《MY Sweet Interlude》23 Heartbreak

"Wait." Aliya pulled back. "You're married." She said.
Taehyung chuckled through his tears and flicked her forehead. "I know that. This isn't the first time I've kissed you, have I?"
"Yeah but you're married now, you shouldn't kiss me or anyone else anymore. Oh god, now I have something to add on my guilty list with Jia again." Aliya whimpered.
"Why are you worried? You're not guilty of anything. It's not like you tried to seduce me to kiss you. That was just a friendly kiss, no tongue." He joked.
"That's not funny Tae." How many times did she dream of kissing him and yet couldn't make herself do it even if Taehyung was drunk and is sleeping like a log. Like she told herself before, she'd rather be the one who'd get hurt than him. She knows he loves Jia, this fact hurts her like crazy but it's the truth.
"One of these days, I'll talk to Jia and say sorry for everything." Aliya told him.
"Sorry for what? Stop being too hard on yourself."
"If I was in her place, I won't exactly be happy if I find out that my husband's bestfriend is in love with him. Maybe I am just selfish, I wouldn't want to share you with anyone even she's your bestfriend. I see it now, that's the reason why she's the right one for you."
" I just said to stop being hard on yourself. I am not leaving until I see you stop crying. I've never imagined I will be the one causing you to be this hurt." Taehyung said softly as he continues to wipe the tears from her eyes.
"I'll be fine." She reached out and wiped his tears. "This won't mend overnight you know." She took the tissue he handed her. "You don't know anything about this because you're always breaking women's heart but never had yours broken."
"Not true, my heart broke when I can't get to talk to you for two weeks." He replied with a sniff as he used the sleeves of his sweater to completely dry his face.
She turns to him and flicked his forehead like he did with her earlier. "That's different dummy, you're not in love with me and it's not even close to this pain." She managed to joke through her miserable state.
He reached out and gave her a quick hug. "I am really sorry for breaking your heart Iya. You can beat me up if that'll make you feel better."
Aliya smirked at her bestfriend. "Don't tempt me and I just might do that."
Taehyung moved in front of her, bending down so that she can reach his face. "Ok, give me your best shot and pour out all your anger."
Aliya rolled her eyes with a grunt before pushing him away from her. "That'll just be another guilty feeling for me with Jia for having messed up her husband's pretty face."

Taehyung smiled as Aliya settled on the couch seeing that she is less flustered and is starting to crack jokes. He sat next to her and leaned against her. When she made a protesting sound, he spoke. "So, you find my face pretty? Who do you think is prettier then, me or pretty boy?"
"I am not even going to answer that dumb question." Aliya humphed as she tried to push him away from her, since he kept on leaning against her with all his weight. He started to hoot in laughter when she saw her getting frustrated at him.
"Come on, tell me the answer." He urged her. When Aliya stood up from her spot and he fell on the couch, she started hitting him on his arm but that made him laugh harder. "That's it, pour out all your anger on me." He said.
"Argh, you're really annoying." Aliya screeched stomping away from him as she settled on a chair lifting her legs so she can hug her knees. She glared at her bestfriend. Flashbacks of their fights similar to this started coming back and it gave her a bittersweet reminiscing. That is a lifetime worth of memories, no matter what happened, the fact that they've been a part of each other's lives still remains. Those thoughts made the heaviness in her heart lessen a little.
"Are you still upset with me Aliya?" Taehyung asked as he pushed himself up on the couch. When she shook her head in response, he stood up and pulled her back so she'd sit next to him. He held her hand tightly as moments passed with neither of them speaking. It was him who broke the silence. "About you and Yoongi."
Aliya reached out and touched his lips with a finger. "Stop. Let's not be talking about that tonight."
"Why not?" He asked.
"This roller coaster of emotion has drained me enough." She replied.
"Let's get it done and over with all the issues tonight." He argued.
She shook her head; he has a point. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Did you go out with him again after that night ?" He asked talking about the night after his wedding.
There's no point in lying so she gave him an honest answer. "Yes." She carefully watched his reaction, the first night she agreed to be with Yoongi, her aim was to get back on him by being reckless. The succeeding times was a decision she made for herself.
Taehyung sighed. "You know it's not gonna go anywhere, right?" She knew he was referring to her relationship with him. When she nodded, he took a deep breath. "So why are you doing this to yourself?"
Aliya shrugged. "I just want to. I want to know how it feels like to throw caution in the wind and just do the unexpected. Honestly, I like it, I like the things I get to discover with him."

