《MY Sweet Interlude》25 - Another Lunch

It was a weekend when Taehyung called Aliya and said all the boys were coming over to a local restaurant. Their school mate from high school just opened it and they wanted to support her. Jia can't come because she had an event set for that same day. Taehyung said everyone will be there so she can't say no, even adding that it's a celebration for her recovery. It's not that far from her house, so with those things said, Aliya had no other option but to go.
Taehyung picked her up and she was glad she made the right choice to not wear jeans. She chose to wear a khaki-colored soft capri pants and a peach-colored blouse with a pair of nude colored sandals. She threw a light coat since the weather is still quite cool even though spring- time is almost over. Her best friend is dressed in an outfit that says the restaurant they were going to was no ordinary one. "You look like you're recovering pretty well." He told her before giving her a hug. "We better hurry because almost everyone is at the restaurant."
Aliya didn't expect the place to be in one of the posh buildings in their town. Aliya turned to Taehyung and asked. "Who owns this place again?" She didn't want to embarrass herself by being clueless. If everyone is coming, the food might be good, or the owner knows Taehyung enough to convince him to bring the rest of his friends there.
Taehyung didn't reply until they got to the door of the place. From the outside, one can tell it's a fancy one. No wonder he told her to wear something nice.
"Aimee." He replied.
"Who?" There's only one person who they both knew that goes by that name, when she looked up at her best friend's face, it confirmed her thoughts. "That Aimee?" She asked and watched how Taehyung's ears turned red. She's the senior he had a crush on before when she had that hiking trip accident.
Taking her elbow, he ushered her inside the place where a receptionist greets them with a bow and a formal smile. She seems to know who Taehyung is because she automatically leads them towards the table where everyone was already sitting.
Aliya was greeted by the boys with a hug. Nari hugged her and gave her cheeks a peck. "How are you feeling?"
"My throat still has that weird feeling when I swallow, and my voice kind still kind of sounds funny, but it is better than my frog voice." Aliya replied. Aliya noticed Yoongi sitting at the far end of the table. It's been almost three weeks since they've last seen each other. Although he didn't get up to hug her when she arrived, the smile that he flashed when she turned to him made her feel a bit thrilled that he didn't ignore her. How often did he smile like that at her before Taehyung's wedding? Zero, so this is more than enough. She smiles back. "Hey, you're here."

He shrugged in response. "Finally had a free weekend." Although she wanted to talk more, Taehyung leads her at the other side of the table, next to where he is.
"So how is Aimee, is she married?" Aliya asked after they placed their order.
"She is a widow now. She moved to Australia with her husband but moved back here recently." He replied.
"Does Jia know you're here and who Aimee is?" Aliya asked carefully. Taehyung had a lot of women in his life and although she is sure he told her about them, she just wanted to make sure.
"Yes of course."
Aimee and Taehyung never dated back when they were in high school, but they had a thing going while they were in the same university. It didn't last long though because both of them were just playing and Aimee wanted older men.
"Aimee just stepped out to take a call." Jimin told Taehyung who nodded in response.
Aliya excused herself to the ladies room where Nari tagged along with her.
"I seriously don't like this Aimee." She whispers to Aliya as they start walking.
"Why?" Aliya asked.
"I don't like the vibe she carries around her, she is pretty but I feel like she is ready to pounce on one of the boys if she has a chance." Nari said before narrating how she had behaved when they came in. "She's literally all over them. She looks loaded with money now because her clothes are screaming the brand she's wearing. But how she's behaving in front of everyone makes her look cheap."
Aliya can't help but smile at her friend. "If I didn't know you better, I'd think you're jealous."
"Damn right I am. She slapped Joon's butt, what the fuck right? I am standing next to him and he clearly introduced me as his fiancee and what does she do? She slaps his butt and said 'You're going to be shackled too?'"
Aliya has never seen Nari get this upset before. She couldn't recall a lot about Aimee except that time when they went hiking and she had an accident. All that stuck to her was her outfit that day, which was a pair of really short shorts and a tight shirt that showed off her big boobs.
"What did Namjoon say?" She asked the fuming woman.
"Apologized like it's his fault. I am not mad at him of course but damn that bitch. Even if I'm hungry, I've lost the appetite to eat at this place though they're saying the food is great." Nari said. "Anyway let's change the topic. How have you been? Anything new between you and Yoongi or Jihyun?"

