet and plush pillows, Damien even had a small hot tub nearing the corner of the room.

"Is that a..."

"Hot tub, yes." Damien answered for her, shrugging. "My parents thought it was a spectacular eighteenth birthday gift."

Damien even had his own tiny bookshelf – something which Aaron wasn't even allowed to have. She suddenly felt rage bubble up inside her and Rose had to clench her fists to not do anything stupid.

"Please," Damien told her. "Have a seat."

Rose gritted her teeth, but nonetheless took a seat on one of the ivory embroidered chairs; almost slipping in completely over how soft it was. She felt as though she was sitting on cotton candy. "What do you want to talk about?"

Damien merely smiled. "Care for tea?"

"Damien,"

"No tea I suppose," He said, and Rose could see the tension in his jaw.

"I don't want tea," Rose said, glaring at him. "You woke me up to talk, so talk."

"My parents are coming in less than 30 hours," Damien said, linking his fingers. "That gives us less than 30 hours to come up with a plan."

"Plan?" Rose asked, obviously confused. "For what?"

"Rose," Damien was clear now; his tone sharp and steady. "My parents will press legal charges against Aaron if they find him here, and that is putting it nicely." Damien's voice started to quiver, but he cleared his throat. "The agreement they made two years ago is still in effect, and if Aaron goes against it, it won't be pretty."

"Legal charges?" Rose raged. "But they're his parents!"

"His parents – yes. But his allies – no." Damien's voice had a tone of no question; as though these words were repeated over and over to him. "When he decided to stop following instructions, my parents stopped following sediment." His eyes looked almost like a glacier. "Because that is what makes us vulnerable, dear Rose, sentiment."

"Why are you helping him?" Rose asked, her eyebrows knitted as she looked at him. "Didn't you loathe Aaron?"

Damien slightly smiled, and it reminded Rose so much of Aaron's own. "He is my brother Rose," He told her quietly, his eyes resembling Aaron's incredibly. "Just because my parents lost sentiment," His voice was light, just like a soft murmur. "Doesn't mean I have."

Rose for the first time, smiled at him. Her heart surged at Damien's words and it made her feel more confident that she was going to face Aaron's parents with a plan. "Alright then," She said. "What's the plan?"

"That's exactly why I wanted to talk to you," Damien said, keenly looking at Rose. "However, I do have a few things in mind and –"

Rose waited for him to continue, but Damien was staring at her with wide blue eyes, and a bewildered expression on his face that Rose squirmed in her seat. "What is it?"

"I–Is that a wedding ring?" Damien's voice was trembling, shock arising in the specks of his eyes as he stared at her ring finger.

"Oh," Rose laughed, shaking her head as she looked at the ring Aaron had gifted her. "It's a promise ring. I am saving this finger for Aaron."

Damien nodded his head, but his expression didn't falter. But then a smile bloomed on his lips. "Perfect."

Rose gave him a quizzical look. "What?"

"You just gave me a brilliant idea," Damien was grinning, obviously excited as he stood abruptly from his seat and started pacing around the room. "Excellent, excellent."

"Would you mind sharing?" Rose was getting annoyed again, the sleep that she thought she had forgotten was returning in full force. "I want to go back to bed already."

Damien was still smiling. "It is simple Rose, too simple." He was pacing around the room, his sparkling eyes lingering on Rose. "My parents will be furious to find Aaron here, and they'd do anything they can to get him out. Unless," He grinned. "I have a special announcement to make that needed the whole family to attend to."

"If you think I am going to act as your fiancée, you are absolutely –"

Damien shook his head, the excitement almost radiating from his smile. "We could always announce about my engagement."

"Your engagement?" Rose almost shrieked.

Damien was still smiling. "Yes, haven't you caught on yet? Do you wish for me to repeat myself?"

"No," Rose said. "I heard you perfectly fine." She let out a breath. "How are we supposed to find you a fiancée?"

"Don't worry about that, leave it to me." Damien told her, his eyes practically glimmering. "I'll have the arrangements done and perfected; you just keep Aaron distracted – which is pretty much all the time, so I can consider it done."

"What?"

"Now, now," Damien said. "My parents. Ruthless, hostile and absolutely cold. They will be the meanest and most intimidating people you will ever have the displeasure of meeting, and I need you to be able to accept the fact that being you is never going to be sufficient when it comes to Mummy dearest." Damien told her, the smile now gone and replaced by a thin line. "I will teach you how to talk, and I will teach you what you can and cannot do."

"Okay, but if you tell me what the initial plan is, maybe I can understand –"

"No matter," Damien brushed her off. "It's late. You need to sleep, otherwise Aaron will get suspicious." He offered Rose his hand, which she hesitantly took before escorting her to the door. "Come along now, I really hope Aaron isn't awake."