"Ya, stop. I don't want to hear it, especially not from you. I know him and how he is with women. I just can't place you and him together. God, I wish you just listened to me and stayed away." Taehyung said starting to get upset.
"If you're getting mad, then let's not talk about it anymore. I already spoke with Jimin and Jungkook about it, so you have nothing to worry about." She replied.
"But they're not your best friend." He replied with a serious tone.
It was Aliya's turn to sigh. "Ok fine, I can explain it better with you because I don't have to hold back anything unlike with Jimin and Jungkook. I know what I am getting into. I don't expect him to fall in love with me and I am pretty sure he isn't expecting that with me. I don't need a man who would love me right now because I can't return that love and you already know why I can't. Do you get in now?"
"So, it's because of me."
"Don't even think about it. Let's just end the topic about Yoongi there, ok? I will be fine, so you have nothing to be worried about." Aliya reached out and touched Taehyung's hand. He grasped it squeezing her hand lightly. He looked at her face touching the bottom of her eyes.
"They're puffy because you've cried too much." He said.
Aliya smiled. "I'll live."
"I'm sorry for hurting you."
"You already said that." Aliya said. "It's a work day tomorrow so I think you might need to go home to Jia. It is your first day back to work after your vacation." She couldn't make herself say the word honeymoon.
"So are we ok now Iya? Am I still your bestfriend?" Taehyung asked as he watched her face with a worried expression and a pout on his lips. For a minute, she was tempted to kiss him again but she chickened out as usual.
"You tell me, you're the one who's been ignoring me."
He gave her a sheepish smile looking embarrassed. "Sorry, I was still confused back then. But it's all clear to me now. Promise me you won't leave because of me."
"Sure bestfriend, you know where to find me." She replied.
Waking up the next day, Aliya felt crappy. Her eyes were too swollen and it felt like they were burning. Her throat felt so dry no matter how much water she drank it didn't feel any better. She has chills even though she was wrapped in a thick blanket. After taking her temperature and she saw the reading at 102, she called the office to let them know she's going to be away from work. Her next call was to her mother who said she's driving to see her, even if Aliya assured her it's just a regular flu.
She fell asleep and when she woke up, her mother and Dr. Ahn were sitting on her bed examining her. Her mom knows her door code for emergency reasons such as this, she asked her to open her mouth and when she did, she shook her head then looked at Dr. Ahn. "It's her tonsils again."
"Aliya, we will have to treat the swelling of your tonsils first before we get that removed ok? You need to come home with us." Dr. Ahn told her softly.
They bumped into Jimin at the elevator and he greeted So-young and Dr. Ahn. He throws a worried look at Aliya who was all bundled up with a mask on, while being held by Dr. Ahn by the arm. "We're taking her home because she has a fever." So-young explained to him.
"Can I help with anything?" Jimin asked looking around at everyone.
"You can take the food in my fridge coz I don't want them to go bad. Please share it with the guys. I already gave some to Taehyung last night." Aliya told him, her voice sounding funny and she found speaking hard because it made her throat ache.
Jimin nodded then touched her hand briefly. "You're burning. Please rest and get better soon." He told her before saying goodbye to So-young and Dr. Ahn.
"What a nice young man." Dr. Ahn commented.
So-Young nodded telling him who Jimin's parents were and he nodded, familiar with who the couple is. She continued to tell him stories about Aliya and her friends when they were growing up but it was all a blur to Aliya.
Moments since they left, Aliya's phone started to buzz. Jimin obviously have updated everyone about her being sick. Taehyung called her right away.
"You really sound sick. Is it because of our talk last night? I'm so sorry." He said his voice thick with worry.
"I was already feeling sick while I was driving back home yesterday, it's my tonsils again. For all you know, you might be the one who can get sick because of me." She said speaking as softly as she can so the couple in front won't hear her.
"Are you sure or are you just being nice to me again?"
"It's the truth." She paused to close her eyes as she felt dizzy. "I have to go Tae. I am having a hard time talking, my throat hurts."
"Ok, please take care. I will see you as soon as I can." He said before hanging up.
Aliya answered her friends questions at their gc with a simple, don't worry I'll live I am just too sick to answer your messages. That was the last reply she sent before she fell asleep.