"Jihyun visited me at the hospital, he is really good in being just a friend to me. With Yoongi, this is the first time I'm seeing him again after two weeks." Aliya replied as she went inside the cubicle.
"Namjoon said Taehyung warned Yoongi he better not hurt you in any way."
"I am not surprised at all. Taehyung and I had a talk about it. There's nothing to worry about because for all I know, Yoongi would've lost interest on me already." Aliya said as she walked towards the sink to wash her hands after finishing her business.
"I heard Hoseok spotted him in a restaurant with that Ma-ri girl last week." Nari said before scoffing when they were about to get back to their table. "Looks like your seat is taken now." She said.
Aliya didn't have the time to react to what her friend just said because when she turned to look at who had taken her seat, it's not hard to guess that it's Aimee. The woman was laughing over something he must've said as her left arm was linked around Taehyung's, while her other hand slapped his forearm.
She turned to Nari with an amused look. "I see what you mean now." Her recollection of Aimee's face is accurate although she's matured now. She is still pretty and her figure is perfect and yup, her boobs are as big as she recalled them because it seems like they were going to pop out of the dress she's wearing. Nari sat at the opposite side of the table next to Namjoon which happens to be across from where Yoongi is sitting and where the only available seat is. She sighed as she made her way towards the chair.
"Did you lose your way back to your seat?" Yoongi asked her quietly when she sat down next to him.
"Not really, more like I lost my seat to someone." She replied as she eyed Aimee at the other side of the table. She heard him give a soft laugh as she threw a look at Taehyung and Aimee.
"Aliya, nice to see you again, you're still cute as a button." Aimee greeted her. "Did I steal your seat?"
She could see why Nari is annoyed with the other woman, she has a way of getting into one's nerves. She gave her a compliment and yet it feels like she's insulting her at the same time. "That's ok, you can sit there, looks like you guys have a lot of catching up to do." She replied sarcastically. She saw Nari roll her eyes.
Yoongi leaned closer to her. "You sound jealous."
"No I don't." She replied as she took a sip of water. "Are you still busy with that project at work?" She purposely changed the subject.
He smirked before answering. "Yes, this project would take a long time since it's a big one."
"I met your parents a couple of weeks ago." She wanted their conversation to keep on going.
He snorted in reply. "I heard. My mom told me."
Aliya wondered if his mom mentioned about the part wherein she's trying to pair them up. Their conversation got interrupted when their food arrived. Since her diet is still restricted, she's just having Dak Kalguksu. Everyone started eating right away and they complimented the food as soon as they taste it. She thought the same too, and she noticed Nari must've thought so too because she kept on eating, contrary to what she said earlier.
Deciding to keep up her conversation with Yoongi, she turned to him and continued. "Your parents said they were on their way to your brothers place to see your nephew and niece when we saw them that night. They're very sweet and pleasant to speak with. They're a very nice couple."
"Yeah, too bad their son isn't." He replied.
"That's not true." Aliya answered softly making him look at her. She just gave him a small smile as she turns to her food.
"Maybe you're still sick, you're saying strange things." He replied without looking at her.
She scowled as she ate her food before answering. "I am not saying strange things, I am only saying what I feel is true."
Yoongi leaned towards her as one of his hand moves down to his lap before crossing towards her thigh caressing it softly as he whispers in her ear. "Just because I make you come doesn't necessarily mean I am a good person."
The noodles Aliya just swallowed seemed to have gotten stuck in her throat over Yoongi's words and hand that trails dangerously higher up her thigh. She ended up coughing, reaching swiftly for the glass of water while Yoongi handed her a napkin with a knowing smile. All of her friends eyes were suddenly on her asking her if she's ok. She nodded and waves her hand at them telling them it's nothing.

The Designated: Out of Control
It happened quicker than anyone would have imagined. Multiple hurricanes were one thing. People had dealt with that in the past. But, like kids playing dominoes, one thing crashed into another. Areas affected by hurricanes needed resources all along the Gulf and East Coasts drew rescuers and resources away from other parts of the country. When wildfires lit up the Pacific coast and mid-west, those areas were already understaffed. Driven by hurricanes in the Pacific basin, uncontrolled wildfires burned through towns, destroying everything in their paths. Across the Pacific, Asia didn't escape. From the Philippines, across China, into Indochina, and Bangladesh and India. Typhoons and cyclones pounded the coasts and far inland. Widespread flooding forced millions from their homes and across international borders. Mexico was hit hard and thousands died in mudslides as Katia slammed into their East Coast. The refugees fled north and west. Rumours started that hundreds of thousands were headed for the US border. Instead of running out of steam in the southern US, several hurricanes tore up the eastern seaboard, devastating cities and renewing their strength before veering east across the Atlantic. Maria and Ophelia veered east and slammed into Europe, reaching as far as the Netherlands and Russia before finally dissipating. After that, too many weather stations were offline to provide any form of co-ordinated information or warnings. Wildfires in Portugal burned ahead of the storms, fanned by hurricane winds. They sparked wildfires leapfrogging across Europe, beyond any one country's ability to cope. Already uneasy from multiple terrorist attacks over the summer, anti-refugee groups seized the opportunity to stage protests across Europe. Some turned violent as they clashed with police forces. Several governments declared martial law to quell the rioting and enforce evacuations along the path of the storms. Rumour and speculation overwhelmed facts. Unrest spilled over into widespread violence. Then sickness broke out in the displaced populations. Within a matter of a dozen weeks, tens of millions died. In the coming winter months hundreds more would follow. The Designated Project was activated.