"He isn't," Rose reassured Damien as he led the way. "We've read about a hundred pages of The Order of the Phoenix, I think he's tired and dreaming of Hogwarts."

Damien nodded, letting out a little chuckle. "I'm not surprised. Okay, here we are." Damien gave her a small smile as Rose opened up Aaron's door. "Good night." He told her.

She smiled back. "Good night."

And when she snuggled back to Aaron, she held onto him tighter; as though she was praying this plan would pull through.

"Sirius didn't die," Aaron told her the next morning as they ate their breakfast, munching on his toast. "He was Stunned Rose, it was a red beam; not a green one."

"But he went through the veil Aaron –"

"Just stuck in another dimension," Aaron reasoned, smiling. "Poor lad is probably trying to figure out what a cell phone is."

Rose snorted, but James stopped when James' strolled in. He was still rubbing his eyes when he took a seat on one of the chairs and Rose placed his plate in front of him. "Good morning," He greeted, yawning. "I heard something about a cell phone."

"Yeah we were talking about –" But Rose sent Aaron a glare that said We can't talk about Sirius' death with James yet, he still didn't finish The Prisoner of Azkaban and it will be a spoiler. "– how I can't memorise my cell phone number."

James quirked an eyebrow as he digged into his eggs. "You? Unable to memorise? Having photographic memory pretty much does that for you Aaron."

The corner of Aaron's lips tugged upwards ever so slightly. "One of the deficiencies of having a nagging girlfriend all the time – I think my photographic memory is fading." Rose flicked his forehead with her fork, to which Aaron of course yelped with an Ouch!

James merely smiled, and there was just something so adorable with seeing him grin with his mouth full of eggs. "Kan shee bee my girlfrend zen?"

Aaron scowled at his little brother. "Don't talk you your mouth full," Aaron said. "And no, she can't be your girlfriend."

"Awww blimee."

"James, no slang!"

Rose laughed, and she saw Damien pass by right after. He gave her a nod in acknowledgment, before moving along. She had thought about their plan the whole night, and it was hard keeping something from Aaron, but then again, it was for his own good wasn't it?

Aaron didn't even seem to notice Damien, but was wiping away the corner of James' mouth. "Can we continue with Prisoner of Azkaban right after?"

Rose nodded, smiling. "I'm up for it."

Aaron shrugged. "I don't mind."

Rose sensed the weird looks Aaron gave her when she prepared Damien breakfast, but she tried not to think of it too much. But after several meeting (Late at night to her disappointment) she thought he was genuinely concerned about helping Aaron out, and she thought it wouldn't be an issue to prepare him breakfast once in a while.

She could feel Aaron lace their fingers right under the table, placing their entwined palms on her lap. He was still so engrossed in his food that Rose was wondering whether he even knew what he was doing. But nonetheless, she did give his hand a squeeze, to which he eagerly returned.

It was Aaron's turn to read this time, and Rose's head was snuggled at his shoulder, while James was lying down on Rose's chest. She could feel James unconsciously twirl some of her hair with his fingers, and she smiled at how his elder brother did the exact same thing. The little boy was so fascinated by Hippogriffs that he was unknowingly jumpy against Rose. "You mean half eagle and half horse?"

Aaron smiled at his brother, and Rose could almost see the nostalgia that sprinkled across his eyelashes. "Yeah James," Aaron laughed. "Half eagle and half horse."

"Cool!" James said, grinning. "I want Hagrid to be my teacher too!"

Rose giggled, just like she did when she was reading this book for the first time when she was just a little girl. "He makes a pretty awesome teacher."

"I hate Draco though," James was frowning now, his lips pursed. "He's so terrible to Harry."

Aaron and Rose shared a look with each other before she shyly looked away – it was always so tempting to spoil James, but he was too adorable and innocent to do such a sin to.

"He is terrible," Aaron said, glancing at Rose once more, and she couldn't help but notice the slight smirk that climbed on his lips. "So terrible that he even is a –"

"Hippogriffs actually eat insects and birds!" Rose practically yelled, shooting Aaron a glare. "Fascinating, isn't it?"

But James cringed. "Ew."

And Aaron was uncontrollably laughing that the book fell off his lap; to which he apologized for and picked it up (Still laughing) before he cleared his throat (Still smiling) and picked up from where they left.

Rose excused herself for a bathroom break; Aaron throwing at her a concerned look before she gave him a reassuring smile.

Just when Rose walked the hallway, Damien followed right behind her, stacks of papers balanced in his arms. "Good afternoon," He told her, a pair of thick reading glasses settled on the bridge of his nose. "Busy day today."

She glanced at him, squinting her eyes to try and see what were on the papers he was holding. "I wonder why."

Damien let out a breath. "But no matter, the plan is going smoothly."

"Are you sure it's going to work?" Rose was being anxious again, biting her lips and clenching her palms. "I mean your parents can't be that stupid –"

"On the contrary, dear Rose," Damien said, looking at her. His eyes looked so much bluer with the contrast of his dark glasses. Rose almost wondered what Aaron's would look like. "If they see someone with money, they will believe anything you say." He was grinning now, almost smirking. "So don't worry about anything, I already kept Aaron's suit in his closet while you guys read in James' room. And your own dress is in your suitcase as we speak."

Rose nodded, but the clog in her throat just seemed to be growing. It was a given that Rose was nervous, but now, she was scared. "I am pretty scared," She told Damien honestly, watching as he gave her a small smile. He patted the top of her head just as a big brother would do before he told her. "You'll do great. We'll meet again tonight for final touches." And then he was off.

Rose felt something stir in her chest; she wasn't sure whether it was fear or excitement, but she could feel her elbows tremble as she went to the bathroom and washed her face. Aaron looked even more concerned when she entered James' room again.

"We finished a chapter while you were gone," His voice was calm, but Rose could hear the worry in an octave of his tone. "What took you so long?"

Rose shrugged. "I lost my way."

Aaron smiled, but Rose could still see the tightness in his eyes. "Be careful." He told her.

She lay back down, to which James resumed his former position and kissed Aaron's cheek. "Don't worry about me."

Aaron gave her a look that said We'll talk later, before resuming to his reading. Rose could still see the stiffness in his shoulders, but she eventually soothed them out with her fingers.

James seemed like nothing was wrong, and he was just as excited as he was before; constantly asking questions – Do you think people in the portraits can die? – and wondering which house he was in – I want to be in Gryffindor, because Harry is in it – the blonde haired boy already showed such affection and devotion to the story that Rose couldn't help but smile.

Even Aaron sounded like he always did; excited with tinges of absolute softness embedded in his tone. He was always happy whenever he read Harry Potter, and it was never any different. A small smile was always ghosting over his lips like some secret phenomena that Rose could never understand, and he looked beautiful just like he always did.

"I don't know..." James said, his lips pursed while his green eyes twinkled with hesitation. "I don't think Sirius Black wants to kill Harry. If he did, Harry would be dead by now. If he truly is the most dangerous Wizard there is, then Harry wouldn't have stayed alive that long."

Aaron and Rose shared a look; Rose was beaming, but Aaron was silently nodding at his brother as he closed the book. "I guess we'll see when we continue the book later on."

James nodded, a dreamy look in his eyes as he stared off. Rose nudged him. "What's up? You look like you're in love."

James looked up to her. "So I am probably showing you how Aaron looks like when he looks at you."

"James! I do not look like a 7 year old boy who just found out Santa was not real!"

James scoffed. "Please, you look worse."

Rose's eyes widened at James. "You – You know Santa doesn't exist?"

James eyes almost saddened – almost. "My parents were never around to give me gifts," James told her, giving her a small smile. "I didn't even hear his name until I heard a few of my classmates talk about him."

Rose wanted to cry. She couldn't possibly imagine a childhood without the excitement of Santa Claus visiting her house at night, and seeing the gifts he left her on Christmas morning. She simply couldn't fathom how a child as small as James, was unaware of the small magical things that made childhood beautiful.

"So, you've never had a proper Christmas before?" Her voice was so quiet that she thought she was going to start crying.

James shook his head. "When I was younger, Aaron was the one who usually made Christmas fun. He'd take us out and we would even go to the Carnival and such," James' green eyes twinkled with sadness. "But since he left, I've been spending my Christmas with George, and it's pretty good. He makes really good food and I always gets a ton of gifts."

But there was just something in James' tone that told Rose he never wanted gifts; he just wanted Aaron.

"Hey," Aaron's eyes were so soft as he patted James' head. "I'm here now. And who knows, maybe I will come and get you for Christmas this year."

James smiled big. "Really?" He almost yelled, beaming. "Will Rose be there?"

Aaron smiled gently. "Of course she'll be there." He looked at her, his eyes the baby blue that always made her heart go Whack – Whack. "Will you be there?"

"Of course I'll be there," Rose was getting teary, and the boys just laughed at her – Stop laughing at me, I am touched okay, blame the Oestrogen – but Aaron smiled as he watch James keep the book on the night stand.

"I'm hungry," James said. "I'll go find something to eat and be back."

Aaron was holding Rose's hand, mindless staring at the door which his brother just passed through. "I feel bad for him sometimes," Aaron whispered to her, clutching her hand tighter. "I feel like it's my fault."

"It's not your fault Aaron," Rose said sternly. "You didn't do anything."

"Maybe if I stayed he would've at least had a good Christmas and –"

"We said we were going to have one this year," Rose said. "Together."

"I don't know Rose," Aaron said. "I don't want to make promises I can't keep."

"You will keep it," Rose said. "We can even smuggle him with us."

Aaron laughed, but Rose could still hear the force behind it. "I'll count on your for that then,"
